  • I hear you. I’ve also been up and down- I know I can do it, it’s the maintaining. And my last doc appt and now my scale are my newest wake up call for sure.
  • Try not to stress that won’t help. Also- it’s common to have higher readings once in awhile especially at the docs office. I purchased a bp monitor for this very reason as I had the same issue. Take your bp a few times regularly to get a better idea of what your actual bp is. Then go from there. I’m personally losing…
  • I walked today for 30 mins at a brisk pace- was sweating but not winded or nearly as sore. Went almost the same distance as I did when I was mixing in the running and I kept my heart rate in check and felt overall much better 👍🏽
  • I live in a very cold climate and I would recommend getting some items like a treadmill or elliptical- it’s just practical. Or join a gym? There’s always cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, etc. if you want to try the outdoors. Step aerobics for indoors to a workout on a screen or just plain old jump rope,…
  • Hi! I started C25K 2 weeks ago. I’m by no means a runner- yet. But I hope to be someday. I’m liking the program and I’m actually sticking with it. I’m having a tougher time staying within my calories and tracking though 🙄
  • I am so slow though! I walk at a 3.5 and feel great. But then I run, even at a 4 and feel the burn and winded so easily and early. I know it’s not about speed, but endurance at first and just being able to sustain the run, but damn. I am out of shape. I’m 5’3” 170 so overweight but not morbidly obese and people think I’m…
  • Same here. 7 am start time and the thought of waking any earlier than I need to really sounded terrible. But… I’ve been doing it and I actually like it. I know for me if I put it off for any time later I’ll find a reason not to- busy, kids, tired, etc. I’ve said it all. So early morning is the one time I have that’s just…
  • 41 here Time to lose, and not gain back, 25 lbs. lower my bp. Exercise regularly. I’ve been tracking my food and I was on the elliptical this morning- and waiting for a newly ordered treadmill!
  • Good advice! I’m also considering starting running. Going to get new shoes ASAP as I’m am a overpronator for sure
  • Healthy numbers! My blood pressure and pulse have been reading high at my last couple visits and the scale has crept up accordingly. Time to reset and get everything back into a healthy range 👍🏽
  • SW- 168 UGW- 145 Restarting tracking all food/drink, have been using my elliptical and we treated ourselves to a new treadmill that’s on the way!
  • Following this thread- very interesting. I’ve done Hot Yoga (Bikram style) and heated Hatha now due to Covid off and on for a few months. I’m loving it and it’s gets my heart rate up significantly. I’ve got about 20lbs to lose to get to my healthy BMI. I’ve thought about the yoga sculpt classes as well
  • People like to share what worked for them. When you start a convo about weight you’re going to get their stories and opinions. And when I quit drinking I lost a significant amount of weight while doing nothing else so it happens 👍🏽🤷🏻‍♀️
  • You need a calorie deficit. Walking is nice but doesn’t burn if you’re overeating. Weight loss is mostly diet, then some exercise. Measure and track your food. Stay in your calorie goal. Then add exercise cals.

  • You have to really measure your food and portion until you get the hang of it- then even still maybe. And 1900 cals is A Lot
  • Both. It really depends on your goal. Calorie deficit is key. But I’ve gotten to the size I want by not exercising at all in the past. Just diet This time I don’t just want a number on the scale or size of clothes- I want fitness and strength
  • I like to log early as well. I like a plan and it takes the guesswork out of what I’m eating later. I tend to stay in my calories better this way as well
  • The high fiber/protein instant oatmeal- I’m not a breakfast person but I can manage this and it lasts Healthy choice general tso’s bowl- great for at work Oikos triple zero vanilla yogurt with added berries/walnuts- healthy variety and satisfies my sweet craving
  • I have a bad knee. I love my elliptical. Biking is also good. Strength training too 👍🏽
  • Once a week. I also took pictures and measurements and will be measuring once a week as well 👍🏽
  • I thought I had hit a plateau a week or two ago. I changed up from basically just doing cardio and yoga to incorporating some strength training. I wrote down what I did for exercise each day. I stay within my calories and eat my exercise cals. I’m now down 3 more lbs 👍🏽 Hopefully this keeps going 🤗
  • Calories are essential. Count them, weigh food, measure portions, etc. then track everything. Add in a lot of water. I’m guessing you will see a change in the scale and see where you have been taking in too many calories.
  • You need to start with health in mind. It requires patience. Lunges and squats don’t work for me as I have a bad knee- so I get that. Find what you can do and focus on that, progressing but not overdoing. That just burns you out and you won’t stick with it. I’ve started with calorie intake and tracking then adding in…
  • I feel similarly. I did my BMI and I’m now technically obese. I’m not really an exercise person but I get steps in at work. I actually just went on a walk for the first time in awhile and it feels good! I just started MyFitnessPal last week and have been tracking and calorie counting and have lost 6 lbs which is great…
  • Drink a lot of water. Take a vitamin early/kid day. There’s nothing you can’t eat- just watch your portions, and plan ahead- really helping me.
  • I save 100-200 for evening just in case. I also pretrack so I have my plan in place. I love sparkling water and only drink in the evening as a treat to myself. It’s tough though sometimes for sure.
  • I have combined a few factors. The BMI chart, what weight I’ve felt most comfortable at I. The past, what size I enjoy being and has been maintainable, etc.
  • 5’3” here, I want to be a size 8 which is most comfortable and maintainable to me. Thaa as us around 145. I’ve done it before and stayed there for years, after 3 kids even. Hoping to get and stay there again 😊
  • Thanks for the responses!
  • I am female, short, petite framed, not elderly (but at 39 I feel like it sometimes, lol) and fairly sedentary. I am not obese but do need to lose 25lbs to get in my BMI range and feel comfortable- where is was 6 months ago. I did set my goal at 2lbs/week so maybe that’s too much. I truly don’t feel very hungry so it’s…
