I am also Apple shaped - but I thought to balance yourself out by lifting you would need to build your upper body more - then hips and thighs would be more in proportion??

I have done Body Pump for years and I think it’s unlikely you will bulk up as it’s low weight high rep. I wouldn’t even describe our instructors as bulky. I think it’s a good starting point for weight training and helps you understand the different moves and positioning.
