Aha! I've just found a USDA entry for boiled, no salt. I'll use that and just not salt the cooking water π
-
But it's the start of fresh corn season here and I want to eat a LOT of it this season to make up for missing it π So, if say I'm off by 50-100 calories each time, that's too many extra calories (I'm older, short, sedentary so don't have much of a calorie leeway). I will follow your suggestion of logging the eaten kernalβ¦

What are your stats OP? What is your goal? If you are truly struggling to eat your daily calorie allowance then try adding more calorie dense food, nuts and nut butters, full fat dairy foods, heck even a bit of cake or chocolate, π And yes, eat a good proportion of your exercise calories too π

It's a fresh cheese, it'll last about 1 week in the fridge (if I'm lucky! π) Thanks for the USDA link π I really don't know about the whey but, as it will contain lemon juice I'll opt for the acid choice.
-
Thanks for responding, it's greatly appreciated. It's great that that method works for you nut I'd really like to know the different values for the different products. I don't have a huge daiky calorie allowance (I'm 51, female, short sedentary) so I like to be as precise as I can be. Ignoring the whey calories wouldβ¦
-
That's an idea but I'll still need to know the calories for the whey too π
-
I didn't even give that a thought! The basic ingredients are whole milk and lemon juice. I'll add herbs and spices after the curds have formed, so that bit is easy to calculate.
-
Mmmm, peas! I miss them sooo much π We can only get frozen peas and they are like bullets, no matter how long I cook them for so I've given up buying them π’

I'm putting fresh mint in absolutely everything at the moment. It's plentiful at the veg' market at the moment (probably for the next 2 months too). I've chopped and frozen so many bunches for the freezer so we can have it year round. Same for fresh parsley and purslane, one of my freezers is full of bags of chopped greenβ¦

Did MFP give you 1400 calories when you set it up? If so, MFP has already put you in a deficit. How much weight did you select to lose per week? If you set it at 2lb/week then MFP put you in a 1000 cal/day deficit. If you set it at 1.5lb/week then you are in a 750 cal/day deficit. If you set it at 1lb/week you are in 500β¦

If you have some natural yoghurt you can use that instead of feta in the salad or, I also make a melon, yoghurt & mint smoothie (just blitz it all in a food processor), it's delicious π
-
So just like tomatoes then? Simple enough, even for him π€£

Watermelon is so cheap here at the moment - I paid the equivalent of 14 pence/kilo the otger day for a huge 9.5 kilo beast π The only downside is finding the fridge space for it once it's been started on π€ I'm eating and drinking so much melon every day now π Was it nice with the peaches? They're a reasonably good price atβ¦

OP, I'd recommend that you listen to @PAV8888 The voice of reason ππ
-
But the OP said she cleans houses occasionally so I disagree that they should change their activity status upwards. I'd keep it the same and log the hours of cleaning when they actually happen. Occasionally can mean once a week, month or year. No need to up the activity level for anything less than 3-4 times+ a week, imho.

Argh @acpgee, you've tempted me now to splash out on the extra calories for the nar ekΕili π±π

I've looked in the cardio exercise database and haven't found anything relating to the walking videos I'm doing, that's why I went to exrx. Do you think that maybe I should log the gross calories, instead of net, seeing as though I'm working harder than a walk?
-
I am but, to me it seems rather a lot. Mind you, before I found that site I was using MFP calculations but only eating 50% of those so, with the increased exercise, it's a big jump up in calories. I'm happy to eat all the NET calories it tells me I've burnt because I'm exercising to "Walk At Home" videos so there's a lotβ¦
-
How do you connect Libra to MFP?
-
Yes, that's what I've been doing π I just wanted to check that the burns were an ok estimate because I've increased my exercise (and eating the calories) and the exercise calories "earned" are quite a lot more than I'm used to. I was a little bit scared that I'm eating more than I want to. Thank you for putting my mind atβ¦
-
Thank you π I hadn't noticed that function π
-
Ooh, that looks and sounds lovely π
-
I know sometimes oil is added also pomegranate molasses (nar ekΕili) but I wanted to keep the calories as low as possible. I'm glad I did as it was perfect. It's market day again tomorrow so I'll get another watermelon (this one was a 10 kilo monster and it's only lasted less than a week!) and I've plenty of white cheeseβ¦
-
@acpgee that all looks lovely π @seltzermint555 I can believe that I've waited so long before making this. All those wasted summers past π
-
It's a typical summer salad here in Turkey but I was always the same, I didn't think melon and cheese would complement each other but as I had all the 3 elements in the fridge fresh from the market I just tried it and love it π I also put watermelon in a yoghurt and purslane salad a few days ago and that was great too π
-
@c_rebecks99, how did you get on at your doctor's appointment? π
-
OP, you posted yesterday asking about 5:2 fasting. Why the desperate rush to lose that 9kg? Why do you want to go so fast? Slow and steady wins the race here π Your goal weight would put you as borderline underweight. That's really not a good look. Why not just do what was suggested yesterday; tighten up your logging, eatβ¦
-
Are you eating any of your exercise calories back? Only 1200 cal/day, plus exercising but not eating those "earned" calories wouldn't be enough, I'd have thought π
-
Use a food scale for EVERYTHING, measuring cups really aren't accurate.
