Does this thing work?

  • Hi all! Been back on since December, just switched to a job that actually allows me time to care for myself so looking to lose weight and build strength (also deal with some back pain). Feel free to add me if you would like to give and get motivation!
  • Hello all! This is my millionth time starting, it seems! Had one very successful run on here about 5 years ago, been popping back since then. Looking to lose all the extra weight I’ve gained since having my daughter 3 years ago. If anyone would like to give and get support, please send me a friend request! I’m all about…
  • Hi! (*blush*) I hate admitting that I drink too much, but I know it’s true. I have managed to cut down a bit. Used to drink every day, now not every day. I’d like to pretty much eliminate it if possible. I don’t get bad withdrawal symptoms, per se (I guess not physically really, although I do get physical hangover…
  • I’d love to join you! 40 year old mom of a 3 year old. Used to workout 5+ days a week, at least 3 of those including weight training. I was in decent shape and then … life!!! Looking to make my way back, under new circumstances. Baby steps :)
  • Feel free to add me, anyone! My first is just 6 months. I was in pretty good shape when I found out I was pregnant - I had been working out about 4-5 days a week. That stopped pretty much as soon as I got pregnant (super tired, sick, etc). Just recently I’ve been getting more active but it is definitely different when a…
  • I am always down to give and get support! I struggle with stress eating, for sure. Then once I start it’s hard to stop :( Plus I like to eat out! And now that I have a baby, my leisurely evenings of cooking nice dinners are more like quick prep and maybe get something healthy on the table!
  • Hi! I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant, (due Dec 2019) and overweight. Have been so sick in the first tri I haven’t gained any weight, looking to keep it in check going forward. Still feel a little sick but not as adlyasi was feeling. How are you doing?
  • That video is helpful, thanks!
  • We actually had a talk last night and it was helpful. I think he thought I was going to the gym because I felt like I needed to be “skinny” to be beautiful. I did get really down on my body a while ago, but I explained to him that I go not because I don’t like myself but because I DO like myself and I just want to be…
  • Thanks all! Unfortunately he is not interested in gym stuff and is not an outdoor person like I am. What I think I’ll do is this: 1. Get my butt up a little early and get a run/jog in the morning. The weather here gets pretty horrible in the winter but it is starting to get nicer. We are essentially renting a room from a…
  • Based on this schedule I'm not really seeing the issue with timing on the week days? Is his issue that you get home slightly later than him two nights a week? That seems kind of silly especially on nights he is also busy. [/quote] Sounds that way, but he doesn’t like that I get home later than him to begin with and so me…
  • My commute is 45 miles by highway, i wouldn’t be able to bike there unfortunately. It would also take me forever! We are essentially renting a room in a friend’s house right now while we prepare to get our own home, although it’s taking a lot longer than expected. So, my plan is a home gym when we get our own place but for…
  • Also, on our time off on the weekends, or even just after work on weekdays, he is fine with relaxing in bed, reading, watching TV, but I like to move around.
  • I generally go Tues/Wed nights - when he has class until “9” - but not really, he usually still beats me home by 8 pm-ish. I purposefully chose those nights as my long nights because I figured he’d be in class, but his 9pm classes aren’t like mine were in grad school - which were until actually 9pm. I also go Sat/Sun and…
  • If you want to log your exercises in MFP ( personally, I like to do so) then you can take the calorie burn from your Fitbit (if you tracked it as an exercise) or the burn from MFP or another method, just be sure that when you log your “25 min treadmill” (example) workout, you put in the correct start time. Then, Fitbit…
  • I would say a food scale, along with measuring cups/spoons. Cooking on my own, whether that be purchasing recipe books or just going online to find recipes, and a gym membership. Not super exciting, but it works! Then, just to feel better, some things like workout clothes, good exercise shoes, weight gloves. And a human…
  • Yeah that comes up for me too. First time I didn’t realize and I was like damn, this recipe is not as healthy as it seemed! Then I saw it ...
  • Chicken marsala, homemade portobello mushroom sauce with homestyle egg linguine and some steamed broccolini with vidalia onions :)
  • It’s always been touch and go for me, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Added a recipe 2 days ago, no problem. Tried today, got errors. I’ve been using this app for years and it’s been that way :( don’t know why ...
  • I’m 5’3 and when I was 145 (which is my current goal weight to return to) I usually wore an 8. I was also exercising regularly at that time so my torso was probably a bit more muscular. Not super tight and or anything but let’s just say I’m retraining my abs ... they’re kinda lazy right now ;)
  • I usually food prep on Sundays. A friend left her crock pot at my place so I think I’m going to use that ... mine has gone MIA since our last move. :( My hubby is a picky eater and I try to cook for both of us, but there are some staples I love that he doesn’t like ... such as beans and soups! Soups are the best in the…
  • Salads can be so deceiving!! But so delicious :(
  • Today I plan to have my first AF day. I’m setting my goals ‘low’ at first as I am making big lifestyle changes between what I eat, what I drink (or don’t drink), and how much I move. Trying to replace my after work drink routine with gym time and/or cooking a nice meal time. So I think I’ll try AF today, one Af day this…
  • Thanks, that was helpful. So essentially I’m not quite as sedentary as the ‘sedentary’ mfp setting accounts for? I raised my calorie goal a bit, if I can get down as low as it recommends I will eventually, but I don’t want to start so much lower than I’m used to because I don’t want to get discouraged. It’s a mental thing…
  • I wear them - I sweat a lot too, and it helps keep my hair out of my face, even if I have it pulled back I think the band feels better. I wouldn’t be too concerned about fashion at the gym, I mean everyone’s just getting all sweaty and stinky anyway, right? ;)
  • I don’t have advice for you, but I can relate! I have a routine of getting some dinner out (or a happy hour snack, so no good) and about the same number of drinks. And I know it’s the food as much as the drinks that I crave. I think what we need is something to occupy our time that we would normally spend doing our…
  • Feel free to add me! I too lost almost 40 lbs a few years ago and have gained just about all of it back in the past 2 years, during which I started and stopped on here several times. This time I want to get serious. I felt so good when I was active and lost the weight, but why is it so hard to get there again? 😋
