Perhaps measure your waist rather than take a photo, it's probably more reliable.

I have been blessed with two gifts. One, a greater than average desire to be slim. Two, a love of sugar laden food. As a result, my weight has yoyoed over the last 30 years, I've gained nearly 300 kilograms in bits and pieces, and I lost 280 kilograms. My weight is rarely stable. I've been at goal weight 4-5 times. About a…

Honestly, I have 2 lengths. Either 3-4 days, or never. It doesn't matter what you are asking about. Either I'll develop a habit after 3-4 days, or it requires constant attention.

In my experience... motivation comes and goes. 25 pounds is not a lot. Just make sure that you don't gain, and once in a while you'll lose half a pound. Do that 50 times and you're finished. Alternatively give a friend who has a high income and is slim $1000 with the requirement that you get it back at goal weight, or…

Eat a kilogram of mixed vegetables 15 minutes before leaving home. Not the inexpensive corn/peas/carrots but those half a dozen vegetables variety packs.

Does anyone like the idea of a competitive challenge in the Challenges forum? If you don't gain over 6 weeks you get a bronze award. 0.33 % per week loss over 8 weeks you get a silver. 0.5 % per week loss over 8 weeks you get a gold award. Lots of precious metals more expensive than gold, so for every 4 weeks extra you get…

When I fall off the wagon, I find joining a challenge in the Challenges forum helps. Not something hard core, just give me 10 days, give me one month, 100 days of weighing. After seeing the same number for a week, I think that maybe it's time to get started again.

Congratulations for those people who started around 100 days ago!

I had 2 family members in two different cities dying of cancer. They died 4 days apart. I got post traumatic stress disorder from that. I saw a counsellor for a number of years (around 30 sessions) who really helped. What I still have trouble understanding was my ability to lose weight while they were dying. I didn't…

It's likely to be a combination of scale error, water loss, and other unknown factors. If it's been 3 readings don't worry about losing muscle. Use a trend period of at least 10-15 days.

Me too. I was expecting something interesting, it just was about choosing a partner based on their genitals. It was too much for me.

I would guess that it's not common, simply because if you look at a random group of people in a Western country, the majority of them are overweight or obese. Half of these will be dieting, with a sampling similar to what it's like here on mfp. I'm sure that there are people with body dismorphia, but I've never met someone…

I tend to agree, although I keep my thoughts to myself because many people here simply don't understand. If you hate it so much, I think that you have bitten off too much, simply stop going. Given that the vast majority of weight loss is caused by controlling what we eat, just control your intake instead. I do understand…

Back in the day when weight loss blogging was popular I kept track of a large number of people, approximately 15% made it to goal weight.

@MamboRumba Just start, people are starting even now.

Yes, it's possible, using a loss of 1% per week. Actually, that leaves you 2 pounds above but that's close enough. It definitely is possible to lose 1% per week.

I do see the irony of paying for the gym to negate the over consumption of food which we have spent money on. But people are complicated and we don't follow rules exactly or life would feel like an emotional prison.

Great way of describing what I subconsciously was thinking.

I haven't had a cheat day, although I guess I ate uncontrollably when I suddenly had a medical condition which caused some pain.

I found this on Google Scholar, which people should know is a rather useful place because you can find not only abstracts but hidden away in the nooks and crannies of the Internet are actual research papers which you would have to pay for, Google finds them and links to them.…
