Not a strange goal at all. If it is a healthier weight than you are now, then it is a great goal.

Good nutrition, regular sleep cycle, adequate sleep, good stress management, low levels of anxiety, and freedom from depression will help your energy and focus. Otherwise there is caffeine which is of questionable benefit in the long run, and a bunch of worthless crap that is marketed with lies and not worth anything. For…

I think there needs to be a middle ground. Like "avoid excess negativity. " I hear about a lot of destructive activities related to body image. I.e. when people won't buy clothes in their size, so have only a couple outfits, or people who won't go swimming, or avoiding seeing old friends or social gatherings because of…

F$%^ the numbers. YOU know whether you feel good about the way you look and feel, or if you have extra flab to loose, or if you are not in the kind of shape you would like to be. And you probably have a feel for how much YOU are going to realistically be able to change it within a lifestyle that is comfortable for you. If…

I think the idea is that you should be gradual about getting back to "regular" eating because it is likely that you will gain a couple pounds of water weight if you make a sudden change in diet and come out of deficit mode. This is biological, and not a sign of fat gain. However, it is really disappointing to see your…

I think that most people plateau somewhere in the first month. Initially, glycogen stores go down, which also makes you loose water. This is often 5 - 8 lbs of weight. It is more dramatic on low-carb diets, but you can see it on just about any diet. After a couple weeks, your body tends to re-adjust, store some more…

The calculated TDEE is a good place to start. However, the bottom line is that whatever you are doing now. If you want to loose weight you need to eat less than you are currently, and or exercise more. If you TDEE - 500 = 1580, and you think you are eating 1580, my guess is that you aren't being accurate with your calorie…

Low fat, especially saturated fat. High fiber. If overweight, lose weight. There is some evidence that alcohol. sugars and high-glycemic foods can also contribute to high cholesterol. I went from a slightly unhealth diet to whole foods, vegan, low-ish carbs, and added 3 40min exercise sessions per week. I lost 35 lbs…

Those 38's that you have had a while may be a bit stretched out already. (especially since you notices that they were tight at one point.) So, there may be a BIG difference between them and a 36. If the ones you have a baggy, you might try on a new pair of 38's. Although it won't be as satisfying as going down a size, it…

Venlafaxine (effexor), and Sertraline each clearly made me gain about 15 lbs in the first 2 - 3 months, and then my weight stabilized. They pretty clearly increased by appetite and made it very hard to diet. I had no problems with Bupropion. It did not make me lose weight, but I found it much easier to stick with my plan…

2 lb per week (1 kilo) per week would be about the max. That would mean big changes to diet, and would probably feel difficult, but with motivation can be done while staying health. My experience is that to lose weight at that rate, it has to be the focus of your life. On the other hand 0.5 - 1 lb (0.25 - 0.5 kg) per week…

My quick tricks are either brushing teeth or eating a grapefruit at the time that binge cravings tend to come on. Either of those leave me not wanting to eat for a while.

A friend once told me that there is no such thing as a "cheat" day. Cheating is breaking the rules to give yourself an advantage or a benefit. You dont benefit from breaking rules on your diet. It just sets you back. They are "sabotage" days. Not cheat days.

I would say to start with lower goals. If it seems easy, or once your habits are better, you can always up your game. It is more motivating be successful and increase your goals than to aim to high and need to scale back.

One thing that seems simple and silly, but has really helped me is overnight oats for breakfast. Having something ready to go in the morning, that I need to eat that day because it won't last keeps me on track for the morning. Starting the day with something filling and healthy seems to set the tone and get me started off…

It sounds like maybe you should open. A discussion, not tell her something. How would something like this work: "do you want to talk about it?"..... "is there any way I can be helpful?" Or "I worry about you weight, but I care more about your happiness. What would you want me to do?"

For those of you saying that t2d is only "in remission" and not reversed ie "cured": then does that mean there an millions of thin healthy people who "have" diabetes but just dont know it because they would develop diabetes if they ate poorly and gained weight? My understanding is that for many people the underlying…

I am trying to only drink because I feel good. I.e. celebrations, social events, etc. When I drink because I feel bad, it doesnt make anything better. If I feel bad, it usually means that i need to sleep, or i need to get active. One of those is usually the real answer to the problem.

Really depends on what your goals are and what works for you. I know that if I eat vegan, no sweets, no alcohol, and run 4 days a week, I will loose weight. So anything that motivates me to stick to that is sufficient. However, if you plan to keep the same general way of eating, but just eat less, then measuring and…

Daily. I feel like it is a good idea to remind myself each morning what I am doing and to keep it active in my mind. Generally I find it motivating either way. If the number is higher than I want, then I have motivation to eat less. If the number is low, I feel good about it and want to stay on track. I find myself wanting…

Don't worry about how much you are pooping. That will change as you change how much you eat, amount of fiber, the bactiera in your gut, etc. Your body will do what it needs to, and eventually everything that needs to come out will. The only reason to take laxatives is if you are having hard stools and you are uncomfortable…

Just concentrate on how you feel, the knowledge that you are getting healthier, and how you look in clothes. The loos skin may or may not happen. There is really nothing you can do about it. Hopefully you won't get much loose skin. But even if you do, I bet you will feel better than you do now. Also, don't panic if you do…

Whenever I am cutting up vegetables for a recipe, I cut a few extra and put them in one-portion size baggies. That way when I open the fridge looking for something to eat, there are fresh vegie snacks right there in front.

Mostly watch the calories and protein. There is no problem with going over on the protein, but it is important not to vo under on a regular basis because then you risk losing muscle mass. For carbs and fats just let them fall as they will, as long as they are from healthy sources. If you notice that you rent to run high on…

Carbs are not the problem. However, two of the most readily available carbs in the standard american diet are sugar and white flour. These are just empty calories with virtually no nutritional value, and high glycemic index; which leads to high blood sugar, insulin spikes, insulin resistance, increased risk of diabetes,…

Great convenient source of protein with low fat and calories. Make a good scramble with sauteed veggies and som herbs.

Typically people don't stop having their period due to weight loss unless they are really under weight. But really, a person can randomly skip a period or two for just about any reason, or no reason. (change in diet, stress, minor medical illness, etc. I wouldn't worry. Some women are like clockwork, others miss many…

I went vegan (combined with healthy eating), and lowered my cholesterol from 246 to 160. Lots of black bean soup, lentils, vegan chilli, hummus, overnight oats with nuts or hemp seed, lots of salads with tofu and/or sunfower seeds, soymilk smoothies, etc.

I do overnight oats a lot - add nuts, yogurt, cinnamon, fruit, whatever. The discipline of making it the night before, and then having something right there, the right portions, that won't last long, helps to keep me on track with eating what I am supposed to, which is a great way to start the day. Same with chia pudding,…

I do not find the phrase "worth every calorie" to be off-putting at all. It is a sentiment that most people feel at some point and can resonate with. common and not offensive. I do see where some people could find it annoying in a cooking show when they are trying to enjoy the food. So, maybe not "perfect" wording for the…
