What? That doesn’t work with diabetes, you need to do specific things to lower blood sugar, not just “believe” or any other touchy feely thing. This is terrible advice!

I think the gradual changes you are making are great! My fist cughestion is to be careful drinking fruit juices, they can contain a lot of calories per serving with little/no nutritional value. I personally try not to drink my calories, I would rather chew them, but not everyone is like that. You can try switching to diet…

As a diabetic you need to limit (not not eliminate) your carbs, and not just sugar. You also need to pair your carbs with protein and fat to help your body process the carbs better. You absolutely need to be working with your doctor(s) to find the right diabetic meal plan for you to get your blood glucose/sugar levels in…

Having ice cream is not a “cheat day” if it fits in your calories. I eat treats more days than not because I refuse to give up things I like. What works for me is I skip breakfast, eat a light lunch (300-400 calories usually) and then my balance of calories are available for dinner and snack/dessert. Now, that being said I…

I’ve always been an evening snack person so I do skip breakfast, do a light lunch and then try to have 1,000ish calories for dinner and a snack/treat around 8:00. It doesn’t work for everyone. It it works for me most of the time!

I weigh in daily because I’m more motivated by small losses than I am by small gains. Weight fluctuates, even for men, so seeing the scale go up can be frustrating but not devastating for me. If I were to weigh once a week and it happened to be on an “up” day that would be more disappointing for me since I wouldn’t know…

That sounds like a lot of hassle and work. Can you eat off the menu at work? Or pack something that doesn’t require being reheated? A “lunchable” style meal of crackers, meat, cheese, raw veggies and nuts (or whatever floats your boat) can be way easier and very filling.

1) my young kids deserve a Mom who isn’t too tired and fat to do things with them 2) I deserve to feel better (physically and mentally) and be more comfortable in my skin 3) I want to feel attractive to my husband (he never says a word about my weight, but my weight affects my self esteem which puts a damper on our sex…

I walk for exercise and wear Capri pants or bike shorts to avoid the shorts riding up. My chub rub won’t allow me to wear “normal” cotton shorts for an exercise speed walk or everything rides up and I stop to pull them out every 3.73648 steps.

Just because you are counting calories does NOT mean you only eat low calorie foods. You need to eat more, a minimum of 1200 calories a day. Yogurt, nuts, meat, cheese, peanut butter, other nut butters, fruit, veggies, and (gasp) even some pizza or cookies are all okay (in moderation). Most of us allow calories for our…

As long as you are weighing and measuring everything properly the weight will come off. Unfortunately it isn’t an exact science, sometimes you will go a week or two with little/no loss and then you have a “woosh” and lose several pounds on the scale in just a few days. And if you are a female with a menstrual cycle your…

What did you do? You enjoyed life, you enjoyed your family and you enjoyed food and beverages because you (like the rest of us) are human and are not machines. As others have said, this is almost all (possibly entirely) water retention and not actual fat. Pick yourself up and get back to your normal routine and you should…

I’m so sorry you are struggling right now. My weight has been up and down (mostly up) my whole adult life. I lose weight, get comfortable and slowly gain it back, I lose weight, got married, had kids and weight went up again. This spring I was furloughed, I was close to my highest weight, not happy with my appearance and I…

Depending on how you are defining “fail” and any underlying medical issues that mean “failing” is more dangerous than for most people, I think you need to take a look into ways you can incorporate more of the things you like so you don’t feel deprive. Did you eat too much pizza/ice cream/insert food of choice here because…

I hear you! Summer is easy because we can grill meat and it is delicious.... When it gets cold I want heavier meals. I’m currently walking outside for exercise. We have a cheap treadmill in the basement, but I’m so used to walking outside I really don’t like to use it. I’m considering joining a gym this winter to get some…

That’s awesome!

If you are happy without a specific weight number goal then you are doing it right for you. I like to have a goal weight to work for, it helps me stay focused.

I’ve not checked my labels, but have you tried Propel? Flavored water with no calories but not marked as sugar free so so I don’t think it has aspartame or anything. Crystal Light (and other brands) have packets you can add to water for more flavor if that is helpful.

The “keto flu” would apply if you greatly reduce your carb intake, you don’t have to go full keto. Not everyone experiences this and it can happen at various levels, so if you cut carbs by a decent amount that could be the problem (or a contributing factor).

Losing weight is a long term process, if you cut out all of your favorites and are miserable it will be very difficult for you to stick with it. For many people, myself included, completely eliminating certain foods is a sure fire way that you crave it so much that you eventually binge, then you feel like you failed and…

The calorie burn can be off, many people only eat back a portion. Start with 1/3rd of your burn and see if that helps with the energy. Gradually increase as needed. Have you majorly cut carbs recently? Sometimes severely limiting carbs will make you feel fatigue, they call it the “keto flu” I think.

What device are you using to count your steps?
-
Absolutely you can! Exercise has a lot of benefits (mental health, heart health, burning more calories, etc.) but it isn’t necessary to lose weight. And exercise can be just going for a walk after dinner, it doesn’t have to be some super strenuous sweat inducing torture if exercise isn’t your thing.

I only do walking workouts, but I put my activity in MFP as sedentary then use the Pacer app for MFP to count my steps and activity and then it transfers over for full credit. When I set up the Pacer app I have it to look at my Apple Watch for my step counts. One hassle after setting everything up... you need to update…

For me, I carry weight in my belly but my face also gets really round. I can start noticing a difference in my face around 10 pounds and others start noticing around 20. I’m only 5’3 so it takes less weight to make a big difference in my appearance. I’ve lost 21 pounds and I’ve gone down a shirt and pant size, but my belly…

I can’t be happy long term at 1200 calories, it isn’t enough for me and if I’m not happy then I binge and say screw it and that defeats the purpose. I’m now at 1300 calories (1 pound/week) and I’m going to try it for a few days and see how I feel, I think that will be too low as well. You can lower your weight loss goal to…

It could be that your belly isn’t actual fat, but a common pregnancy issue called Diastasis Recti. From heathline.com: “Diastasis recti is the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominis, or “six-pack” muscles, which meet at the midline of your stomach. Diastasis recti is very common during and following…

I’m 11 pounds from my first goal and currently the lowest weight I’ve been in 10 years. I hit 20 pounds lost this morning and I really want to take a week and eat at maintenance for a break, but because I’m “close” I’m terrified I won’t get back to it, so I’m going to power through the best that I can. I got a little wake…

Your calories may be too low and/or you need to eat more filling foods (protein especially).
