  • Some medications for migraine cause weight gain, others don't. I deal with chronic daily headache w/ migraine and am going through all the stuff too. Send me a message or friend request if you want to talk migraines. Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be a group for those of us that deal with it.
  • How often are you lifting? You might not be recovering between.
  • New exercise can add water weight too. Just recalc what you need and see how you are, that should help plus awareness on 'scale weight' vs fat-loss. The link people like here is: http://physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/ They only let you edit for a hour... but if you…
  • Are you sure it's hunger and not being tired? Tired can feel like this hunger you can't feed (because it isn't a physical hunger).
  • Your recent uptick is water retention. Sodium and carbs both hold water (as well as other substances). I think it is always good to evaluate what you're doing and refocus. "Extreme" is a matter of perspective (what you might consider extreme may or may not be), but generally that's not a good adjective. If you've been…
  • I resisted buying because I was use to things not fitting well. I kept telling myself there was no point to buy since I'd just replace it again "shortly". Once my appearance was commented on, I went to try new clothes. I've replaced everything a few times since. Even my shoe size changed. Now if it gets baggy enough I go…
  • I pre-log. I find if I go into the kitchen hungry and wondering what to make, I'm much more prone to overeat. I have the same breakfast and I sit down while eating and log in what I plan on eating based on the day. I don't make myself eat it, but I plan for that. I 'block out' space in my calories for that meal. I allow…
  • Besides Shrimp, Tuna and Salmon... Dairy products (fairlife milk, siggi's or fage plain yogurt) and no-salt added turkey breast (deli sliced) are probably the most consumed.
  • I am home or food-available most of the time. I've split my eating into meals and 'snacks' (light meals? 50% meal essentially), 3 each. I try to divide my calorie goal up between them by type and set any targets/goals I want for each individual feeding. For instance, I shoot for 20+ protein on snacks and 30+ on meals to…
  • That's a good point. I find that even when the Dr's remark on 'how much you're losing' they don't seem to think about adjusting medications for your new size unless pressed on it.
  • It's just perception of effort, your brain is messing with you. If you factor in the costs of all the issues and motivations that drove you to what you're attempting, is it really easier? You are capable, just make sure you're being healthy.

  • Some incorrect entries were correct, but the company changed the formula and now the nutrition is different. Others may be incorrect for you but correct for others as the 'same' foods in other regions and countries may be formulated differently. I am always really hesitant to touch an entry, because it might be accurate…
  • A lot of the things I was told were caused by my 'weight' are now explained as 'genetic' to me by my doctor. Weight can contribute but it doesn't cause. I'm not sure how much losing ~90lbs so far changed vs. my consistent strength training over the last 7 months. My A1C is down to 5.3, hoping to decrease that too.…
  • My strong preference is no tags, just printed info. I did buy a couple shirts for working out that had a label in them along the side. To my amusement, the label had a little scissor and dotted line indicating where to cut.
  • I dropped hydrochlorothiazide. I want to drop the propronolol er next, though I was put on that for migraines. After coming off the water pill I am holding at ~107/72. I still have another 50lbs to lose I think, about that anyways.
  • When I was eating higher calories... Peanut Butter or Walnuts Frozen Blueberries or Cherries Your protein powder (chocolate is what I was using) A dash of pure vanilla unsweetened almond milk half a banana Now I do: 65-80g Kale, Chard, Spinach mix, frozen half a banana 1c coconut water powder (orange, cinnamon, etc for…
  • I'm not sure the right terms for here but is it soreness from doing something new or fatigue from the muscles being exhausted? Also are you lifting a lot of volume?
  • How recent is "just"? I'm no doctor, but I'm guessing you should talk to your surgeons. Eating in a deficit while healing isn't usually advised from my experience.

  • What do you cook your eggs in? What about your chicken? There are a couple of little things but nothing to arrest weight loss. I find some of the exercise calories suspect (like last monday), but you're not eating back those numbers so that shouldn't matter. I don't know enough to figure it out other than to say I seem to…
  • We don't choose what burdens we carry in life, but we take some control back by choosing how to live with them.
  • I know someone who likes the Glazed Donut MyProtein, but I don't know their taste and haven't tried it myself. I'd bet the flavors are similar across brands if you account for artificial sweetener taste differences. I don't mind Stevia but I hate Monk Fruit extract, for instance. I've used a different brand's cinnamon…
  • Cooking spray drives me nuts. I accept that it might be a more efficient distribution method for a light coating on my pan, but if the ingredients is simply Avocado Oil (or whatever) then it does have significant calories. You look on the nutrition facts panel and it says 0 calories because the 'serving' is like 1/5th…
  • Correct, I entered in the wrong value and can't edit.
  • I understand the confusion, but you shouldn't 'drink less water'. What I was trying to say was that certain diets drop your sodium and carb intake, both of which bind water in your body. You should obviously maintain good hydration, though people will argue what that actually means. This is the link people usually give for…

  • I think what you're asking for is this? 1g carb = 4 kcal 1g protein = 4 kcal 1g fat = 7 kcal There are other sources of calories though, like 1g alcohol is 7 kcal. Also, these numbers are not exact. So you can't really try to sum up the macros to determine calorie (though you could approximate, you'll notice the Quick Add…
  • Do you have specific questions or just want general advice? Barring medical necessity, all 'diets' are the same over time. A few dump water right away and change the scale, but that isn't fat loss. No 'diet' has been proven more effective than another in long term (6mo+) study that I know of, so what is most effective is…

  • I lost a lot involuntarily while being completely sedentary. I lost a lot of muscle with the fat and it scared me. I changed from that and now do strength training twice a week while in deficit. What you want now isn't necessarily what you want later. You shouldn't be feeling sick though.
  • Many entries in the database are wrong. Double check them especially when using a new product. Also, how many servings does the packaging say are in the container? The trouble with the idea of the user maintained database, besides the inaccurate and garbage data, is that foods will be different in different places.…
  • For strength training I do carbs and protein 30-45min before, but generally like to keep it light. Some people add caffeine but I haven't seen a change in performance for myself. I do know that if you're doing long workouts, like distance running or something, it's more complicated and you need to make sure you remain…
