I just went to the nutritionist and she told me to switch from refrigerated coconut milk to cow's milk because I'm not getting enough protein. No one can say what any person should do for themselves because everyone has their own needs, but that's where I am.

Congratulations on your progress! I'm especially excited to hear about your blood pressure and blood sugar going down! That's so wonderful. It's great to see payoff!

My advice for going vegetarian is to check everything to see what it has in it, and I mean everything. I had an oopsy the other day when the pancake mix I bought for a staff function turned out to have lard in it. I did not know that pancake mix could have lard in it. Apparently it can (not always). Yogurt can have gelatin…

I got a pretty cheap Fitbit (the Fitbit HR Inspire, I think) because I was terrified it wouldn't get used. So far I'm liking, but I just started using it, so who knows. It was really important to me to be able to monitor my heart rate during exercise and I think I'm finally getting it to do that (for a while, if I sweated,…

I'm going to try to bring myself to try savory oatmeal even though it goes against everything my brain says oatmeal should be. I'm trying to eat more vegetables and this would be a good way to do it if I liked it.

I ended up taking a wild, flailing guess and it's probably not right at all. :o

I work with young kids and have for years. Not with one child, many. At no point have I ever encountered a child who will simply decide to skip a meal out of a desired to not eat. I have encountered children who will, out of anger or upset or other strong emotions, refuse to lunch at the appointed time (say, if lunch is at…

If intermittent fasting is something you find useful, fine. This is not even marginally the same as what you were advocating before. If you think my body tells me to stop eating for a day, you are beyond wrong. Also, not only did your 5-year old granddaughter not advocate for intermittent fasting (I've never seen a 5-year…

I don't know what this has to do with literally anything. I, for example, do not have a 120 lbs goal, nor do I see it indicated in the OP.

The first year I worked in an elementary student, I spent basically the entire year sick. It was awful. The second-year was better, even though I caught the flu (for what was probably the first time in a decade or maybe more) and thought I was dying (yes, I got the flu shot, it doesn't always work). Working with little…

If you've found something that works for you, great. I'm happy for you. However, my body quite obviously will not always be in balance with myself and my food caloric load or I would not be obese and I would not have been overweight for my entire adult life. If my body knew exactly how to regulate its own nourishment, I…

I'm going to tell you a story. *I go to the doctor* *the nurse looks at my chart* Nurse, her voice rising: "Oh no, you haven't had your period in seven months?!" Me: "...no, I haven't been to the doctor in seven months, so you haven't recorded my period in seven months. I had my period a few weeks ago." Nurse, her voice…

It gives me hope that you've been able to get to the point that you can moderate some foods that previously you couldn't. I'm hoping that this will eventually happen with me, that eventually, I'll be able to say, "Sure, I'll have a small slice of pie." Because right now I'm seeing articles that are all, "How to have a…

As someone with bad knees, I adore the recumbent bike (indoors, perhaps obviously). I also went to a physical therapist and am doing exercises to try to improve my knees.

I'm there! ✋

I think that FitBit profoundly overestimates the number of calories burned during exercise. I still log that I did exercise (using the wristband thing) because I want to keep track of the exercise that I did, but I don't calculate calories burned into what I should eat. I'm thinking about entering exercise into…

Honestly, I'd encourage you to find a tea that you like and drink that. If you want to try to get used to drinking Matcha (especially if you already bought some), that's fine (I tried to get used to drinking green tea, I never did; I don't like it). Finding a beverage that one likes and isn't full of sugar and calories…

I'm finding tracking a lot less irritating than I thought it would be, but so far I'm eating at home and cooking myself. I expect that things will get rougher when I'm in situations when I'm not making my own food and we'll see what happens then.

For myself personally regarding abstinence, I would say that if something is "food," it isn't inherently unhealthy and that's not the reason that I would choose to abstain from it. For example, I'm considering abstaining from certain foods, but not because I consider them to be inherently unhealthy. Rather, these are foods…

I'm trying to decide what to do about me and desserts. I struggle with binge eating in general, but it's especially difficult with desserts. I've always said, "I'll bake cookies/cake/whatever and only have a little bit," but that never works. I devour a massive amount. I'm not sure it's possible for me to do moderation…

I understand that you feel passionate about this and I'm glad that this had worked for you. However, this isn't something that works for everyone and it hasn't worked for me. My family has a history of extreme dysfunction around food and I don't have a good sense of "intuition" for what is good for me to eat and when. Are…

I want to go eat at the all you can eat sushi place or the Indian buffet. Yuuum.

I really love the Instant Pot. I use it both to cook general recipes but also to pressure cook beans for other recipes. I also like the Ninja for cutting up/food processing stuff.

Indian Spiced Oats w/ Coconut Milk. Nom nom. I also had breakfast food for lunch: Creamy Spinach Breakfast Pita Pizza.

I don't know if this would work with broccoli, but with things that I don't like (like peppers), I chop them up incredibly finely (sometimes with a food processor) when they're in a recipe (like a soup). I find that this makes them less objectionable to me.

Birds Eye Steamfresh Frozen Chef's Favorites Lightly Sauced Couscous Pasta & Spinach God, I loved those things.

I think you and I have just started logging our foods at about the same time (high five, my friend!) and with *my* goal of 1630, I don't think I could tolerate 1460. I overshot my goal of 1630 by about 100 calories yesterday, so I would be so hungry at 1460! Oof! I'm still poking at my goal of 1630 to see which recipes I…

I've only recently started tracking and I'm really curious about how people handle this (and eating over at other people's houses / eating out) where they don't cook the food. My sister's birthday is coming up in addition to the topical Thanksgiving and I admit to being somewhat concerned about how I'm going to log them…

Yeah, it's important to look at the recipes and the ingredients in the recipes and either A) confirm with the ingredients that you use OR B ) At least ask "Does this make sense?" The other day I made a recipe with something that has 1/4 cup feta cheese and the database entry had the calories for the feta cheese as zero…
