Interesting that most here advise talking to your doctor. The doctors, nurses, techs, and receptionists at the clinic I go to are all, and I do mean ALL...obese. Morbidly obese.

Knowing nothing of my height, weight, and body type, you cannot possibly tell me that I am seeing a layer of fat. Or do I misunderstand?

I can most certainly tell you that within three weeks of weight lifting I could see a difference in my upper arms, shoulders, and calves. If it is visible it is significant.

Muscle weighs more than fat. When toned you may weigh more but will appear thinner.

Have you considered natural diuretics such as coffee, cucumber, lemon, watermelon and celery? Vitamin B complex is also a diuretic.

TIPS: Save 20%-50% of your income. Live below your means. Buy nothing you cannot pay for. Have only one credit card and pay off your balance every month. Don't eat out.

Good luck! No matter the concern...drinking, drugs, smoking, staying in an abusive relationship, gambling, out of control spending, unhealthy weight ( be it obesity or anorexia)... No one can motivate someone else to change. Any approach will be viewed as criticism. Save your breath.

Everyone's system is different. More than 15 grams of fiber daily and I am in agony. I never knew why until I read THE FIBER MENACE.

My biggest surprise was my abdomen swelling up for several days. Please come back and tell us if the procedure and recovery are as minor as your doc predicts.

Everyone's system is different. For me, GERD and all it's symptoms were due to not enough gastric juices rather than too much. One multi enzyme digestive aid (Betaine as key ingredient) with each meal and GERD disappeared. I have also found it helpful to drink no liquids at mealtime. Liquids dilute stomach acids.
