Exactly this. As a man (especially if you are tall or muscular) you will get a very different response from other men. That’s why the women here are more understanding of the OP’s point.

I’ve never cut tomatoes out of my diet, but I eat a lot more of them in summer than in winter because my Dad’s garden is full of them. I haven’t noticed any changes in my health between tomato season and the rest of the year.

So many ideas to try. My diary will contain nothing but peanut butter snacks for the next week!

Definitely Richard 😁

There’s a lot of people thinking it was a flirting attempt. Does this really happen?? Maybe I’ve missed a few attempted flirts over the years. I just expected that any guy trying to hit on me would say something nice!

All of the above, plus with bananas. Also made into a sweet sauce and poured over ice cream.

Tastes like the food of the gods, but really sent by the devil to derail my weight loss attempts.

There’s a reason you’ve never had that happen. Free weights areas are nearly always full of men doing their best to “out-man” each other. It’s not a pleasant atmosphere, and even less so when they decide that the poor weak woman must have wandered in there by mistake and obviously can’t cope on her own. Guys, if we’re in…

Which language do you speak? There will be some people here who speak the same.

It’s a long time since I bought one (I’ve been breastfeeding and my bra size is all over the place!) but the last one I had was called Shock Absorber and it was very comfortable. Disclaimer: I am pretty small in the boob area, so if you’re large you might want advice from someone else!

The highest calorie foods in my diary (apart from the sugary junk which I’m cutting down on!) are peanut butter, humous, nuts, tofu, potatoes, pasta, beans and meat replacements like burgers and sausages. Most of them aren’t hugely high in calories, but I eat at least one of them at almost every meal so it adds up. If you…

I teach Ju-jitsu and I agree with everyone above. Your fitness won’t be a problem, I’ve had students who started at every level of fitness and all sizes from slim to obese. Your knee might cause issues though. There’s quite a bit of bouncing around in the warmup, then when you start throwing people the power for the lift…

I haven’t noticed any elbow pains, despite having pains almost everywhere else! Do you think it was the moves with weights, or the planks and push-ups that caused it? You could try with very light weights - I didn’t buy my weights until I was on level 2 and I used tins of food or cartons of juice as weights before that!
-
Finally got back to the shred today, I haven’t done it for about a week (I’ve been running and lifting weights instead). I’m not feeling as out of breath while I’m doing it, but I still can’t keep up with all the jumping moves!

I add soy sauce to lots of things and mfp always warns me that it’s high in sodium!

Well done to those of you who manage to talk yourselves out of the unhealthy choices. I need to do this a lot more!

Welcome back. I did the same thing, joined a few years ago but only used it properly in the last few months. It’s working well now I’m paying attention! Good luck 😊

Forgot to add, your hormones can influence your weight at different times of the month. I lost really quickly for a couple of weeks, then gained a bit the next 2 weeks, then lost quickly again. You might find that you’ve lost weight when you’ve been through a full menstrual cycle.

You have quite a few friends on your list, have you looked at any of their food diaries? It might give you some new ideas. I don’t eat fish and I don’t digest raw vegetables very well (Crohn’s disease), so none of my meals are fish or salad. Vegetables seem to be the best foods for filling me up with very few calories, so…

I’ve finally lost some weight! Down 3lb to 156. 😊

I like Billy Blanks Tae Bo too. It’s high energy, usually works the whole body, and the punching and kicking is good for stress relief! I’d also have a punchbag at home if I had space 😊

Can you link to a study? I’ve never heard this and I’d like to see some evidence. I eat beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, peanut butter, other types of nuts, and some convenience foods like vegan sausages and burgers (I know they’re not the healthiest options but they taste good and you’re going to need some fat if you want…

It’s great when you feel strong at the end of a workout. Must be time for the next level! I did 3 races last year, 2 half marathons and a 10k. My favourite was the huge half marathon with 5000 runners. The atmosphere was amazing and it was really well organised. That’s the one I’m doing again next year. I’d definitely…

My husband eats meat and it’s definitely the most expensive part of our food budget. I would guess that if I ate an identical diet to him, and replaced every meat or dairy item with a vegan substitute it would cost about the same. In reality we eat very differently and I often eat beans, nuts, lentils and chickpeas which…

I was going to do the shred last night, but ate well over my calorie allowance so I wanted to burn more calories! I did an advanced Tae Bo dvd instead. I ran 5 miles this morning, though I had to walk a fair bit on the steepest hill.

This evening I had vegetable stew with a load of peanut butter stirred into it. I would have loved a thick slice of crusty bread with it, but I’m trying to lose weight not gain! Chilli made with soya mince and beans, served with rice and cornbread is very filling (and the cornbread is sadly high in calories!). I’m a big…

It’s really hard with little kids. I also have a nine year old so I know it gets better. In a couple of years my 3 year olds will be able to manage a decent walk without begging to be carried, and they’ll understand that crawling between my feet while I’m doing a workout is a terrible idea (hopefully!)! I’m currently able…

Hi Fee, welcome to mfp 😊 What kind of goals are you working on? Losing weight, building muscle, getting fit? I’ve got a few more pounds to lose, and I’m slowly building up to running a half marathon next year. Feel free to add me if you’re looking for new friends.

I had long hair my whole life, then had it cut very short a couple of years ago. I should have done it earlier - no more hair in my eyes or sticking to my sweaty face, and it never gets accidentally ripped out any more (I’m a martial artist and mother of toddlers, so there were plenty of situations where long hair got…

I also love running with my dog. He’s a border collie so he could run all day if I could manage it! I have to arrange my running time well in advance and guard it carefully. My husband works full time and is also on call for his second job when he’s at home, so unless he books time off I can’t leave him with the kids. I…
