It really varies based on location, but that seems really high? Did you buy all fresh? I only buy fresh veggies for my salads and then frozen for everything else (veggies that I use for sides, stir-frys, rice bowls etc). I also buy a lot of frozen fruit (smoothies, baking etc), which is cheaper than fresh fruit usually.…

It will burn a few extra calories, how much will depend on your current weight etc. I walk daily and they burn around 100 calories. That's not really going to have a big impact on my weight, but it's good for my overall health which is why I do it.

No, it means you're learning skills that you can then use for the rest of your life without hassle. By tracking/weighing my food for a few years I learned how to accurately estimate portion sizes for a lot of foods. It also created the habit of counting calories and I now do it mentally throughout the day without even…

No really. There's some of us who are in maintenance now, that don't track our intake intake regularly. My daily weigh-ins are my biggest weight management tool, along with mental calorie math throughout the day. I spot check my calorie/micros intake over on cronometer once in a while, but I'm not a daily tracker anymore.…

I don't think this can be emphasized enough. While we should be working towards a balanced, nutrient dense way of eating, there also needs to be a balance of how food fits into our lives, beyond micros/macros. While I eat a fairly 'healthy' diet, I also eat in a way that allows me to enjoy social events, vacations etc,…

I'm 6 years into maintenance and I just started doing this a few weeks ago-you figured it out way faster than I did LOL. I love rice bowls and now do 1 serving regular rice (1/2c) and then 1/2c riced cauliflower. Then I add my regular steamers bag of CA blend veggies, a protein (either chicken, beans or shrimp), and then a…

Unfortunately you can't spot reduce where the excess weight will come off of. As you lose weight it will come off everywhere, and then when you're a lower weight it may be helpful to do recomp.

I need to look for that sauce, I use a LOT of sweet n' sour sauce. I also really need to get a spiralizer, I think it would really expand my veggie list!
-
First, realize that for weight loss it doesn't matter what kinds of foods you're eating-you just need to be at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. And many times, when someone has a lot of excess weight, just by losing the weight they'll see significant improvements in their health markers. Starting out…

I made a stir fry bowl: rice, stir fry style veggies (steamer bag), mushrooms and onions, chicken, a scrambled egg, soy sauce and sweet n sour sauce-all mixed together. Pretty good and I got in 4 servings of veggies with it :)

You can't guarantee that you weren't in a deficit if you didn't actually accurately track your intake. You're contradicting yourself here.

This, 100% OP, I've been at this process for 7 years now. Motivation doesn't mean anything-committing to seeing this through until the end is everything. I do that by establishing realistic and sustainable habits that I do every single day, no matter what's happening in life. I've successfully managed my weight through…

I reversed the progression of prediabetes (diagnosed in 2012), with weight loss. Now I'm around 6 years into maintenance and see fasting glucose numbers consistently in the 80s. My doctor is please with where I'm at and hasn't recommended any further changes (I continue to eat a higher carb woe etc).

I think people have very different ideas of what a salad is and many times think it's those cute little side salads that come with meals at restaurants. When I make a salad it's game on :D My lunch salad today had 4 cups of leafy greens, a cup of cherry tomatoes, 6 sweet peppers, 1/2 of an onion, a head of broccoli, green…

I just ate a 500 calorie salad, (that I made at home), so yes it's important, especially when you're just starting out to track everything :) After you transition into maintenance and have been at it a while you may be able to 'eyeball' things a bit, but that's much further along into the process.

I was trying to work through what the other recommendations were too. My kids aren't at a brick n' mortar public school anymore but when they were sugary sodas/beverages were not offered as a hot lunch option? I know the HS had vending machines but we were just there a few weeks ago for an event and it only had diet soda…

I ate 'intuitively' and ended up with 50lbs of excess weight :p It's a great concept, but realistically for those of us who have struggled with our weight-intuitively eating probably isn't going to be that helpful of a weight management strategy.

Wait, what?!
-
OP, I normalized prediabetic numbers by losing excess weight. Are you overweight? If so, just losing the weight may be enough to improve your glucose numbers.

I average over 30g a day, sometimes closer to 40g (I'm a female). Here's a good article that goes into what fiber is, what its role is in our bodies etc https://www.vox.com/2019/3/20/18214505/fiber-diet-weight-loss

I'm also a big fan of Lean Cuisines + veggies. Grocery stores run sales on them all the time-I usually pay less than $2 per LC and then veggies are $1 a bag.

Towards the end of 3 months experimenting with DASH and I've really enjoyed it! I'm dealing with some uncooperative weight right now though-started the year by losing at a rate predicted, but the past few weeks my weight has been all over the place and I'm now trending up. Thinking back to what I've been eating, I…

Lead by example and keep your mouth shut (I've been married 16 years lol). My husband has decided on his own, to make some positive changes to his health, as he's seen me make changes. But, I would never get after him to do what I think he should do-that's just a disaster waiting to happen.
-
10lbs in 4 weeks is a very high rate of loss, what were you expecting? What are your current stats (weight, height)? .5lb-2lbs is a healthy rate of loss for most people, losing weight too rapidly can cause all sorts of health issues down the road.

I'm fortunate that my primary care doctor has a background in nutrition/sports medicine and we've spent a lot of time talking about nutrition, weight and food topics. Interestingly enough though, he's never brought up macros ratios as being something that I should be focusing on/worrying over. In fact I don't think he's…

My husband takes InnovixLabs Multi-strain probiotic. We chose it based on cost/reviews and have been pleased with it. You can get it on Amazon or online at Walmart (we get it shipped free to our local store).

Heck, I'm 7 years into this process and I still use my food scale regularly, it really is a fantastic weight management tool :)

I normalized a prediabetic glucose number, as well as improved all my other health markers, over the course of a few months with weight loss. Even losing 5-10 lbs will most likely improve health markers, so even if the process takes a few months every pound makes a positive impact. No harm in changing up what kinds of…
