@GreenValli Lovely that that way works for you -- we are all individuals and it makes sense that we should have a variety of ways that "fit" -- and that finding the best fit for you is really helpful. For me, while not sweets, something both savory that is both high in fat and carbs is not something I can have 1/3 of a cup…

It wasn't the leggings, don't worry about that. You're right - probably pre-period bloat. Being a woman can be rough.

This is incredible! Look at these photos, wow! You met 9! And Donna! My favorite companion. Not to mention your inspiring story. You, madam, kick butt. :)

@Shortgirlrunning Is the Garmin a clip-on or a wrist thing?

Yuck. Hummus with pita triangles

It doesn't make me feel bad, per se, but I buy the slimmer clothes as a reward rather than a motivation. Feels good to celebrate a goal that way than the old way, i.e. nachos, enchiladas, and bottomless margaritas at our favorite Mexican joint.

I'm really glad to read this response, @lindsey8300 -- 1500 is much, much more sustainable, and easy to make work than 1200 (and this is from a 5'3" woman, so short!) -- really low calorie restricted diets are perhaps fine for short term but they don't help with long term "lifestyle changes." I think even half a pound a…

You last weighed yourself two weeks ago; what have you been doing in the interim? Have you been getting a little more exercise? Eating a bit more healthily? Drinking more water than in the past? OR: have you been off the wagon and not logging anything either? Or, perhaps, something in between, like most of us?

I pretty much only exercise to give myself larger meals.

If you really want ready-made single size packaged hummus, and don't mind the added expense over tupperwaring them at home, then Sabra makes these cute little snack hummus-and-flat-pretzel deals I've seen at the supermarket. I like Sabra brand hummus, but haven't bought any of this particular variety so can't 100% vouch…

Oh hello there, are you me? I'm a lifelong yo-yo dieter and joined MFP pretty recently, when I was almost at maintenance already, simply because THIS, RIGHT NOW, is when I get complacent and up, up, up goes the scale and the sizes of my clothing. If you want, we can support each other here. This site is literally the only…

I am 5'3" too!! I decided I'm in maintenance recently, even though technically I'm around 4 pounds over my "goal weight" which was what I weighed/what I looked like when I got married. I got married in my 20s though and that was two now teenager-kids ago -- my body just isn't gonna do that without a lack of any enjoyment.…

I would not consider your job as anything but active, I've seen how nurses work. In terms of fitness it's a lot of calories a day! "Lightly active" mean (I believe) a desk job, but workouts at the gym 4 times a week before/after work. I mean that's me, and what I put, so...

Oh yeah @lynn_glenmont , you’re right! My reading comprehension drops to pre-k levels after a long weekend, I guess. 😳🙄🙄

It's not a really active forum, just a few comments total every day. So, don't take it personally, the moderator probably just isn't on MFP today.

I reached Crickhollow a couple of days ago, and now I'm Merrily (and Pippinly) on my way to Old Man Willow.

Sheeeeeeesh. I was toying with the idea of starting up with a Fitbit since I can't fit my phone (with its step counter) in my leggings when I'm on the treadmill, and I'd like to have those steps "count" towards my digital health profile. Forget it, not going to happen. I trust Google (and Facebook) with my data as much as…

I eat a banana with breakfast on days I'm going to exercise and haven't gotten a "charlie horse" since starting this. Strongly recommend!
-
This sounds crazy, but I love mushrooms (Portabello, shitake are my favorites) so much that I literally just assumed they were unhealthy for the longest time, since everything else I like to eat tends to be more in the "double stuffed, extra cheese, meat lover's pizza" type of category. I remember when I was in my young…

Can your partner just possibly eat much more of whatever you prepare than you do?

If you want to see a fall from grace, @fitnessforjudy , then look at my diary for yesterday (Friday the 15th). WHOOPS! But I'm okay, and you're okay, and everything is going to be okay. Carbs are my weakness too -- not so much sweets as flour type stuff -- however we can still be in this battle together. Have you thought…

Doesn't matter, unless if you "blow off" morning exercise and tell yourself you'll do it after work, and then after work you're too tired and say "eh, forget it." In which case, morning exercise is better. ;)
-
I weigh myself every Monday morning, but sometimes I forget and so it's Tuesday or Wednesday or the next Monday. We keep our scale in an under-the-sink cabinet so it's not always sitting there, staring at me, lol. But yes, mornings when I do remember.

I remember that the "artificial sweeteners are terrible for you" so-called studies have been debunked. The amount of Splenda or whatever needed for a rat to eat for a negative effect was thousands more times than any human would expect to eat daily. Diabetics need to watch out because it *can* impact insulin levels,…

I'm short -- 5'3" -- and I'm pretty sure the only reason I exercise at ALL is to "earn" more calories, lol. Heart health? Meh. Muscles, longevity? Meh and meh. Gimme that extra 100 calories for a hummus and pretzel stick snack.
-
That is a great reminder, you are kind to spread it around.

I have a thing after work at the local library so instead of cooking, I'm going to buy one of those already-made roasters at the supermarket, with a few sides from the deli counter there. Not sure how to "count" it here, but I don't weigh on a food scale so things are a close approximation anyway.

I am SO not a fan, either, @tcunbeliever -- what a betrayal! What happened to my waistline for crying out loud. This reallocation of funds is met with voter disapproval. :D

I thinnkkk I'm post menopausal now? I still get the occasional hot flash but no other symptoms. I've been up and down the scale the same 20-23 pounds ever since I was in high school in the 1980s! So for me, I get and stay motivated while losing weight, but staying there is the problem. I joined MFP relatively recently,…
