Introduction and living on 1200 cpd
Hello, I am a female, aged 40, and 5 feet 4” tall. I currently weigh 180.6 and none of my clothes fit, so I’ve decided to try to slim down. MFP has calculated that to lose weight (2 lbs per week), I need to reduce caloric intake to 1200. Does anyone else struggle to do this?! I find I am very hungry fro 3/4pm onwards. 1200…

I’ve gained another 0.2 pounds since yesterday :( what’s wrong with me
I just can’t stand it - I’m four weeks in, working out between 30-45 mins per day a mixture of cardio and resistance through the body project online workouts Calories are 1500 per day which is what I was recommended by MFP for weight loss. I’m doing everything I can and the scale just goes up and up I am not slimming down…

MORE gain - what is going on
Hi, I could really do with some support. I’ve gained 2.8 lbs this week despite working out consistently (6 days per week for a month now), and sticking within calories (1400-1500 per day). I am really demoralised - I just can’t understand what I am doing wrong

Seem to be gaining despite working out daily
Hi all, I’ve tried before to lose weight, through calorie restriction. I always went too hard too fast and never got exercise, with the end result I was constantly losing 10lbs and gaining it back. Since December I have been working out 6 times per week with The Body Project. I notice I am fitter but strangely I do not…

Anyone up for starting again with me?
So, I gained back everything I lost. I lost 10lbs and then I got fed up with obsessive calorie counting and tracking - I was having stress dreams about not knowing what was in things and it just got so bad that I decided to stop. And of course I have gained everything back and now I feel ashamed and awful. The worst part…

Starting again - please help
Hi, I am 180lbs. I’ve gained back everything I lost this year, basically as soon as I stopped restricting to 1200 a day I gained and gained. I feel as though unless I’m constantly starving, I just keep gaining. I don’t seem to be able to eat normally. I don’t know what to do and I would really like some support. I’m 5 foot…

Just can’t seem to break this stall
So I’m 5’4” and 172 lbs, 38 years old female. Been at this since July. Hard to exercise because of my hip and knee so I primarily targeted diet. I reduced to 1200 calories per day and lost 10lbs. Then I stalled and since then have been gradually gaining. I can’t quite see where I’m going wrong. I log every day although I…

Calories in a tin of cooked chick peas - help!
Hey all, The drained weight of the cooked and tinned chick peas I want to make is 240g but there is no calorie info on the label. Some guesses have it as high as 350 calories per 240g drained weight, others put it as low as 171. Can you help?

Apple Watch vs MFP vs Fitbit
Hey all, I find a huge variance in calculations of calories earned via different devices and wondered if people had thoughts? I returned fitbit Inspire HR because it was way, way off - we are talking telling me I had ‘earned’ 600 calories from 8k steps of walking. Then I got Apple Watch series 3 but I am finding same…

Fitbit Inspire HR - is it hopeless? So inaccurate
Hi All I’m having a really hard time with not losing weight and trying to get as accurate as I can at the moment. I bought a Fitbit Inspire HR to help me feel more confident about calories earned / burned through exercise. I’m not looking to eat those calories, just to understand what I’m burning. I found when I walked 10k…

Returned my Inspire HR - totally inaccurate
I found that for me, the fitbit was no good. It was so sensitive that it was logging absolutely everything as a ‘step’ and today it told me I had ‘earned’ an extra 671 calories - MFP calculated it at 122. I don’t think the Inspire is very accurate - most forum entries say the same ie it’s way off and over estimates. I find…

Can this be accurate?
All I did was a bit of walking around today??

Inspire HR question
Hello I have got the Inspire HR and don’t quite understand whether I need to let it know when I start walking? Most of my exercise consists of walking - gently but for long periods. Does that count as a ‘cardio’ activity that I need to time? Thanks

do you have to tell Fitbit you’re walking?
Hi, Do I need to tell my Fitbit that I’m walking? Isn’t the point supposed to be that it knows how many calories I’m burning based on heart rate etc? Seems very annoying to start and stop whenever I’m walking around etc WLkinf is my main form of exercise

Confused by FitBit - any help appreciated!
Hi, I got the Inspire HR and just set it up. In the app it says I’ve burned 1241 calories today. But I have no idea how it came up with that figure - I only set it up 20 minutes ago?? Does it calculate based on your weight and height, and the fact that it thinks I’ve done no exercise today?

Terrible binge: 1000 calories over my goal
I am just posting this because I don’t know what else I can do. I went 1000 over my goal today. I know why - I wanted comfort, and warmth, because I’m stressed to hell, I’m lonely, and I wanted comfort. The more food I bought that didn’t really satisfy me, the worse it got. I had cake (400 calories), a toffee sundae (420…

Not losing - can anyone help
Hello, I seem to have hit another plateau and have not lost in the last 10 days despite sticking more or less to 1200 calories a day. This was based on me being 5’4” and currently 172lbs, but sedentary due to hip problems making exercise almost impossible (except gentle walking which I try to do daily) Some people have…

Really lovely veggie meal with pics 470 cals
Hi everyone, I wanted to share my meal which came in at 470. I made a herb salad with radish, walnut and feta (tiny amounts) - half of what you see here was 60 calories I also made ottolenghi charred tomatoes with cold yogurt, half of which was 200 cals And then half of this beautiful chick pea stew was another 150, with…

Are the ‘steps’ calories counted on MFP relatively accurate?
I’ve had a difficult couple of days with over-eating etc. Today I walked a lot - I would just like to know whether people think the MFP estimate of calories based on steps is relatively accurate? It would be great if it was more or less right, as then I would pretty much have burned off my overspend today!

Pasta is SO calorific!
That is all. Just marvelling at how many calories are in even a small bowl. Think I’m definitely a volume eater!!

Calories in a chicken thigh - confused!
Hello everyone, I have 4 chicken thighs, skin on, each weighing 140g. The packet says ‘each portion as prepared’ are 229 calories. Does this sound correct? I have no idea whether that means with skin on or off?? I know the calories in my marinade but can’t for the life of me work out how many calories to estimate per…

Gah - STILL no loss, 10 days at same weight BLAH
Send me some motivating thoughts please - getting on for 10 days no loss I am hoping something will shift soon - does anyone think it is worth me trying to kick start the losing process somehow? someone recommended perhaps fasting, or even increasing calories intake? SO frustrated!

Thoughts on fitbits?
Do you use one? Are they accurate? What do you use them for? Recommendations? I hear they don’t count calories accurately so I am wondering if it’s worth it or not. Thoughts appreciated!

When are fluctuations just gains?
Hello, I do know about fluctuations and I accept that this is a journey where there will be ups and downs. I’m just a little concerned that I seem not to have lost at all in one week. Since last Sunday my weight briefly dipped from 176 down to 174, but then over the last 4 days I seem to have gained the 2 lbs back. Just…

How I can work our whilst recovering from knee surgery?
Hey all, I am wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions for how I could increase my calorie burn whilst not being able to do much with my lower body. Weight loss has stalled since Sunday
How annoying! That is all. Just that I’m impatient and would like to see some loss. It’s normal though, right? 4 days and no loss?

So I have lost no weight in one week
I just don’t get if. I left it for a few days as the feedback I got before was that I need to wait etc, which is fine, but here I am a week later, the exact same weight as when I started. I’ve rigorously logged all my food and drink. I started at 183.6 and now I’m 183.7

Good protein smoothie recipe please? Ideally with nut butter
I am finding that protein is what helps me not over eat and also helps me avoid powerful sugar cravings at night. I’m thinking some protein shakes might be good for me, so would like some recipes under 300 cals ideally
