Hi Everyone, Cheers to another month. Great to see so many people still writing down their goals. It sure does help me. Well, I was able to get all the lab work completed and I am happy to…

I was diagnosed with diabetes back in late April with an AC1 of 12. I met with a dietitian who put me on a low carb meal plan. I also put an exercise plan together. Then I met with my doctor to go over my test results. He immediately wanted to put me on medication and was really upset with me when I said no thank you. I…

I was diagnosed with Diabetes this April. I DO NOT want to go on medication so I started out lowering my carb intake, exercising and reading everything I could get my hands on. I met with a dietitian as well who told me to lower my net carbs to 45g per main meal. It took a bit but I did and have lost 25 lbs so far. I then…

Happy August everyone! I am starting off the month re-energized. I bought a new digital scale and found out that my old one was 10lbs off. So at the end of July, according to the new scale, I have lost 25lbs (not 15 like I had originally thought). You may be wondering where I got my starting weight from- a doctors visit.…

I was diagnosed with Diabetes and I went to see a dietitian. She recommended I look at the research by Dr. Jason Fung. He discusses the science behind fasting. I highly recommend reading it. It has helped me considerably. I not only do a 16/8 fasting schedule (I eat 3 meals on those days and sometimes a snack) and do a 24…

I was diagnosed with diabetes in April and knew I did not want to take insulin. I started to do a bunch of research. I learned that I could lose weight safely and get my diabetes under control with my diet. I studied a bunch of topics on carbs, sugars, calorie intake, exercise, the failure of low fat diets, etc. I even…

Have you heard of Dr. Jason Fung? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw61ad-wedo Everything he said made sense to me so I did a ton of research. I have now tried out his process for 2 weeks and I feel so much better in just a short period of time. He has several books out. It's worth a look.

Don't eat if your not hungry. You may want to try intermittent fasting. This helps the body burn fat instead of just the sugars you are getting from your daily food. This will help with losing weight.

So I am doing low carb and fasting as Dr. Fung has suggested. I just completed my first 24 hour fast. A lot easier than I thought it would. Now 16/8 session and then Saturday another 24 hour fast. I will keep people updated as I progress in the program.

Hey everyone- Just found this group and I look forward to reading the entries. I find it so important to have support and find inspiration. May is almost over but I did set some goals for myself: 1) Add more exercise to my weekly plan. I was going to swim aerobics once a week and working out at home the rest of the time.…

The veggie recipes sound amazing. I am always looking for new recipes. And a lot of this stuff I have never heard of. Can't wait to try! This is one of our families favorite recipes. https://www.prouditaliancook.com/2012/01/winter-vegetable-torte.html As the vegetables start to grow in the garden I like to make recipes…

April goals went ok. Had 2 weeks of losing weight but then didn't lose weight the next week. The last week of the month I gained a pound. When you first start a diet it is hard to stay motivated when you are eating healthy and gain weight. But since I have been diagnosed with Diabetes I have no choice but to stick with it.…

Boy do I know what you mean. I lost weight the first two weeks, then didn't lose anything then gained a pound. I have decided to stop weighing myself once a week and try once a month. I am focusing on my carbs/sugar intake, calories and increasing my exercise regime. You've got this. The important thing is stick with and…

So frustrated right now...my 3rd week on a healthy food plan and exercised every day and didn't lose any weight. The first week I lost 6 lbs, the second week 2 lbs, this week nothing! This is why I hate this stuff, why wouldn't I have lost any weight? I pushed through it though and spent several hours in my garden cleaning…

Hi Everyone, Just found this group. I'm Lisa and I am 52. I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes so I am back to FitnessPal to help me journal my food intake. Once I was diagnosed, I met with a dietitian to figure out a diet and exercise plan. I was shocked to learn that I can only have 1/2 cup of rice, noodles,…

I have been diagnosed and just met with a dietitian. I was told to keep my carbs down to 45g per main meal (carbs- fiber). And for snacks try to keep them at 20g per snack (twice a day) though I usually only eat one a day. I was also instructed to eat all my meals within an 8 to 9 hour window so that my body has more time…
