After seeing this post, I took a look at this website as I was genuinely interested to see what people my weight and height look like. I’m always amazed at the different shapes and sizes people of the same height and weight can be and I thought it might help me to place less importance on my scale weight. However, on…

This might not be the answer you are after, but you seem to be within a healthy weight. If it’s so hard losing those last few kg to get to your “perfect” weight, it’s going to be just as tough maintaining there. The work doesn’t stop once the magic number appears on the scale and the more you force your body to be…

Weight loss is the only reward I need. Really.

Gin and slimline tonic in a can - c.75 cals for 250ml. Cans are good actually because you can drink really slowly and nobody will notice or try topping you up!

Gin and a slimline is like 60 cals. Go wild with a few slices of cucumber too. Total booze bargain IMO. Fill your boots!

I’m shocked by the calories in a lot of stuff, but the one that simply isn’t worth it for me is pasta. It’s the one thing I just avoid. Mainly because: - I can smash several portions in one sitting because it is so delicious and comforting - I can’t help but match it in its weight with cheese and/or olive oil - It doesn’t…

Correct.

Ice Magic - it was a chocolate sauce that you poured onto ice cream, after which it immediately solidified and you could crack it with your spoon and pick it off in giant shards. As a kid, it was the stuff of Willie Wonka wonderment.

Why oh why am I looking at this?

Great, straightforward tip! Thanks @AnnPT77

I don’t know. However, I always underestimate the knowledge many people have re: the basic calorific content of individual foods, let alone dishes. For example: “I used olive oil to roast my veg. That’s part of a mediterranean diet. You don’t get overweight on a mediterranean diet” (1tbl of olive oil = 120 calories)…

I turned 40 a few months ago. OP - thanks for nothing :p For all those EVEN OLDER THAN ME (gasp), thanks for your positive posts demonstrating that there is still hope past the big four-oh! <3

I hate that message. It only reminds me just how long I have to continue slogging away to keep within my pitifully small daily allocation of calories. I’d rather not see it. Would much rather get a huge firework display for simply hitting THAT DAY. I prefer focusing on the baby steps rather than the mountain top.

I have experienced this “nothing, nothing, WHOOSH” thing too. I don’t really care about the science behind it. All I know is that I no longer get discouraged when the scale doesn’t move for a few days because I know it will eventually....and maybe big! It’s like waiting for a parcel each day. You run to greet the postman…

What a great feeling! And look at all those new (old) clothes you get to wear! Well done!
-
Well done! Looks like you did it the “right” way too - steady, consistent and exercise. I aspire to the same. Thanks for the inspiration today.
-
Brilliant! You look great and above all, I’m pleased it has made you happier!

This has inspired me to continue with my healthy eating. I want to get to the stage where the sugary fatty carbs I crave don’t have the same appeal they once did. I’m only on day 3 (I know, pathetic), but each journey starts with a single step, right?! Thanks for posting.

100 minute walk. Lame by “workout” standards but spent most of today at my desk, working, so was really tired and “blah”. I checked my tracker at 6:30pm and seen I’d done close to zero steps all day, so hauled myself outside for a stroll.

Just a thought, but rather than ask yourself “Am I full?”, maybe ask yourself, “Am I hungry?” Or “Am I STILL hungry?” Then, if you say “Yes”. Ask yourself once more, just to be sure. Are you actually hungry? Really, REALLY? You say you love to eat...Oh, me too!! But loving to eat is very different to needing to eat because…

I love gazpacho. I used to labour over my own (easy - just time-consuming grilling/peeling the peppers and tomatoes), until I found this amazing version in a carton by Alvalle. It is expensive but tastes exactly like homemade. The soup is refreshing, as is the ingredient list! Nothing on it you wouldn’t understand. It is…
