  • In 2018 I went a week without solids due to a medical event. I was hungry all the time and bowel movements turned to watered-down bile. When I was finally able to eat again even just mashed potatoes and bananas caused gastric pain for the next three days while my system got used to solids again. Liquid diets are the worst.
  • Well the point is for those trying to eliminate stimulants but want the flavour. :) I have a 500mL thermos that I refill 5 times over a ten hour period and it works great.
  • No joke. Drop it in and let it set for 5 minutes and you’ve got flavour. So far it’s worked with medium roast and flavoured. :)
  • The same people who have assaulted me refuse to use sanitizer and broke distancing and even torn off their own mask to spit on me. Even gone out of their way (20+ feet down an aisle) to do so. Last time I was given a concussion and suffered a grand mal later that day as a result.
  • Only wear one b/c I’ve been assaulted multiple times by other customers when trying to pick up my seizure meds and groceries. Was specifically told by my neuro NOT to wear them (even carry a medical note with me) b/c they cause me to overheat & seize, & pose a suffocation risk if i have a grand mal. Apparently covid looks…
  • Sounds like you need a new scale. DH & I weigh daily, and we JUST replaced the battery (one of those inch-wide coin batteries) after a little over 11 months.
  • Working for me right now as solo exercise. I have two parks close by and one has a lot of steep hills that I walk up to add intensity; finding it much more effective improving muscles and balance. My main focus atm when I’m not on the hills is keeping myself from slouching while walking briskly. That said, I also do a lot…

  • 🤦🏻‍♀️ Absolutely not. It’s a medical diet hijacked by commercial diet industry.
  • Keto is a medical diet intended to treat epilepsy, but has also shown to help manage diabetes. The short version, consume high fat, medium protein, low carb, to trigger ketosis (metabolization of fat stores for energy instead of glucose reliance from food).
  • I ate about 3,000 cals yesterday at family bbq. Scale was up a lb this morning. Exercise last night, and bm & good dietary choices today put me exactly where I would expect to be on a typical day. An extra 500 will only slow things down if it’s happening frequently.
  • Water weight, and, if you haven’t had a bowel movement, waste. You don’t gain a kilo of fat in one day if you’re exercising and in a caloric deficit.
  • There are a number of factors that contribute to fluctuations, especially while in a deficit. 1) Make sure you’re weighing foods. If it only provides millilitres (such as salsa) make a note of the grams you take so you can convert it later. Straight liquids are fine. Basically avoid less specific US measurements (lbs, oz,…
  • Mashed avocado on toasted pumpernickle. Sooooo freakingn good. 🤤
  • Muffins, bagels, and most pork products. Chips are worth the calories, but I have discipline issues with them so we generally don’t buy them.
  • Every 10lbs or so I update my “start” weight in my goals settings to adjust daily intake. Usually it reduces my daily limit by about 20 calories and (when I’m consistently logging) I find rate of loss is more consistent. In my diary however I keep my daily weigh ins from the start so I can see how far I’ve come and monitor…
  • Can't agree more with this! The first thing I was asked by my doctor and neurologist when I began screening and treatment for epilepsy was if I consume enough sodium, as it can contribute to non-epileptic seizures, which in turn can contribute to long-term neurological harm. Coupled with an excessive calorie deficit &…
  • If you’re logging cardio it will automatically calculate an estimate based on your stats, and the type/length of activity. With that said, assume you burned half the calories MFP suggests as it is notorious for overestimating calories burned. Strength exercise is subjected to substantially more variables, so even the most…
  • Diary is set to private so can’t comment on that specifically. If you’re maintaining a calorie deficit, it’s likely water weight. Since the heat finally hit where I am, I’ve swelled up like Violet Beauregard and it’s showing on the scale. Sodium levels will also contribute, particularly if you aren’t drinking enough water.
  • Agreed with all the recommendations for Joy of Cooking. It’s dry, but it’s a good foundation-builder. Hubby & I have also really been enjoying the Oh She Glows Cookbook. True, you can find most of the recipes online, but if you prefer a physical book we’ve found it was worth the investment.
  • First attempt at scones (blueberry-rosemary) for dessert tonight. They’re not as pretty as a bakery’s, but they're sweet calorie bombs of carby goodness. 🤤
  • I laugh when people try to tell me carbs are bad. Cucumbers are 80% carb. Congrats on finding what works for you and the great success!
  • Please fact-check before sharing this kind of “information”. It causes unfounded fear and paranoia, and in some cases can lead folks to making uninformed/harmful decisions in their health care.
  • Searching abandoned parks for crunchy ice to self-soothe. ❤️
  • Watching natural selection a la YT videos of people licking batteries.
  • Personal record is a little over 28k steps in about four hours. Went through about two litres of water during, and another four throughout the rest of the day, and pretty sure I had a focal seizure during the last half hour. Surprisingly the only pain was the usual muscle exhaustion I get at work. Want to hit 50k this…

  • This. I lost from my (almost non-existent) butt, thighs, and back first. Add to it myscle development between work and walking and yeah, it took a while to start seeing the changes. Find a photo of yourself pre-loss and tape it to the mirror. Guaranteed you’ll see the change! 🙂
  • Someone threatened to kill me because I walked by a shelf of broth this morning (wasn’t even there to shop; just needed to use the bathroom). Bruises between my hips and ankles from being rammed by psychopath shoppers. Then there’s fear for loved ones. Trucker BiL, sister at higher risk due to medical factors, mother with…
  • For the first time in thirteen years I can fit into a size 18 top. 😊 It’s even a little too loose in some spots!
