I have a current BMI of 21.0 and I'm drinking flavored water right now that has aspartame in it. I've lose 50lbs and have been maintianing the weight loss for years, as well as fantastic health markers, and I use artificial sweeteners several times a day.

I'm pear shaped and even at a low BMI I have a bit of jiggle in my bum/thighs yet. There has been noticable improvements though as I've started walking every day, to the point where my husband made a random comment yesterday about my bum looking good, lol. I definitely have some 'squish' there yet, but it's firmer/smaller…

I picked up a jar of sugar free (spenda flavored) sweet gherkin pickles yesterday, (so baby cucumbers I guess, lol). I stared at the label for the longest time in the store because a serving of two of them is 0 calories. First time I've ever seen a food listed as '0' lol.

Add me to the list of people who've had to change their ideas about low carb. I've always been skeptical of low carb diets, but a few weeks ago I was very frustrated with where I was at and on a whim decided to try it. I'm not at keto levels, (went from over 200g of carbs a day, down to 50g-75g net carb goal range), and I…

This. I lost 50lbs during fall/winter months and continued to wear layers/baggy clothes. No one besides my husband had a clue that I was losing weight until spring hit and the layers came off. By that time I was confident in what I was doing and didn't engage in any dieting conversations with people.

Back when I started this process I didn't think I was overweight and I had no desire to lose weight for aesthetics reasons. I was comfortable in my body and I didn't mind where I was at. And then everything changed when I received a medical diagnosis, which was most likely influenced by my weight. Suddenly I was facing a…

This. I refer to the way I eat as a diet sometimes. I'm 6 years into maintenance though and I'm not trying to lose weight. 1. the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats. "a vegetarian diet" synonyms: selection of food, food and drink, food, foodstuffs, provisions, edibles, fare; More 2. a special…

For weight loss you need to be at the correct calorie deficit for your weight loss goals. Macros come into play because different ratios affect satiety levels, which make it easier/harder to hit that needed calorie deficit. What you're looking at sounds like a good place to start at, try it for a few weeks and then adjust…

It's really going to depend though on someones dietary goals though. I'm actually increasing meat intake while cutting down/out things like beans and legumes right now. I've found this way of eating to be cheaper though, than when I was eating a mostly whole foods, plant focused diet. This is because I have an amazing…

Sounds like you're going in a good direction, it's so important to figure out what works best for you-a way of eating that fits your food preferences, lifestyle, schedule etc.

It's great that you've seen benefits of eating a plant based diet, but I'm coming off of a mostly whole foods, plant based diet that was very 'healthy' and it did nothing special for me. After a couple months I started having increased bloating and struggled to keep my weight in check. After a few months I just got burned…

Just throwing this out there-any chance you could be pregnant?

OP, for not being able to afford a lot of meat-do you have an outlet stores/alternatives to regular grocery stores around you? I get most of my meat at an outlet 'scratch n' dent' store and it's so much cheaper! Bacon for $2lb, big hams for $5 etc. This week they had seasoned meat kits-4 servings worth for $3.99. I bought…

I'm currently experimenting with a lower carb way of eating right now and having the complete opposite happen-my hunger/appetite has decreased to the point where I have to be intentional about eating, just to get calories in. I've been doing 50g-75g net carbs a day since April 16th and have found this way of eating to have…

Welcome to the group, we're a pretty awesome bunch of people :D

It took me about 6 months to transition into maintenance and during that time my weight jumped all over the place, before finally settling down (I also lost another pants size during that time, as my body shape continued to change!). Seeing fluctuations right now is completely normal, also remember that you'll have a…

Thank you! Wrote this down and will try it as soon as I get the ingredients :)

Looks good! Did you make the dressing yourself? If so would you mind sharing your recipe?

Can you get a referral from your doctor to work with a dietitian? Sounds like you have a lot of health issues you're working with and getting some professional input would probably be a really good place to start.

You're reading into posts things that aren't actually being said/meant. Perhaps these forums aren't a good fit for you, with where you're at right now. Maybe taking a break and just focusing on getting better would be best for you right now. Best of luck to you OP, as you move forward!

Thanks OP for continuing with this thread!

I feel really good, actually better than what I was feeling before on the mostly plant based diet. The bloating I was dealing with is completely gone, (as well as being gassy every night, TMI lol), I've lost a few pounds and am now back into my maintenance range comfortably, and I've had a significant decrease in appetite.…

I have an itty bitty kitchen that right now leads into a room that we're remodeling-last week my fridge was in the middle of my kitchen and you could only open the door halfway :p There's very limited counter space but my food scale and Nutribullet are both on it and shall always get first dibs on the counter lol. Our old…

I'm 6 years into maintenance at this point and still have days where I feel really blech about where I'm at-completely ridiculous and I know that, but sometimes it just creeps in. I don't know that it will ever completely go away, but I have noticed the thoughts become less frequent the further along I go. Thinking about…

Chipotle seasoned chicken breast with a large side of broccoli, with butter and Parmesan cheese; cottage cheese.

Not true. Weight loss, weight gain, and weight maintenance is 100% about energy balance. If one wants to lose weight then they must be at the correct calorie deficit needed, to achieve their weight loss goals. Back during my active weight loss phase I lost around 50lbs and improved all my health markers (including…

I'm a long ways into this process and really I can't think of anything I'd consider a mistake, except I stopped weighing myself for a while last year because I became overly confident in my ability to do maintenance. Ended up with some weight creep that I finally got taken care of recently. So making sure I'm honest with…

Meh, to each their own. I walk several times a week and that's it for intentional exercise. I'm also at a very health BMI and have excellent health markers and blood work panels. I enjoy walking and have no interest in doing anything besides that right now. I wear size small/sz 4 clothes and my hubby of 16 years still…

I'm currently doing lower carb, 50-75g net carbs. It's going really well for me-no more bloating, I've lost a few pounds of stubborn weight that I've been struggling with, (I'm in maintenance and had crept out of my maintenance range). And by moving macros ratios around to a higher fat, lower carb intake, along with an…

Except that excess calories, regardless of what kinds of foods they come from, leads to excess weight which can cause serious health problems. I eat healthy foods in the correct calorie amounts for my stats. If I started eating the same foods as I was now, but in excess amounts and started gaining weight, I would no longer…
