  • I did it several years ago through my employer so I could earn HSA cash. I wasn’t serious about losing weight at the time but I remember doing a lot of eye rolling. I bet the program has improved since then. Good luck!
  • I would encourage healthier snacks in the house for everyone but depending on the age of they kids I would hesitate to never buy the “good snacks” again, the kids (and you) need to learn that treats are okay in moderation but not to eat all day every day. Otherwise, what about gathering all the snacks you have a hard time…
  • You learn very quickly to limit foods with high calorie counts and low nutrition (like cereal). One egg is more filling and less calories than a serving of most cereals, not even taking into account the milk.
  • Are you sure it is PCOS? I’m not an expert, but from what I’ve read and experienced PCOS usually starts shortly after puberty or early 20s.
  • Are you weighing and measuring your food or just guessing?
  • I’ve had gestational diabetes 3 times (not the same as type 2, I know) and my father is type 2. I don’t know what those symptoms mean, but you need to see a doctor ASAP if your blood sugar levels are out of control, it can cause serious long term health issues. While you wait to be seen you need to examine your diet…
  • PCOS is caused by a hormone imbalance. Having your tubes tied does not affect your hormones unless you also had your ovaries removed which is not common, especially as a form of birth control.
  • If you have known disc/back issues and current back pain then 1) you need to stop jumping rope or any other activity that causes pain and 2) go see a doctor.
  • I drink diet soda daily and in losing weight (18 pounds and counting in 2 months). I’ve had gestational diabetes 3 times and drank diet soda and my numbers were fine. You may have a different experience, but you should be fine.
  • I was pretty sedentary (desk job and lazy) so I bought an Apple Watch and realized some days I barely got 3,000 steps in. I have my calorie goal to sedentary and to lose 1 pound a week. I sync my steps up but don’t usually eat my exercise calories back and that helps increase my weight loss without being super restricted…
  • Exercise is important, but you really do need to start off doing something that matches your fitness level. Doing something high impact/super intense at the beginning will just make you miserable and you will burn yourself out when you can’t finish the program. Simply walking can be a great calorie burn and as you get…
  • So how many calories are you actually eating in a day? How old are you and how tall are you?
  • I eat pizza on average of once a week. For me, this won’t work if I’m miserable and feel like I can’t eat what I want, so I build room into my day/week for ice cream, pizza, or whatever treat sounds good. The change is that I eat 2 pieces of pizza instead of 5 or I take an extra long walk to “earn” some more calories, or I…

  • All fruits have sugar, some veggies, breads, etc. unless you are diabetic or have some medical condition you don’t really need to monitor it closely.
  • If this is for blood sugar management you need to pay attention to goal carb count, not just sugar. ALL carbs (bread, potatoes, cake, candy, fruit, etc) raise your blood sugar. Pairing your carbs with protein helps your body process the carbs better and taking even a short walk after eating helps even more. Depending on…
  • Also, have you had a thyroid panel done recently? If not I would ask for one, plus a full blood work up. Thyroid issues can greatly affect your weight and metabolism and adding a medicine can help straighten things out fairly easily.
  • Have you considered getting a second (or third or fourth) opinion from doctors? Because “having” to exercise for HOURS each day with 1300 calories just to maintain your current weight does not sound right. I’m not an expert but I would keep digging to see if you can find someone else who might be able to help you find a…
  • I’m so sorry you are having those experiences, you are trying and that is what is important! Are there any other medications your doctor can prescribe that would work without the muscle weakness as a side effect? Have you looked into using a cane/walking stick or a walker? Maybe having something you can hold onto will help…
  • Can you do a walk with the baby earlier in the morning to avoid the heat? I have 2 kids (2.5 and 9 months) and I’ve been doing a 2 mile walk every morning right after breakfast. Pushing the double stroller even burns more calories! Also, they make battery operated fans that can clip on a stroller, and cooling towels and…
  • Some women’s weight can fluctuate 5-10 pounds depending on where they are in their cycle.
  • Pinterest has a TON of recipes for low carb or low calorie or any other “low” food you could ever want.
  • It WILL happen, unfortunately we just can’t say when. Hang in there!
  • I’ve had 2 csections and my pooch was literally the length of my index finger and I was convinced I would need surgery to remove it. I’ve counted calories and walked for almost 2 months, lost 16 pounds (halfway to my first goal) and I realized today that my pooch is now only hanging down to my second knuckle, so it is…
  • If WW worked for you and you liked it, can you do the program using your old materials without attending meetings? Or you can just follow your own low(er) fat/carb meal plan and count calories...
  • BMI is a terrible way to determine “healthy”, especially for those who are muscular. Try not to let that data point define you or your progress.
  • You aren’t alone, many have gained weight since March. Be proud of yourself for making the decision to do something about it!
  • I’m 5’3 and 182. I have it set to lose 1 pound a week and I’m at 1390 (sedentary) a day. I personally am miserable when I’m on 1200 calories a day, very little wiggle room for a treat. I would rather lose at a slower pace than be miserable. So if 1209 works for you then great, but don’t be afraid to change things if it…
  • I walk for 30-60 minutes a day and I’ve been listening to podcasts. They usually keep my mind from wondering too much and help the time pass quickly on the days I forced myself to walk anyway. That being said, as a non medically trained person, it sounds like you may have some general anxiety and/or some issues you need to…
