If brisk walking does nothing else, it gets me out of my basement gym and get fresh air on the days when I don't run. In winter it can be challenging to avoid the ice when walking. I have fallen a few times on ice that I couldn't see. The benefits of just being outside for fresh air makes the risk worth it to me. Clears…

Not as an adult, but have been dealing with various food allergies (along with environmental) all my life.

I learned long ago that not snacking is not sustainable long term so I account for it in my overall plan. Keep in mind what like will be like for you once you hit your ultimate target weight. For me, 'living' with snacks is/was part of that. If you think you will be able to not snack - then adjust accordingly.

There are many of us here 50+ Regardless of age, we are all in this together. Don't give up and eventually you will find the right combination of 'things' that work best for you.

I'm mid-50's. Some of my intensity and endurance has reduced since I began training 6 years ago. My focus is now to train hard, but to also train smart.

Some books will help try to guide you through the thought process. What Color is your Parachute is one of the gold standards. 'Pivot: The Only Move That Matters Is Your Next One' is another... Another one I know people who got a bunch out of is 'Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for You Through the Secrets of…

Almost 30 years for me in the large corporate arena doing financial stuff. Eventually completely burned out from the stress. Was downsized at the end of last year and didn't care. Covid has delayed many possibilities of getting back into something. It will NOT be what I have done in the past (neither will the…

Congratulations for putting yourself into a great mindset. There will always be ups & downs. It's how we respond that makes the difference.

My guess... in the long(er) run... - The 'free' stuff will become more limited - The platform will eventually change Time will tell.

I don't have to drive to get there.. seriously... I am not the kind of person who would go someplace to exercise on a regular basis. I don't have for someone in front of me to be done using the space or the equipment. I choose what gear I want in the space and how I want it placed. I'm steps away from my own shower when…

Same.. About the only 'balance' I can claim is: I balance out the beer I have in one hand with the chips/snacks I have in the other.

Yes... Absolutely. I've never worked for one that wasn't highly toxic/dysfunctional. What they get away with would last all of 30 seconds in a major place (at least the ones I've worked in).

30+ years and never have. Realize HR works for the employer and not the employee. They are their to protect the company. Just my opinion.

Started in 2014. Come / go based on life circumstances. Logging is an enormously helpful tool, however, I log on rare occasions but mostly do not. No right or wrong answer. Whatever works best for you is the only right answer for you.

127 for me. Longest was 1000+ on a different account when I first signed up 6 years ago. A lot of truth to this...

I am a casual runner who does approximately 12-15 miles per week. It used to be much more but I scaled it back to accommodate other activities and help to prevent injury. There are a few components that help to prevent injury and help to keep you out there running for many years... 1. Appropriate footwear for YOU. Not the…

I guess this is a better way to say this for me as well. Some friends here in past years have had significant life challenges and hope they made out okay. I don't think of them all the time, but from time-to-time.

Indeed.. You have to want it to work and be willing to put in the work for it to be sustainable. No one said it was supposed to be easy. We've had mutual interests at various points along the way. Sometimes those fade and come back - sometimes they do not. We try to always respect / support each other's interests though,…

A few over the years, yes...

Off the cuff, for us... No belief in the 50/50 rule... Just 100/100. Anything short of that is not giving it your all. - Respect each other including the evolution of changes for both. Changes constantly come. Need to work through them all. - Be willing to work at it. Both really need to WANT it.. More than anything…

In terms of 'fat loss' - an elliptical nor any other machine or program will provide this. It will help to burn calories - but at the end of the day - loss comes from calorie reduction long term. An hour on an elliptical may burn calories, but it's no match at all for a higher calorie intake. Consider how it will be moved…

26.5 years of being an "A". 32 years if you add in the dating period.

If it inspires someone to get up and exercise, then it works. Nothing wrong with that. I did a couple of their programs a handful of years ago (before on-demand existed) and it inspired me to seek out additional lifting routines outside of their domain.

I'm in again for this month with a goal of 200 miles. Goal = 200 miles / Actual = 143 miles 7/2 - 28.5 7/3 - 28.5

I see both sides. There are some days after working 12+ hours pulling shrubs, hauling rock and dirt, I feel like I've exercised. Even longer than my 2 hour/30 mile bike ride today. I don't feel like it though when I vacuum, clean bathrooms, kitchen and other routine chores. I think some of 'it' needs to factor in the…

Last ride for the month was this morning. Goal = 200 miles / Actual = 216.5 miles 6/4 - 25.75 miles 6/5 - 27.25 miles 6/9 - 30.50 miles 6/11 - 22 Miles 6/13 - 26 Miles 6/14 - 11 Miles (leisure ride with my family) 6/18 - 28 Miles 6/20 - 24 Miles 6/29 - 22 Miles
