Jeff Nippard did a video on the topic recently. Although, he made a recomp program which was released at the same time, so perhaps there's some bias there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4K0s792wAU

There's no science supporting fat loss superiority of keto vs high carb diets when energy and protein are equated. It's fine to do, but fat loss is basically the same, and over the long term weight loss is the same too. Over very short term time periods, sure, keto can be a bit better if measuring total weight, but this…

I like strong. I use it on an ios device, but it's available for android too. It's not amazing though.

Are you part of the wearable health lab at stanford, or are there other labs also studying this topic on an ongoing basis? There's the 3-suns (and mild variants) tdee spreadsheets that can do some of this. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/4mhvpn/adaptive_tdee_tracking_spreadsheet_v3_rescue/

There's https://height-weight-chart.com/ as well.

ObDisclaimer: i've never done slimming world/ww however my take on it is i'd do regular calorie counting if you can, but if the explicit counting of calories is something you 100% can't/won't tolerate, then something like slimming world which tries do get the same results, but without explicitly counting everything (plus…

Every time I looked at going raw, getting sufficient protein always looked like a massive pain, since i'd have to sprout legumes. I have respect to those who can do it in a healthy way (not the salad and fruit raw vegans, though, who get almost no protein or dietary fat).

I guess everyone's different. I've literally never been evangelized in respect to veganism (including both before and after becoming vegan) and that's something I only encounter on the internet. Low carb, on the other hand, I have seen a ton of advocacy around, whether it's atkins or the current trend of keto. It doesn't…

Do you know of any peer reviewed studies that show that vegans are unable to reach their genetic ceiling?
-
How so? Isn't it basically identical? I never noticed a difference between connecting apple vs fitbit to mfp.
-
If you just want basic activity training, then I think a fitbit would be ideal. That said, your phone is probably adequate for that purpose as well.

I suspect (or at least hope) that while impossible may displace other veggie burgers/faux meat products in fast food establishments, that it won't replace accidentally vegan/vegetarian choices (eg: things that just happen to not have meat, like a poke bowl with tofu or something like a taco bell item with beans, rice,…

Adding more non-meat options doesn't remove options for omnivores.

The only annoying thing about the garmin ecosystem is how common apac versions are, and they tend to be quite a bit behind on the firmware so aren't as desirable, and are often sold without noting the fact that it's an apac version, so I tend to be pretty paranoid about who I buy garmin products from especially if the…

In terms of taste, my preferences (in order) are livwell (coconut only, cacao is awful, and vanilla isn't great), orgain (not really low carb), and then vega. Unfortunately, livwell isn't available in retain stores that I've seen (and it's expensive). I think you should get protein from food if possible, though, and use…

It's exploitation of bees, they are artificially inseminated in commercial practices, and their emergency food is stolen, and instead they are fed a low quality substitute that has been linked to worldwide colony collapses. From an ethical perspective, commercial beekeeping isn't all that different from the dairy industry.…

They look good, but i'll admit I get a little annoyed seeing something labeled a protein bar when protein is literally the least plentiful macro-nutrient in the bar (16g carb, 8g fat, 6g protein). They look like a tasty treat, though.

No,but it looks pretty similar to other kickboxing fitness classes i've done (ones with heavy bags, not just cardio kickboxing classes where you're just kicking air).

I've got a 935, but I'm trying to resist the 945...but i'm not going to lie, maps and music are features i'd love to have (without giving up a ton of battery life). I do wonder how using the pulse oximeter for recovery status compares to hrv for recovery status. Maybe pulse oximeter is more of a leading indicator of…

When I had similar symptoms, it wasn't due to the total fiber, but rather how rapidly the fiber increased. Have you recently switched from a more junkfoody vegan diet to something more whole food based that could have increased your fiber levels significantly? The goal on mfp is a minimum, not a maximum, so I wouldn't…

Body fat set points and settling points are pretty respected, evidence wise. Evidence based practitioners have discussed them before. Eric helms discusses it a bit in this video: However, that is much different than what the OP has described. The body won't magically go to normal weight if you get adequate nutrition levels…

I signed up to a similar service (purple carrot -- but I no longer subscribe), but at the end of the day you're still cooking, so if lack of motivation is stopping you from eating healthy (whatever that means to you), it might be problematic and most of these services are somewhat expensive.

Maybe acutely, but not really over a 24hr period.

Instead of putting a ton of faith in calorie burn estimates from fitness bands, I personally prefer to just track it based on average weight relative to calories consumed using something like 3suns adaptive tdee calculator (see https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/4mhvpn/adaptive_tdee_tracking_spreadsheet_v3_rescue/).…

It's gone back to withings

Which ones specifically? For example, okinawans didn't really eat much rice or fish (sweet potatoes were their main carb source, and fish was aprox 1-2% of daily calories).
-
A lot less than most. Excluding exercise, 5kish on most days.
-
Whenever I had symptoms like that, it was one of three things: 1: Undereating to support the exercise level (or too high a deficit) 2: Not having sufficient electrolytes/sodium in my diet 3: Not having any carbs before session

I didn't have memory problems, I was just very tired constantly. I didn't know I had anemia until I was diagnosed with hodgkins and the anemia was discovered and had to be addressed before treatment.

Seitan and beans were always my go to options. On the processed side, you have a few choices from quorn (need to read ingredients, since a lot of their product line has egg) and beyond meat (which uses pea protein).
