  • I am sympathetic to the person suggesting that over 23% body fat for women is overweight. (I wouldn't use the word overweight, since it is not a measure of weight, but whatever.) This is the table I'm familiar with: Description Women Men Essential fat 10–13% 3–5% Athletes 14–20% 6–13% Fitness 21–24% 14–17%…
  • I'm pretty much always in training for some long-distance cycling event. That means I need to do plenty of long rides to prepare. I work M–F, so I put long rides on my calendar on both Saturday and Sunday. Because of that, I do rest/recovery on Monday and Friday.
  • While we are on this subject… Is there any such thing as a scale with reasonably accurate biometrics? According to our bathroom scale, I went from 158 to 143 pounds and stayed at 33% body fat while increasing the amounts I can lift. Uh, no.
  • Regardless of how one sets one's daily target, I think the a smart way to switch from loss to maintenance is to start with the number of calories one is currently consuming and slowly increase that until weight stabilizes. I would fear that switching from one target to a new, larger one might be overshooting and lead to…
  • My goal weight is starting to come in sight, so I, too, am thinking about the transition to maintenance. I use this formula to guide my eating: (Daily Base Goal + Exercise Calories) ± 5% Once I get a little closer to my goal, I plan to add 100 calories to my "Daily Base Goal." I expect that I will keep losing, but more…

  • I'm looking for the number of calories in this wrap so that I can help OP. The graphic you posted led me to believe that you felt the answer was just a Google search away.
  • Since you offered, I would appreciate your help using Google search. I did some Googling and found that Z Wings Sports Bar & Grill is in Zapata, Texas. But I've been unable to find a menu with nutrition information for them. How would you suggest I refine my search terms?
  • I like clicking complete at the end of the day. It just feels so… complete! And I like seeing how many calories I have left for the day. So, I went into my Goals page in MFP and manually edited my Daily Nutrition Goals to set the number of calories I have determined to be correct for me. I suggest you do the same.
  • Yes! Measuring cups and spoons are way more accurate than just eye-balling it. But buying a digital scale was a great decision for me. It's way more accurate than measuring volume.
  • I've only been at this weight loss thing for a couple of months, but here is what is working for me… I focus on one or two things at a time. I started my logging all my foods. Then I set calorie goals. Now, I'm noticing I don't eat as many veggies as I thought, so I'm making an effort to eat more. Next, I want to set a…
