  • I have a Schwinn 470 which is wonderful.
  • I have had success lately telling people I am here to log my food and take control of my health- not flirt or anything else. Once I say that I never hear from them again. It is a shame and leads me to not want to accept anyone because frankly I don’t feel like spending the time to vet folks.
  • As a reminder BMR is what your body burns in a coma- TDEE is what you burn daily based on your activity and is higher than bmr. Your Applewatch May be off- one day isn’t going to tell you- track the data and look at trends. Did you set the info in my health correctly? Set your stride? Etc.
  • Several years worth of work, rebound and rededication. The key was never giving up and working with the tools and knowledge found here and elsewhere. I have about 30 more pounds to go but am at the lowest weight in 30 years (since I was a teenager). This community has helped so much.
  • I agree with @janejellyroll above. That said- I can fit most anything in my calories with planning and moderation. When I was traveling for work (preCovid) I would either take or stop and buy my usual protein shakes (daily breakfast) and snacks/lunches- cucumbers, carrots, celery, cheese sticks, yogurt, salad, etc. from a…
  • Doesn’t matter one way or the other to me as long as he doesn’t expect to work out with me 🤣🤣. All jokes aside we tried that for awhile and it didn’t work for me. I need significant cardio time and strength time for my goals and sanity- he does no cardio so he was always waiting for me to finish, etc. Gym time is my time…
  • Online it says 100g is 11 calories. 1tsp is estimated at 4.7g. There are approximately 24 tsp in a half cup. That at least gives you something to guesstimate off of.
  • I managed to buy a used Nike Apple Watch Series 3 when my Fitbit Blaze broke for the same price of a new Fitbit Versa or Blaze and cannot imagine going back now.
  • I am 5’7” and had almost the same starting weight as you at the end of January (210) - averaged 1200-1400 calories a day plus exercise calories until I hit a 6 week plateau at 175ish in May-June. I didn’t start losing again until about a week after I bumped to 1500-1600 calories a day - at which point it started again and…
  • I supinate as well and went to a local running shop that fits you and analyzes your gait. I ended up with a pair of Altras and a pair of Brooks and rotate them- at 30-40 miles a week and rotating pairs I replace about every 5 - 6 months.
  • I don’t know if it is because of weighing less or the fact that I work out and strive for gains in endurance (during cardio) but now at 165-170 (down from 210 in January) I have much more endurance. I can easily walk or hike 10+ miles and then do more- I don’t drop after exercise and need to relax- it energizes me to do…
  • I still have trouble seeing the changes other than in pictures and I constantly try on sizes too big for me. Another interesting phenomenon for me is I feel like I have imposter syndrome- I don’t belong to either the fit and slender ground or the plus size and inactive group. It is funny actually- I try to work on it daily.
  • I can’t help much- I will tell you that I use a heart rate monitor and a 16.5 mile ride in 45 min in a flat terrain burns me about 389-400 ish calories according to it. I am 5’7” and 170lb female. I usually assume my calorie burn estimate is about 15-20% high so I am careful not to eat back more that 50-70% or exercise…
  • You might consider hockey or lacrosse stick wrap or even athletic tape.
  • My mother lives with us because of health issues- I have been heavy my entire life and she has not. I am at my lowest adult weight currently and have been working hard to get there. I have about 30-40 more to go. She has recently hit her highest weight and largest size- still nowhere near where I was at my heaviest, but…
  • I actually started out by weighing myself several times a day- not for any other reason than to learn. I read the wonderful posts on here about how much weight can fluctuate in a day, etc. based upon what you eat, your monthly cycle, your exercise regime, etc. it was very eye opening for me and I actually no longer feel…
  • I love the ready for you 100 calorie packs of almonds but my area grocery chains were all out for weeks so I bought snack bags and a bulk bag and used my scale and portioned them out myself. I admit while it saved me money it was a depressing reminder that only 11-14 almonds are 100 calories. I also had to fight the urge…
  • The seamstress definition is a 10 inch differential or greater between the waist measurement and hip measurement.
  • I usually travel for work and I eat out a lot- sometimes with clients and sometimes just alone. That said I am very careful and volume eat salads, no dressing/cheese/croutons, and order a small steak or chicken breast with it for dinner. (NOT a fish fan unfortunately) I also take food with me when I drive regionally or hit…
  • I am the same- no big drop- I really only lose weight about 2 weeks a month- has been a consistent issue for seven months now. It used to freak me out but now I know to expect it and just keep going.
  • I am not a big morning eater but do need something so I do cold coffee with protein powder in it as a breakfast- holds me from 6 am until 1 pm or so for lunch usually
  • Joe- my first thought is work with your doctor and see if he can refer you to a physiotherapist, etc. who can help design a program for you specifically based upon your health status, goals, etc. If that isn’t an option or may not be for awhile maybe try something less impactful than walking- my mother has health issues…
  • Premier protein Vanilla powder and iced coffee every morning.
  • If you have Facebook search it for your town’s (or neighboring town’s) Buy Nothing group- it is a movement to allow swap and gifting amongst members- people post “wishes” and offerings daily. Clothes- kids and adult- go regularly. Similar postings on our town community boards and other groups. I also frequented thrift…
  • I am 5’7”. My first goal was 175 which I have finally made. My next one is 155 which is the lowest adult weight I can remember even seeing- though very briefly. After that I will see- I suspect it will depend more on my visual appearance/body composition to me than the scale number.
  • I agree with all of the above. It is a personal choice. I enjoy the elliptical, really liked it at the gym and was lucky enough to score a great deal on one just at the beginning of the pandemic stay at home orders so I could continue at home. I was lucky as I managed to grab a great deal on a high quality one that I would…
  • Amazing job!! Congratulations!!
  • I drink coffee with two scoops of premier protein vanilla every morning as my breakfast.
  • Evening everyone- I am 44, 5’7” . I started in earnest in MFP in January at 209. Currently 178. Goal is 150. Just saw this thread as I am starting to explore the boards more and wanted to say hi!
  • I second the body glide or other antichafing items for prevention. If you get any bumps there is a product called boil ease that is part numbing agent and drawing salve that always helped me.
