Look at you! I'm impressed with your movement through the pounds. I recommend *not* going overboard, especially in the Charles and choose 1 amazing candy to thoroughly enjoy. Personally, that'd be the best part for me since I don't drink - it'd make me feel better about that choice having *something* sugary and fun. It'll…

@jugar CW 179 OK! It’s below the dreaded 180. I know…it’s likely water weight and also having my sling off. It’s possible I’ve broken through the plateau. That’s what I’ll choose to believe today. I had my first Physio (PT) appointment this morning. It was good to get clarity about which movements are good and which to…

Thanks for the good wishes re: flat tire. The man who came to tow the car had a running commentary about tire wear, masks, Covid restrictions, Leaf Peepers, and the not-so-common cold (which he hopes to give to said L.P.s). I spent 4 hours in the sling sans-pillow and I can’t believe how tired my arm and shoulder got just…

@jugar CW: 181 I’m sitting in the car waiting for AAA to tow it to the dealership for the flat tire. This was to be my first behind-the-wheel-since-surgery drive, taking recycling and trash to the location 5-miles away. Fortunately, Monica was with me and she insisted we pull over and look at the tires to make sure the…

I enjoy steel cut and non-quick varieties of oats and find it helpful to always have protein with them to keep the sugar spike from happening. Let us know what you learn from your experiment! Well, it's the last day of September already and I'm ready to make a plan for October so I can get below 180 again. My food choices…

@jugar CW 180.8 That was from the other day - better on the day of than too late to count. I’ve had a couple of very slow days but hope to turn it around in Montpelier tomorrow. I’ll be accompanying a friend (she’s driving, not me, yet) to her MD appointment. It beats staying home while the water is due to be off…

[quote="conleywoods; @EvMakesChanges Hang in there with that shoulder! Remember, you just had surgery on probably the most complex and dynamic joint in the human body. Rotator cuff muscles are small and do big jobs. Keep resting and heal it totally. No reinjury allowed! Rotator cuffs don't generally like 2nd surgeries.…

Happy Saturday everybody! I woke up early today and decided it was a good time to figure out my Apple Watch programs. My daughters and son-in-law bought me an Apple Watch in the late spring and I finally signed up for the three month free exercise component. I did the “aging/beginners” lower body and core sections and feel…

@jugar CW 180.6 It’s been a while checking in and I’ve missed you! When I use my phone to check in, I have to be in a good position for my healing arm to help hold it with the right hand. I’m more comfortable typing that way but prefer having no glasses on but then end up having to hold it with just the right hand (to get…

@jugar and all: thank you for the birthday wishes! I’ve had a good day. The warm breezes were pleasant and even though many of my morning plans changed at the last minute, I had a nice dinner out at a local restaurant…first time in ages! I ate well above my normal daily quota and had chocolate cake for dessert. I’m sure…

Happy September everybody! My name is Evelyn and I live in Windsor, Vermont. I’ve been on the team since November 2019. There are times I write a lot and others when I don’t, but I enjoy reading all of the entries. The past few weeks have sidetracked me. I had rotator cuff surgery a week ago Monday. Besides not getting…

@jugar CW 180.6 Well, it’s not totally horrible considering the salt laden snacks at Dad & Anne’s! Things will improve when you’re here. I sure hope you have clear sailing across the border, otherwise I’ll need to have my friend Maria on call. Surgery time was confirmed for 8:00 a.m. Monday. fingers crossed that the…

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sartorius.png I like the sartorius muscle. It actually does a great job at hip and knee stability since it goes diagonally across. Seeing a drawing can help identify this long beastie. I can definitely appreciate you not wanting to be friends after they released it! Yowch! I finally got…

@jugar CW: 179.6 I repeat: 179.6. Yay! My weight'll dance across the line again, I suspect, just knowing how liquids fluxuate, etc., but I'm feeling more encouraged by this little drop into the next lower "decade". I've been struggling to get ample exercise during this horrendous humidity blast. It's really awful! I sure…

@jugar CW 180.2 getting closer to the next decade. I'll try not to scare myself back to a higher weight, again! Happy August! It seems like ages since I checked in so, here goes. I live in Windsor, Vermont with my 35-yr-old daughter and 3 cats. I'm married to Sarah James, who is currently a cook at a resort in Wyoming…

