No, I’ve just had my period. So annoying.

Yes. I have an app which is good. I’m just frustrated working hard at checking and counting and not seeing results. Thanks everyone. Blah. Fingers crossed I see a little progress soon!
-
Thank you. I have 40 lbs to lose.
-
That’s super helpful. Basically I started at the beginning of July when I was 182.6 I lost steadily until 10 days ago when I hit 176. It briefly dipped to 174 but then went back to 176 where it has stayed since then. I can’t exercise much due to a knee thing but I have started walking and burning bits here and there I…

I hope this will happen for me! I’ve gone 10 days now and nothing. It briefly dipped by 2 lbs half way through but for the last week there has been no shift, and in fact it has crept up. So I am same weight I was 10 days ago
-
Thanks for your advice
-
I think I will get one of those. I can see that I haven’t gained back all that I lost, but I started to get a bit worried when I realised I haven’t lost at all in one week.

As people have explained, it’s all about CICO. But I must say that when I have protein for lunch, like I did today, it makes a HUGE difference in how full I feel for the rest of the day. That has the knock on effect of helping me not snack etc.
-
Ok, I see what you mean, and that’s actually helpful. Many thanks! Big learning curve for me
-
Well the problem is that on your chart it says 94 calories per 100g, but in other places it calculates it as 110 calories per 100g. I cooked a large chicken breast and that would mean almost 30 calories difference. Wherever I look, I get a different value
-
So, fluctuations are real. Just got on the scale and it’s 174.4 I’m totally supporting ANYONE who gets anxious about this in the future. This community is amazing - thanks to everyone’s help I am able to worry less and just keep at it. Thank you to everyone x
-
Blah. I know you’re all right, just frustrated - I’m on a mission!!!

I’ve been having 140g cod loin cooked in 5g unsalted butter, on a broad bean, pea and tomato stew quite a lot - that can come in at less than 400 calories. For a snack I like 175g of 0% total yogurt with fruit and a teaspoon or two of honey, that’s under 200 calories. I also do a Niçoise salad with bell pepper, tomato,…
-
Haha! I also avoid now. I like it, but not at three million cals per teaspoon lol
-
Yes but dry isn’t available on the packet or website, that’s why I posted about this. It’s v annoying.
-
Thanks all

I’m really worried now. I weighed myself 200g cooked pasta thinking it amounted to 350calories, br that seems wrong
-
It’s really disheartening when people criticise someone for asking similar questions - working out calories can be complicated, especially for beginners - if you don’t want to answer, don’t, nobody is forcing you too. Ironically, I think people expressing worry and wanting to get it right is a sign that they *are* sincere,…

Oh I feel you - before I joined this community I was doing all this working out and trying to eat healthy and then I got a terrible injury and everything slowed to a snail’s pace and then I actually gained weight. So I was v despondent when I started. I know it’s for different reasons, but I’m just saying that me - and I’m…

Welcome. People on these forums have been super helpful to me and I recommend reaching out when you need support.

Yes this is a slightly different question, actually. The pasta is not regular penne - it is gluten free. It gives calories for cooked weight and there is nothing on the side for what a portion size is
-
Plus how do Italian women stay so thin?! Olive oil + pasta?!?!
-
I definitely don’t miss it enough to get upset about it - I don’t eat bread either (IBS), so low carbs isn’t new to me. I guess that it was more the surprise. When you start weighing and paying attention, you realise where the extra calories come from - where you were going wrong without even realising. Like olive oil - I…

Thank you everyone x x

I should say the packet says 170g per 100g cooked, which is annoying as I want to know what the caloric content is dried
-
Yes I do lower the amount but you do need some fat for cooking on hot pans etc. Agree healthy but I find if you’re not careful it can hugely increase the calorie count of the meal.
-
Yes. I had assumed that. Ok, so the pot says 67 cals per 100g, and there are 170g in total. I can see from the ingredients that the blueberry compote ingredients are included, so I am going to take the 67 cals as including the compote and enter this as 114 in my diary xx

I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone who reassured, encouraged and reasoned with me when I was freaking out. Basically, despite the fluctuations, it seems like I have lost around 3-4lbs in the 2 weeks-ish since I started. So you know, I just have to keep it up and also I am starting to walk a little on my knee…

Yes that’s an idea. I have to admit I didn’t think the oats did much for it. I think protein powder works well with banana, and sometimes the almond milk can be replaced with water. A lot of people like yogurt rather than oats for thickness / substance?
-
Well that’s difficult because for me it’s important to know what I’m doing is working. But agree it’s not helpful to keep on checking. What I do is check every 3 days or so.
