  • Yep, diary is public and I took a peek. I have several servings each of HWC, butter and then cheese every day (so more than your intake), and the only time I really had acne was in my teens, many years ago. Dairy doesn't have a negative impact on my digestion either.
  • This is literally the opposite of my family's experience :) I eat several servings of dairy every day and don't deal with acne. My daughter who's completely dairy free has really bad acne. I think age/hormones and genetics are the big factors for if you'll have acne or not.
  • Coffee with less and less additions. Started with lots of flavored creamers, on top of flavored beans, and then splenda on top of that. Now I'm making my cups with HWC, half the splenda I used to add and then I'm currently alternating flavored beans with unflavored beans. My goal is to eventually do away with the flavored…

  • The youtube channel Keto Connect has some good recipes (they have a website and a cookbook too).
  • Welcome! I follow a relaxed carnivore way of eating, which is a sub-set of keto :)
  • I don't follow blogs but I do have 3 youtubers that I subscribe to and really enjoy their videos. They're all carnivore leaning though, so probably not what you had in mind? Dr. Shawn Baker https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5apkKkeZQXRSDbqSalG8CQ/videos Dr. Ken Berry https://www.youtube.com/user/KenDBerry/videos Grandma DC…
  • I also used to have pronounced bloating at night and many times it would carry over into the morning. It went completely away after I transitioned to a low carb way of eating, along with the loud stomach noises I frequently had.
  • When I still used a food scale I weighed everything, including meat, before cooking, (but thawed if it was something I was defrosting). Same with grains-did dry weight before cooking them.
  • When I first started lower carb this was my experience as well. At the time I was still loosely tracking my calorie intake and I had a few days under 1,000 calories, just because I wasn't hungry. I intentionally upped my fat intake and added snacks throughout the day (string cheese, beef jerky, tuna packets with mayo etc),…
  • Thanks everyone for the responses so far, love hearing of everyone's experiences! Makes me feel not so 'alone,' as I'm still fairly new to the lower carb way of eating.
  • Of all the things I've cut out the thing I miss the most is white rice, so weird!
  • When I started it was going to be a one month, general low carb experiment-my initial goal was 100g of net carbs a day. Things have naturally progressed from there, I definitely didn't plan on ending up almost no carb, that's just craziness! And yet, here I am, lol :) Taking things one day at a time right now and really…
  • Yes, a relaxed version, (I still drink coffee, uses spices etc). For me personally, it's worth the trade off of not being able to eat certain foods, to be able to finally maintain without struggling, which I did for years before I finally just couldn't do it anymore. There were a lot of issues going on way beyond the…
  • OP- for me personally, I used to walk around with a regular feeling of hunger. It started when I began my weight loss phase and it followed me into maintenance, even after I had adjusted my calorie intake up. I'd wake up hungry, think about my next meal as I was eating, go to bed hungry etc. The nagging hunger was my…
  • MFP has default macros that it uses, if you want to adjust them based on your eating preferences you can manually change them and then your adjusted macros goals will be reflected in your food diary area.
  • Back when I tracked calories I did weigh out, count and track vegetables and fruit. If your plan is calorie tracking based then you should be including everything you eat/drink. WW does factor them in, they just do the numbers differently.
  • Thanks for sharing, I haven't read Dr. Bernstein's book yet, will add it to my list :) I think the ADA's new, updated recommendations actually include an option for a lower carb way of eating, I'll see if I can find the info :) eta: here's an overview of their update…
  • I don't really make recipes and keep things pretty low key. Meat, eggs and then some dairy, and then before I went almost zero carb I also included a few servings of low carb vegetables and fruit with my meals (steamed broccoli with butter, cauliflower rice, a handful of berries etc). You can make keto/low carb as simple…
  • -What lower carb plan do you follow? Relaxed Carnivore/almost zero carb -How long have you followed a lower carb way of eating? Around 6 months so far -Do you plan on continuing with lower carb after your weight loss phase is complete and you transition into maintenance? Or, if you're already in maintenance do you think a…
  • I follow a very specific way of eating and supplement specifically for that. So for me I supplement with pink salt daily and magnesium 3-4 times a week. I don't take a multivitamin as it wouldn't benefit me.
  • Yep, was going to recommend Lauren's books, good stuff in an easy to understand format.
  • I'm relaxed carnivore, which is a sub-set of keto, feel free to add me :)
  • My morning weigh-in this morning put me at 120.2lbs, it's all good over here :) I'm not doing the carnivore diet for weight loss, was already in maintenance when I transitioned to this way of eating.
  • Last snack I had was Braunschweiger sausage, yesterday afternoon. Wasn't really hungry but I'm working on incorporating organ meats to my carnivore diet right now and this is an easy way to get them in. And yes I'd share :)
  • When I switched to lower carb/higher fat my digestion issues cleared up, including the pronounced bloating I always had :) I had gone into low carb as a month long experiment and haven't looked back since, it's been a great fit for me!
  • You can track net carbs on both Cronometer and Carb Manager.
  • We have a long term pantry and it has things like jars of pb, pancake mixes, lots of canned goods, rice and oats etc. We also have several cooking options that don't rely on electricity and if we lose power for a while we'd just start dipping into the deep freezer and do a lot of grilling :) Ideally we'd lose power in the…
  • I'm around 7 years into this process now and one of the things I've learned along the way is that food is food. It is not a religion, it is not the key to my happiness, it is not my shame. It's just food :) I've removed all emotional attachment to it and I eat to fuel my body and then I move on with my day. It's a learning…
