  • It really has been eye opening-I was eating a lot of 'healthy' carbs-lots of whole grains, beans, fruit etc. But, my calorie intake was getting pretty loose with this-I was labeling Wheat Thins as a whole grain (hey, the box says it is :p ), and I was going through two boxes a week. I do struggle with savory/salty type…
  • "Normal" is a completely subjective term and will vary between individuals. And it can change, (in my case quite a bit over the past few years). For me right now 'normal' is 16:8IF along with a moderate carb intake (50g-75g net carbs). A month ago I was eating a high carb, mostly plan based diet and no IF. Who know's what…
  • MFP isn't just a calorie counting site though. There's lots of us who use the site for the forums, for the fitness aspect of it, to track macros etc. I don't track calories on MFP but I've been using the forums on and off for years now, most of those while in maintenance.
  • This. I do 16:8IF but have no problem with one or two cups of coffee, with splenda and half&half, outside of my eating window. A few calories outside of my window isn't a big deal and it doesn't trigger an increase in hunger, like I find with eating a meal in the morning.
  • [Week Two] Name: zeejane How long in maintenance: 6 years Goal maintenance range: 130lbs-135lbs Current weight: 132.8lbs Current goal: continuing to research and experiment with a lower carb woe (transitioning from a high carb, mostly plant based diet) Saw a number on the scale I haven't seen in over a year, now in the…
  • I'm currently experimenting with a lower carb woe (50-75 net carbs) and I ate several sandwiches this past week. I either use a low carb wrap (5 net carbs), or I use a whole grains bread that isn't labeled low carb but isn't too bad after I factor in the fiber.
  • Agree, I'd be curious to know pp's stats, that's getting them this kind of burn from walking.
  • Went out to a local diner and had a 3 egg veggie omelet (no toast or potatoes on the side).
  • Back in 2012 I was around 180lbs/prediabetic. This morning's weigh-in put me at 133.6lbs, (BMI 21.6), and my blood-work consistently comes back with normalized glucose numbers now. I've been in maintenance for years now, and I still learn new things about nutrition/food all the time, and I'm constantly tweaking my…
  • So be a part of the 10% that do succeed :) Maintenance has its own challenges, but it's not impossible and there's many of us who've been successfully maintaining for many years.
  • I've been doing IF protocols for around 7 years and have always continued to used artificial sweetener during my non-eating windows (either splenda in my coffee or diet soda).
  • Green smoothies can taste really good, depending on what you put in them, and a half of an avocado in one makes it really creamy, like a shake :) I always add a serving of Dannon Triple 0 Greek yogurt to it, for the protein and flavor- my favorite is the orange cream…
  • Calorie intake 1,698/-125ish calories for brisk 2 mile walk Potassium 4123mg I'm a 40 yr old female, who's in maintenance (133.2lbs) Before 10am -cup of coffee with half&half (1tbsp) 10am-4pm -cup of coffee with half&half (2tbsp) -green smoothie: frozen kale, frozen berries, flavored Triple 0 Greek yogurt, avocado -thin…
  • MFP does not have a net carb tracking option. I use another (free) site that does.

  • I hit just over 4000mg yesterday on a 1,700ish calorie intake, before exercise was factored in. I wasn't trying to focus on potassium rich foods, it's just where my number hit from what I wanted to eat. I can list out what I ate, if you're interested. But Op, why is your calorie intake so low? 1,500 for a guy seems quite…
  • Thanks! I'm in maintenance and have been eating a higher carb, mostly plant based diet. But, due to some digestion issues/stomach bloating, along with some weight creep, I decided to try something completely new and a couple weeks ago started lowering my carb intake, to around 100g a day. Since then I've settled in the…
  • low carb wrap with turkey, salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar and honey mustard; cottage cheese
  • Just joined the group yesterday and am exploring the primal way of eating right now. Just picked up my library hold of The New Primal Blueprint-dang is that a big book lol! Going to start it this afternoon :)
  • I've been at this whole process for over 7 years now. For me the key is to never stop learning and to always question what I think is 'healthy', which means I keep going deeper and deeper into different food and nutrition topics. I also always have new goals to work towards, which can be as simple as cutting off a minute…
  • I track on another site and still keep an eye on my calorie intake, though right now I'm focusing on my carb intake/playing around with that. I'm in maintenance so I have a bit of wiggle room at this point, but I still use my food scale every day to measure out the correct portion sizes for most of my food :)
  • I know it sounds overwhelming but once you do it a couple times it's actually really easy-I can now do a whole month's plan, along with corresponding grocery lists, in under an hour :)
  • I meal plan a month at a time and it makes things a lot easier for me during the week. I have a master list, with recipes pulled and attached, and then each week I spend a few minutes looking at my calendar and lining up meals with days. As we go through the meals I just cross them off. I shop bi-weekly but get the most of…
  • My go-to snack right now is 150 calories of pistachio nuts, but with shell on so I have to take the time to shell them as I eat them. Makes the snack last longer and I don't feel so sad that 150 calories of pistachios is still a very tiny amount lol. Op, I also like flavored popcorn. Right now I'm eating Aldi snack bags of…
  • seasoned ribeye on my g.f. grill, cubed and mixed in with sauteed mushrooms and onion, with A-1 sauce; cottage cheese.
  • Different macros ratios effect people differently though, and some find a lower carb, higher protein and or fat macros split to have longer satiety levels for them. Weight loss comes down to calories, but finding a macros ratio that works well for you will make the whole process easier and more enjoyable.
  • LaCroix doesn't have any added sweeteners, it's a bit pricey but my Aldi carries it now, for $3.50-12pk, so that's not bad (it's over $5 at the other grocery stores).
  • Going into my experiment I set a target of 100g a day of carbs, but I'm just not hungry so that number has been creeping down (today I'll be at 52g of net carbs). I'm still eating a lot of veggies, but I have reduced whole grains and eliminated the daily serving of beans I was eating (my stomach is much calmer now!). Fruit…

  • Diet soda and LaCroix sparkling flavored waters (non-sweetened).
  • Are you tracking your calorie intake and accurately measuring out correct portion sizes with a food scale? Macros don't mean a whole lot for weight loss, it's your calorie intake that you need to be focusing on.
  • I'm not a big drinker so I can't answer to that, but I am currently experimenting with lowering my carb intake, (from over 200 carbs a day, down to around 50-60 net carbs right now). I haven't experienced any edginess/increased jittery-ness. The only major thing has been a reduced appetite, so I have to be mindful to make…
