Taylor Swift is overrated.

Disagree. It’s a well-meaning idea, but there are too many factors to consider when calculating calories burned, even whe accounting for “standard diet/activity”. Ultimately it would have the same impact as diet soda: uninformed consumers taking the labeling at face value and perpetuating poor dietary and activity habits…

My workout was...work. Lol :) Lifting 75lbs steel chassis for two hours. Discovered my strength has improved the last few weeks as I no longer need to shoulder the weight :)

Unless of course you're an epileptic, for whom the diet was designed and intended for. Many people on MFP have had great success with keto, both long- and short-term. Personally I enjoy carbs and am responding well to a higher protein intake, so I will continue with somewhat balanced macro ratios, but if my neuro…

I’ve been doing progress photos in the same outfit (jeans & my favourite cami). The attached progress photo is from a few weeks ago. Aside from more wrinkling of cami due to looser fit, my upper and lower tummy don’t stick out/hang as far, my boobs are a little droopier because they no longer fill out my bra, my wrist is a…

Oh, geez, excuse me and my absentmindedness! You’re absolutely right! My brain was hopping around so much that I must have completely blanked on the timeframe during that paragraph. Thank you for pointing out that error Ann!

Reading through, I have a couple thoughts. 1) Water retention is definitely at play. If you feel uncomfortable from the amount you’re drinking, pull back a little & do some trial-and-error until you find a comfortable intake. 2) 6lbs, especially in a short amount of time, can be a sign of food still digesting or…

Maintain the daily habits that have been working, and keep in mind festive eats later in the day when you're meal planning for the day. Most importantly, don’t worry or obsess! Getting yourself worked up will make it difficult to enjoy the seasonal treats, and for stress eaters that can turn into giving up! Personally, I…

To follow up on a particular comment by @mmapags , currently the cause is unknown, but after digging into family history I appear to be genetically predisposed. Thank you everyone for the insight, suggestions, and a couple giggles! :) Oddly enough I ordered a keto book on a whim two weeks ago, so the universe seems bent on…

Your own article states exactly why the other posters are correct to say that gender is irrelevant. 🙄 Muscle mass isn’t some magical property that only men have. A man and woman of the same stats burn calories at the same rate. As for MFP, it is to weight loss what pharmacy BP checkers are the heart health: A static…

Accept that even in maintenance it’s okay and even a bit healthy to indulge now and then. :) Start anew tomorrow and enjoy life!

I don’t know about ninjas, but Kevin McKidd starred in a movie called Dog Soldiers. British soldiers vs werewolves in the Scottish Highlands. All kinds of bad and guilty pleasure! 😆

As far as calories go, MFP is an addition/subtraction calculator. What you’re complaining about is a problem with the food company’s calculations or your failure to log accurately.

Is there a reason other than “Mum & Dad said...” that you stand by this idea?

If it’s a texture issue, you can try throwing the cooked meat in a mini chopper with some hot water or broth and blend it to more of a ground meat texture. I had to do this last year when I was recovering from surgery and it made meats a lot more tender and helped bring out the flavour (I was addicted to ginger beef this…

You won’t maintain if you consume less than your body needs at a given weight/comp, and “normal” doesn’t necessarily mean healthy. (Ex: A “normal” weight range for me would be between 130 & 150, but between frame and my activity & work demands my healthy range is 150-170 when accounting for muscle mass). As for nutrition,…

Chicken and veggies with holiday-style seasoning (rosemary, savoury, etc) and turkey gravy modified to a stew consistency. Can’t wait for dinner! 😁

If you’re active & tracking that activity, then it would be best to use calorie adjustment. There is of course the risk of eating back more than you burned, but it’s safer (and easier to adjust for) than running too large a deficit, especially long-term.

To the folks who cry “Unpronounceable words!!” take the time to try and pronounce some of the naturally-occuring nutrients in organic produce, then come up with a more informed argument. To the OP, studies and articles that demonize artificial sweeteners only demonstrate correlation and flat out ignore their own findings…

If you’re using the app, go to the Goals tab and tap on your current weight. This will bring up a dial. Make sure the dial is reflecting your current weight accurately then tap on the ✔️. If I’m not mistaken, that *should* adjust your calorie goal.

With orange juice (extra 120 cals). 🤤 Can’t wait to have it again tomorrow!

I’ll tell you what I told someone else not too long ago: If you’re within your calorie allotment, the ONLY impact eating late has on the scale is adding undigested food to your reading. FWIW, I tracked my pre- and post-sleep weights for a while. With a bedtime snack my weight drops about 1.5lbs while sleeping. Without a…

I made a post a week ago saying pretty well the same! My weight has been up about 3lbs this week, and although it is a bit annoying I haven’t been stressed about it because daily tracking helped me determine when in my cycle I’ll start retaining water.

Really surprised at the cut. After my seizure in August the first thing my doctor asked if I was getting enough sodium with the dietary changes and she seemed iffy about me reducing to 2,300. Thank you for sharing this! I will have to look further into it.

Small 1 splenda/2 cream, or medium 2 splenda/2 cream. Flavoured lattes are almost always good as well, but I avoid them except on special occassions because of the calories.

Severe anxiety and some depression here. The anxiety tends to make me unable to sit still, so I’ve been slowly building up my jogging intervals, started swimming again, and am looking into boxing classes. It’s also been helpful at work in that I am constantly grabbing the heavy lifting jobs in my department when I can and…

Eat it like a normal cookie, except making sure not to bite through the m&m (it’s a texture thing).