@jugar CW: 181.4 I'm experiencing the joys of water weight, I believe! I had some delicious tomato-based supper and voila! The extra salt I put on the "chickpea-pasta" made it taste a little better (but I'll get a different brand from now on), but definitely not enough to make me really enjoy the added numbers on the…

I'm so glad you're able to escape those types of clouds! I must admit, having my OH in Wyoming for the summer has actually helped me stop anticipating egg shells. Learning interesting things about eating and emotional patterns in their absence, some of which are mine to work on and some which aren't. It's a big help!

Happy Monday, everyone. We've had a lot of rain recently so I haven't been swimming very much this summer. I had a plan to today and then we had major warnings because of the smoke from the fires out West clogging up the airwaves. I decided my lungs would do better when not having to deal with particulates. Tomorrow might…

Yowza! It's already Caturday night and I haven't weighed in this week! Please use my last week number, @jugar. Thanks! I'll get on it next Wednesday for sure. I've been distracted about life in general so, there we are. My food choices have been pretty decent for the past couple of weeks. NOOM has been very helpful. Having…

I'm one who reacts immediately to *any* sweeteners. You may well have an intolerance as well to anything synthetic or even some of the "natural" ones like stevia and ethrytol (or however it's spelled). They all do a number on our digestive/gut system. Try replacing your zero fizzies with seltzer for 2 - 3 weeks. Add it…

@jugar CW: 180.6 I was astonished! Here’s to more success in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to get I to the next “decade down”! The weather has been stupidly rainy. I actually like walks in gentle, warm drizzle but we’ve had major deluges of rain at fairly close intervals for most of a week now. I’m happy to get lots of…

Hi everyone! Such a diverse bunch of topics covered in addition to food choices and exercise. Coyote urine, creamees, healthcare, and rants. We can share it all and be better off for it. It’s hard to believe that it’s still Monday. I got up at 4:30 in order to get out of the house by 5:15 for an MRI of my left shoulder at…

@jugar PW 185 CW 184 I'm glad the holiday weekend is done and over. Even though we've never done much for the 4th, there's enough stress in the air to make me feel crabby. It was good to get to the pond to swim, though. I'm seeing improvement in my shoulder strength, minor as it may be. Water movement feels a lot safer…

@jugar CW 185 Happy July 2nd! We're finally seeing some much needed rain and the temps are back to relative normal in the high 60s/low 70s. Ah. Much better! I've got some catching up on posts to do later this afternoon. I look forward to that.

@Terytha we have limited AC in our apartment, too. I keep a fan oscillating near the cat’s bowls and that helps them a lot. Since it’s going to be even hotter, they will all get the “water treatment” - gently rubbing water into their hair to the skin to help with natural air-cooling. It’s lucky that we have a basement…

@jugar CW 186.6 Huzzah! Feeling empowered and relieved that my body is reacting well. I have agreed to three days per week swimming in the pond (30 min) and walking five days per week for the same amount of time – I’m sure I’ll be able to do more, but at the moment that feels right. Good morning! In case you’re interested,…

Happy Tuesday everyone. We finally had some rain last night and today - broke the horrible 92-degree heatwave (which really only lasted 1.5 days) but what a relief it's supposed to get down to 45 tonight. Ah. Tomorrow, sunshine and mid 70s. much better! I started the NOOM program a month ago and am finding it so helpful!…

So jealous about your ability to walk about with my sister! Sometime this summer, I'm sure we'll get a good visit. Monica and Emily look forward to that prospect, too. It's very hot here today and I'll be catching up on some walking inside the house while it's in the low 90s. We're expecting a hellofastorm with big winds…

Sorry to see you go, @lorib642. I’m back in my own digs and hope to catch up with all of the posts tomorrow. Nigh-night!

@jugar CW 188 I hope your trek west was uneventful. Except for the meeting of the friends and ensuing photos! I learned yesterday that my shoulder’s diagnosis is Rotator Cuff calcific tendinitis. My plan and hope to return to massage needs to be changed to something else completely. I’m not sure what, yet, but more shall…
