  • It’s a bad idea to eat at a calorie deficit during pregnancy, so if you’re doing keto to lose weight it’s probably best to wait until you’ve given birth. I don’t know much about keto so can’t say whether one keto meal per day would have much effect on a toddler, but again it’s a bad idea for growing children to eat at a…
  • You look so much younger! Amazing transformation!
  • Thanks, I found my username and changed it so it’s the same as my mfp one.
  • I’ve been using a Garmin Forerunner for over a year and I love it. I’m probably being a bit dim, but can anyone tell me how to find my username on the app? It’s a long time since I set it up! I also have no idea how to join a group. Do I need to sign in online or can I do it on the app?
  • Which country are you in? If you’re here in the U.K. the laws on allergy labelling have made it a bit easier to scan ingredients lists. Milk, eggs and fish are common allergens, so they are always highlighted. Gelatine is generally not highlighted, so you’ll have to look a bit more carefully for that. Don’t worry about the…
  • I was vegetarian throughout all my pregnancies and never had an issue with protein or other nutrients. I was very hungry and ate lots of everything, attempting to keep my choices as healthy as possible. During my first pregnancy I used a workout DVD designed for pregnant women (it’s by Erin O’Brien if anyone is…
  • I’m a 36 year old mum of 3, including twin toddlers. I have a set of weights and several Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVDs. I love yoga with Adriene on YouTube. I’m also a keen runner, and I make running alone a priority whenever I have a bit of time without the children. It helps to clear my head and puts me in a good mood as well…
  • I’ve added you, my diary is open to friends. 😊
  • A huge well done to you for doing this despite your depression. Good luck with finding a helpful dietician and therapist.
  • I’ve added you. I eat too much junk and I’m trying to cook more whole foods recipes, so it’ll be nice to see what you’re eating.
  • It depends on which restaurant you’re in. Some have calories listed on the menu, some have it on their website. You’re more likely to find the information if you’re eating in a big chain restaurant. The smaller ones don’t usually have anyone to work out the calories in every recipe.
  • Hi, I’m not too far from you, in North Derbyshire. Been vegan since September 2018, vegetarian since 1990.
  • Hi, I’ve been vegan for just over a year, and vegetarian for 28 years before that. I’ve been running short distances to keep fit for about 20 years, but only started to run longer distances in the last 2 years. Last year I ran 2 half marathons. Next year I’m planning to run the same 2 races faster, and add a full marathon…
  • Seems like very little activity on here, but I’ll join in case it livens up again. I’m mainly a runner and martial artist, but I’m interested in competitive bodybuilding and would love to compete in figure. Next year’s goals are all running related, but I’ll be lifting regularly and bodybuilding more seriously by the end…
  • That’s a shame. Deep fried is also my favourite way to eat tofu, especially from the Chinese takeaway!
  • 1300 calories is pretty low, so it’s unlikely that your settings are wrong (unless you are very petite and don’t move much at all), but it’s easy to eat more than you think. Are you counting everything including things like drinks and cooking oil? Do you weigh your food or guess what size portions you’re eating? The…
  • Hi GT, welcome to mfp 😊 Good luck with your goal, I’m sure you’ll find the app and the forums really helpful.
  • I’ve only tried tempeh once and I didn’t like it much. It has a very different taste and texture to tofu. I didn’t really know what to do with it, so maybe I’ll find a decent recipe and try it again. Hopefully someone who likes it will come along and give us some ideas on how to cook it!
  • Flavoured rice cakes. Salt and vinegar or sweet chilli are my favourites. Great dipped in humous or salsa.
  • As you can see from my username I identify very much as a Ju-jitsu instructor. For years that was my main sport, and I ran to improve my fitness for Ju-jitsu. When I decided to make a training plan and run a half marathon I decided I could finally call myself a runner! Fitness is definitely a big part of my identity. I…
  • The majority of recipes using butter, milk or yoghurt can be made exactly the same using vegan alternatives. Cheese is a bit different because vegan cheese is generally not that good! I quite like the Violife slices, but that’s the only brand that’s anywhere near the right taste. I usually avoid very cheesy recipes, and…
  • Hello and welcome 😊 To add friends on the app, tap on the menu at the bottom right of your screen. From there, tap on friends, then requests, then add friends. Not many of my real life friends use mfp, so I usually use the option to add people using their mfp username.
  • Logically I feel like this should work. Unfortunately I tried it once when I was about 15 and ended up with sores all over my face. 😱 Fairly horrifying for a shy teenager in high school!
  • I get cold sores when I’m run down and not eating well. I haven’t changed my diet specifically to get rid of the cold sores, but I get them less often when I eat plenty of fruit and veg and keep my stress levels as low as possible (not always possible I know!). I’ve never heard the theory that nuts and oats trigger…
  • Just saw that you like big dogs. I have a larger than average border collie. He’s not massive but I think he’s beautiful!
  • It’s 6:20am here and I’m about to get up and start the morning madness with 3 kids, but I thought I’d say hi first 😊 Strength and flexibility are great goals, but I won’t say too much about those. What are you doing right now? What are your plans for tomorrow? What was the last meal you cooked (mine was vegetable stew with…
  • I’m curious about the underwater rugby! Is that exactly what it sounds like? Playing rugby in a pool?
  • Congratulations! It’s such a great feeling to go further than you ever have before!
  • Not far away, in the High Peak (that’s north Derbyshire if you’ve never heard of it!). Have you done any boxing before? I occasionally spar, but I’m not a fan of being hit in the head so I usually stick to padwork, throwing and ground fighting! I would also love to do a pull-up. Always been reasonably strong but fairly…
  • Some good advice above. The one thing you didn’t mention was how often you run. I’m a regular runner and have increased my distance a lot over the last 2 years. I need to run at least 3 times a week to see any improvement. At one point I only had time to run twice a week and I could feel the loss of fitness after a few…
