  • I'm 47 and I think started peri a year or so ago. Cycle ranges from 27-35 days, 3 days heavy bleeding and then about 8 days spotting (which is great for thinking you've finished and then hey presto - surprise!). Hair thinning, muscle cramps, nausea, heavy breasts and incontience have been my main symptoms. All manageable…
  • We (UK) went into lockdown on 23rd March 2020 and I gained a few lbs (on top of what I was already trying to lose) In July I finally got serious about it, and after a few bumpy weeks at the start and again for holiday and Christmas have managed to lose 30lbs since the restart (and 50lbs in total), dropped nearly 2 clothes…
  • My suggestions would be find what's manageable for you now and don't try it all at once. I too struggled with sugar and alcohol but by making food swaps and slowly reducing my intake, I've now found that I can keep the cravings at bay. Personally in the early days I found substitutions were key for me - so sweetner rather…
  • You can either try and add it from the database, which means someone has already uploaded the details for the same meal (but check they're correct) or you can create a food yourself by going to: diary/add food/search food - when not available click on link at bottom of page - add food to database, and then clicking through…
  • Hi Victoria - I'm with you, I'm 46 and peri menopausal too. It does seem harder this time round, I'm not sure if that's hormones, stress or lockdown, but it does 'feel' harder despite the naysayers who say menopause has no affect on ability to burn calories. You say you're scared? Of what? If you're scared of not losing…
  • I too am in the 'don't eat breakfast club' :) Have done slimming world and other diets in the past and had people tell me 'you must eat breakfast' but it just doesn't work for me. So long before intermittent fasting was a 'thing' I was inadvertantly doing it anyway. I still log all my foods as this also works for me, but…
  • Reducing my avocado on toast to 1 slice bread (nimble or weight wtachers in the UK) and half an avocado, rather than 2 and 1. Eating soup, sometimes homemade, sometimes tinned, but forgoing bread with it. Light and less spread (butter), a small chunk of light cheddar cheese and dark chocolate at night as a treat. No…
  • I do 40g oats, 50g blueberries, cinnamon and also 6g of groundflaxseeds and a touch of sweetner, and about 90ml oat milk (I'm vegetarian so flaxseeds help my protein intake). I haven't used frozen fruit, just use fresh and make up about 3 tubs at a time (using old doritios salsa jars, perfect size). I normally add about…

  • Hi ya, I'm UK and on 1200 cals. I'm 5ft 6 (and a bit!) and have around 90lbs to lose in total. Have sent you a friend request, Diary not open but happy to share ideas. I do very low level walking every day, around about 3miles, so about 300 cals burn. I don't eat back all my exercise calories. Many posts will tell you,…
  • I'm UK too, South West, anyone feel free to add me
  • I can see my knees! Sounds odd but lying in the bath my knees are now pointy. Used to just be a smooth lump, now actually has a shape. Also made a list of aches and pains when I started, most noticeaby plantar fascitis, knee and hips aches have all improved. Yay.
  • To disprove all the so called 'experts' who think their way is the only way
  • Hi ya, firstly if I were to give any advice (which I don't do as I'm not a nutrionist or dr ;)) it would be, don't beat yourself up. You're still trying, you're still here, you're still doing it regardless of what a silly pesky scale says. Also, and i just ask to give you something to muse on... What happens if you still…
  • This is exactly what I was trying to explain, it's like a project. Once I've learnt 'how' to do it I just get bored. I'm lucky at the moment that I'm still plugging away at it and not too tempted to go off the rails, just bored by the lack of 'interesting' or learnable things.
  • Thanks everyone for all your suggestions, really need to get back to cooking properly. :)
  • I'm not completely off carbs, i just find pasta, bread, rice and potatoes bloat me and make me feel sluggish. I do have them occasionally but feel better when I don't.
  • Wiltshire here, anyone feel free to add me :)
  • I want to fit back into my cute 50's style rockabilly dresses and feel strong and confident when I decided to get back into dating.
  • Feel free to add me (and anyone else) Wiltshire based, also starting new job, so trying to get into a decent routine.
  • Got to first mini goal which was to get down a bmi point, Yay. Next mini goal is another bmi point, which will also bring me down to a 10% loss. Finding these small goals quite helpful as have a fair amount to lose. Onwards and downwards.
  • I went predominantly veggie at start of the year again for health and ethical reasons. I'm UK based though so not sure our products are the same, but I'm a big convert to Quorn products (much bigger range than when I was veggie 25 years ago). Love me a quorn quarter pounder in a lettuce wrap or spiced steak strips in a…
  • Got 3 sets of knee high boots which at the start of the year I couldn't zip any of them up fully. Tried them on the other day and 2 out of 3 zip right up. So happy. (I love boots even in Summer). Now just to get that final pair zippitty doooh darring.
