  • Congrats on your loss! - Some people like interacting with friends - some don't. - Some don't have time - some do. - Some don't keep the app on a mobile device to be 'current' to respond - some do. - Some go dormant after a period due to life circumstances.. Some don't. - Some people gather friends and then decide perhaps…
  • I will live vicariously through all of you! I'm about 10 weeks away from being able to share... Still many inches of snow and ice here and much more to come.
  • If you are waiting for a C2.. They are worth the wait! I've had mine almost 7 years and it's as good as the day I set it up for the first time. It helps to offset other activities I do so I log approximately 1 million meters per year. The thing is top shelf quality!
  • Concept2 - worth the wait if there is one. If you compare the cost to ellipticals and moderate priced treadmills, they are less expensive, much easier to store and much lighter to move around.
  • My view.. It's more important to have folks on my list who I interact with in some capacity. Even if it's simply clicking 'like'. To have a large list and no contact whatsoever makes no sense to me (my view only). I find once I hit 60, it's no longer feasible to keep up.
  • There are times when we simply need to give ourselves a break. Periods (weeks) of our lives can be emotionally and mentally challenging and exhausting. 'Healthy' not only includes a number on a scale, but also how our state of mental and emotional well being are. When the pendulum shifts too far in any one direction, it's…
  • Looking after two kids and a home is exhausting. So be sure to cut yourself a break. When I have periods of time where I am not motivated to exercise, I try to assess if I am simply fatigued and need a rest (sometimes a few days) or if it's simply taking the first step and just go do it. Once I'm doing it my body wakes up.
  • Assuming there's no major medical condition going on that is undetected, I also concur with Massage Therapy. Chiropractic has not made a major contribution but does help a little. My issue is more muscular than skeletal so it's really not the best strategy. My upper back has been tight for decades and it goes back to…
  • Having been on/off MFP over the last 6+ years... I can't agree with you more. Perhaps it's those that are relatively new comers to the process that struggle with the balance. To be honest, at first I did as well. Thankfully it didn't take me too long to realize that the path I was on was more destructive than beneficial.…
  • A sustainable balance of both to make it work long term. 'Sustainable balance' can only be defined by the individual. Ignoring mental and emotional well being in the overall mix is a mistake.
  • I've been in maintenance for about 5 years. 2-3 pound swings are 'normal' for me. However, I have been in periods where I got too close to my own personal high-end of my range. When this happens, I consciously begin logging and remain in a deficit until I get to the mid or lower end of my desired range.
  • I haven't hit my ultimate goal of 135, however, I consider anything below 140 highly successful in maintenance. I think I am going to sit the next round out. SW: 144 (maintenance is 135-145) GW: 135 Round 133 ending weight: 138.4 Day/Weight/Comment 12/03 - 137.4 12/04 - 137.2 12/05 - 138.2 - high sodium and alcohol 12/06 -…
  • he 'drops' will be progressively difficult as December moves along. I'm OK with that. In fact, I will probably gain a few lbs. I don't deny myself the many food and beverage celebrations that come with the holiday season but the log will be for honesty sakes. SW: 144 (maintenance is 135-145) GW: 135 Round 133 ending…
