  • Yes. Deliberately lost weight once and kept it off, (+5lbs but that's just maintenance to me). Lost it again after 2 pregnancies. I have since kept it off mostly because I really changed the way that I eat and I became active (I was mostly sedentary the first time around). Now, I'll go in a calorie deficit every now and…
  • You sound a lot like me! Started out all diet (first with WW). Exercise came later. I slowly got into running and then weight lifting and then I started paying more attention to calories and macros. I've done running distances between 5K and marathon, two sprint triathlons, and am starting to consider myself an endurance…
  • I also commute to work and live right by a trail that goes all the way to my work as well! It’s awesome. Where I live I can bike all year round. It gets pretty rainy but I’ve got good gear. I love it because even if I didn’t do some other dedicated exercise that day (a run or weights) I always have biking. I have done 2…
  • First, I would decide how many days per week you want to strength train. Then Google, “3 day (for example) workout split dumbbells” and there are lots of good routines already built. Or you could build your own plan. Again, decide how many days, split into muscle groups, the choose exercises for those days. I just look up,…
  • I’m just echoing most people here I guess! It really doesn’t matter what diet you do, it’s all about calories in and out. I’ve lost and gained weight on both an omnivorous diet and now a plant based diet. Removing foods from your diet for weight loss reasons will not help in the long run. You want this to be something you…
  • I’m working on this myself so here are my strategies: - Don’t totally cut out foods I like from my diet (for me one of my big ones is bread and allowing myself to have a piece of toast or a small sandwich is key) - On the other hand, there are trigger foods that I just have too hard a time moderating. For me this is chips!…

  • Tofu!! It’s cheap and an awesome source of protein. I used to be wary of it but I’ve since learned so many different and interesting ways to cook and use it. Check out the baked tofu bites, Chili, and taco crumbles recipes on the recipe blog It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken for starters. Those are some of my favourite and…
  • Anyone can add me! I restarted just over 2 weeks ago with 12 pounds to lose and have made zero progress! 😩
  • @ciaoder It’s true yes! Between work, kids, running, my time is pretty full. Thanks for the advice! @AnnPT77 You know, I really should try journaling again. It’s something I’m always wishing I did. Thanks for sharing your experience. Like you said, I’m also quite sure I’m doing everything right. Sometimes I think the…
  • @snowflake954 Thanks for the reply. Yes I definitely feel like I’m doing everything right so I’ll keep plugging away and making sure to keep my tracking on point. @ciaoder Yes, training is going well. Really hoping I see a change soon, especially with the cycling. It’ll be about 23km both ways. I’m definitely not feeling…
  • I was actually thinking of doing that. I don’t get 137 on the dot every day, but 137.2, 137.6, back to 137, and repeat. But can’t hurt to try!
  • Thanks for the insight! I’m so torn because I’d already decided on doing a bulk and then this race was announced and it would kill me to not do it. I don’t do many races (just two 10Ks a year and I did a couple of sprint triathlons) but Covid has got me itching to get back after all the cancellations. I guess I’ll just see…
  • I decided to end my fat loss 3 weeks early because I felt like I was in a good spot to start maintenance and so far, so good. I’ve been in maintenance for a week. Had an initial big gain and then settled into a 2-3 pound steady weight up from where I was. Calories varied a bit but when averaged came out pretty close to…
  • Thank you both for the input! You're right, I really should be giving myself more time. I'm glad doing maintenance first is a good idea. I also figure it'll give me a chance to get used to eating more, both physically and mentally! I may go into maintenance sooner. I'm trying to focus extra well on my nutrition so I can…
  • Thank you for the input! That would make sense to extend to the holidays for lots of reasons...I think I’ll start and then see how it goes and how I feel mid-October. I can always just go from there depending on how I feel!
  • Hi! I hope it’s ok to ask for advice here! :) I want to try bulking for the first time. I’ve been strength training over the last two years (some home, some gym) and have definitely gotten stronger and can lift pretty heavy but always with a focus on fat loss. I definitely have a bit of a fear of weight gain since I have…
  • Thanks for the info! I’m pretty particular about my measuring but I’ll be taking a closer look for sure. I weigh myself daily because I like having more data.
  • Yes, I took the average between lightly and moderately active because I feel like I fall somewhere in between there. So that was 2113, so a deficit of 470, some days around 400 if I go over a bit. Not a huge deficit but just trying to keep losing in a sustainable way.
  • Thank you the reply! I had a feeling it was a matter of being patient. As much as I’d like to see the scale move down, I’m still feeling great about my diet and exercise. I’ll consider all your points, I can definitely double check a few of those things, definitely not pregnant at least lol! And I have really ramped up my…
  • Hi! I’ve been plant based for two years now. At first it was a bit daunting as I needed to find new go-to recipe websites and recipes. It was tough at first trying to figure out what to eat but I stuck with it and it’s opened up a lot of new things I didn’t eat before! I’ll give you a few of my go-to websites: Rainbow…
