  • Definitely looking for more accountablilty. I've been eating like crap but now that both of my knees are replaced and healed up, I'm walking almost every day again.
  • You must be getting excited! I'm over a year out now and while I've certainly lost, I'm struggling with eating again. I have been walking more. I have two new knees that made this possible so I'm hoping with more movement I'll spark some motivation. Let us know how you're getting on before and after surgery.
  • Yes yes showering and drying off are so much easier! I can reach places! Buying smaller clothes for me is another one.
  • Ugh what a horrible learning experience. I had the lapband for 12 years and was not using it well. I remember well the foamies and sliming. Like I've already over eaten so now I am producing all kinds of saliva that there's no room for so trying not to throw up and then spitting out the foamies and slime from abundant…

  • I have tried therapy with regards to my eating disorder(s) and ongoing depression. It wasn't effective but mainly because I don't think that therapist was a good fit. I need to try again because I've not been eating properly at all. I've also not been doing the walking I set as my goal for the month so I've been beating…
  • Alright! On time this month and rarin To Go! With my two new knees working well and walking feeling good, that is my goal. Starting with 5000 steps a day and increasing by 1000 each week. (Final judgement on that based on pain level as I recover still).
  • And I'm even later! But life for me has now included my second knee replacement! Woowoo! It'll be 14 days Friday since surgery and while I'm not supposed to compare to two knees (my physio therapist scolds me hard when I do lol) I can't help it. This one is recovering well, PT is going well and there is definitely progress…
  • Thanks for sharing the experience you've had so far. It can be really hard when you are face to face with others just eating like normal in front of you. But two weeks out is early, it will get easier to eat and drink. Maybe you could excuse yourself from meals, maybe go for a small walk once everyone sits down to eat…
  • Welcome! You are doing great and seem like you are back doing things right! Great work!
  • LMAO that is a great quote and needs to be remembered for sure! I have started this week off with a new plan. See, I've gotten sick of the protein shakes... I will mix the remainder into my coffee to use them up but need a good break from them. What I am doing is stocking smoothie ingredients. Fat free Greek yogurt, frozen…
  • Shauna, you are an inspiration. Not only for the weight you've lost but your spirit as you try to get and keep this group going. I am not as active on here as I was. Still not tracking my food grrr (it's like a hill I can't seem to climb). I was so motivated after surgery. Wanting to make sure I was eating enough protein…
  • Welcome! This is a great group that Shauna has set up and keeps up so wonderfully. My surgery was April 19th this year and I was finally able to get my first knee replacement done thanks to my sleeve surgery and the progress I've made. Feel free to add me as well. I'm not as consistent with logging in as I was but want to…
  • Happy Surgiversary! You are a huge inspiration and a great support! <3 Nan
  • After the venting I did I had to share the outcome. I'm feeling better physically thanks to the reminder from her and the fact I'm eating better again. It's true, with the small stomach I was all protein protein protein because it's drilled in so hard. But I feel good now and glad to have this place to share.
  • Had a great meeting with the nutritionist on Friday. We had a good long chat (I was nice and early and she took me in early) The balance I really need is Fibre and it was like a light bulb in my head. It was fibre specifically that would help me and it already has. I knew that but it had seemed to have fallen out of my…
  • Thanks as always Shauna. I had a nervous moment yesterday and feel a bit more connected back into the journey. By nervous moment I mean I was having palpitations. I've been having them recently off and on, in fact. I'll be talking to the nutritionist and my primary doc about it too... not just going by what I've been…
  • Welcome to the group and your new stomach! I was the same, eager for getting back to real food. Patience and practice and Protein! haha My surgery was April 19th and I'm steadily dropping weight at a pace that doesn't feel too fast. Feel free to add me as a friend! I've not been tracking too much but I do check in here…
  • Welcome! You will get there. Slow and steady on the liquids and getting used to the new stomach size and the way you need to eat. You got this!
  • WOO! That is fantastic! Way to go! It is so awesome to feel something so significant like that. I can't wait to really feel the difference like that!
  • I had a great post op Ed session with my doctor's nutritionist yesterday and one of the thing we talked about was my worry over stretching my new stomach and regain. It's common and she was very reassuring that as long as we don't consistently overeat, the risk is minimal at most of stretching things out again and thus…
  • Changing eating habits is probably the hardest thing. The way, not just the what. Like taking small bites and chewing them very very well... Waiting before adding more food into my mouth... Not drinking during meals. There are lists we all have of things that are a challenge and could be a challenge for the rest of our…
  • Along with the fear of regaining I am still worried I'm losing too slow and already doing damage/stretching the new stomach out. I can't stop!! I just keep worrying!
  • So exciting for you! Go!
  • Hi Shauna! I am on my way to join you! I NEED more accountability and while I am trying (as you know) to make MFP a daily thing with tracking and so on... I'm not doing well with it at all. I agree wholeheartedly that the notifications here are very subpar... Feel free to message me with more/any info!!
  • Welcome and congratulations! So I have a confession about presurgery and my pre-op diet. I knew the cut-off point for when I had to start the proper pre-op diet to shrink my liver... So I indulged in favourite foods up to then. And I mean indulged! haha Even on the pre-op diet, I didn't worry at all about trying to get…
  • Grabbed the Active Era scale from Amazon! Really cool!
  • Welcome!
  • OMG I have this fear too! It's what makes me want to weigh myself everyday. I mean, I'm not even 4 months out and I'm always worried I've already stretched the thing out!! I have to talk myself off the ledge regularly. So I've started down a new journey of self-care/wellness with a really cool journal subscription. Monthly…
  • So amazing! You are rocking your journey!
