Finished my eating for today. It's scary when you see how much sodium and sugar are in foods you would never think had any. I am trying to eliminate as much sodium as I possibly can. Not as concerned about sugar, though I should be. I am so very sick of having elephant feet!

Hi everyone! Happy weekend! My goal for June is to continue to stay below my calorie goal and more important, cut WAY BACK on sodium! That means cooking more and eating less ready made food. It is so easy to take the easy way out!

Absolutely necessary is my digital food scale. Dragged out my Vitamix, dusted it off and put it to work. I LOVE soup but am avoiding the the canned stuff (sodium) so now I can make homemade quickly and easily!

LOL I know. That thing was NOT cheap.

I have a Foodi, yet unused. I am trying to use up all my "convenience" food, full of sodium 🧂 and other preservatives. Got a ton of that in the freezer that I have to use up. Then to put my Ninja Foodi to good use. I also have a Instant Pot. Actually, I think I have every small appliance known to man! LOL

I am battling Hashimoto's, sleep apnea, painful arthritis in both knees, shoulders and hands. I also have Autoimmune Hepatitis and Nonalcoholic Cirrhosis. Since my liver is damaged, I never really feel "good" anymore. The worst thing is that I am always tired and there is nothing I can do to help that. With the liver…

My monthly goal is to lose 2 pounds a week in May. I am in week #5 of my healthy eating program. I won't weigh myself again until the end of the month.

I am sooo glad I saw your post! I was 71 in January and 4 weeks ago I decided it was now or never to lose weight and get healthier. I thought I was alone having waited so long to get serious about this. When I was hospitalized a couple of years ago I weighed in at almost 375 pounds. Since then I have not lost any weight…

Going to order bison, elk and venison Friday. My husband is excited about all this except for the fact the meat will lack the gamey taste. Sprouts is the store that carries it.

I celebrated 4 weeks of healthy eating today. Didn't weigh myself when I started but did yesterday. I am 71 and have to get some weight off. I will weigh again in a month. My goal is to lose 2 pounds a week. I know I will never be thin but I do want to be healthier!

Forgot to mention that I live in Houston, TX.

Newbie to this forum but not to calorie counting! I am 71 years old and figure if I want to live to see 72, I need to get some of this weight off. Today (Wednesday) marked 4 weeks of of healthy eating. I didn't weigh myself when I started but did so yesterday. Will weigh myself again in a month.

I am not real brave about trying new foods I guess. New things I HAVE eaten were put into my mouth with me not knowing what it was.

Low fat and high protein.

I have retired my Philips Pasta Maker indefinitely.

Try using a smaller bowl and plate when you eat things like this. I have the Portion Perfection bowls, plates and book. I also use a set of cutlery by Godinger that are very small. Got everything on Amazon. I generally find I can trick my mind into thinking I have more food than I actually do.

Invest in the Portion Perfection kit on Amazon! It is $50 but worth every penny! The book is great and the portion control dishes help so much. I still do a lot of measuring with my kitchen scale, depends on the food. One of the most helpful things to me is eating off the smaller plate with my mini-cutlery set. The book…

I have purchased sourdough pretzel nuggets and put 15 nuggets (150 calories) in a plastic container and nibble on them throughout the day. I bought mini Kind Bars (100 calories), individual portion packages of Goldfish crackers. Radishes with a bit of salt, cherry tomatoes, an apple sliced in wedges.....all allow you to…

I used to ask the same thing until I started eating healthy. I buy a lot from Aldis and Walmart which helps a lot cost wise. Using the money I spent twice a month on my Taco Bell orders buys a lot of healthy food. If you have a electric pressure cooker, Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi (I have all 3) even the cheapest cuts of…

If your favorites come in individual serving packages, buy those. More expensive but well worth the extra cost.

Guess I qualify since I am 71. LOL

Would love some new friends, Seniors and those needing to lose A LOT of weight in particular!
