That losing weight doesn't magically turn back the clock. The last time I saw myself thin, I was twenty-five. All the years since, I assumed that if I lost weight I would find my familiar twenty-five-year-old face waiting. Instead, when I finally lost the weight, I was startled to find an almost forty-year-old face in the…

I tell myself that my day might be going lousy but that I'll feel better if I get at least one thing accomplished - a workout.

I was going to suggest leggings and a tunic top but it sounds like you've already thought of that.

To lose my Covid lbs, I dusted off an old workout DVD (Jillian Michaels) that had sat on my shelf for a decade. I do those workouts every day, working my way through all the levels. It was free, since I already owned the DVD. The only equipment I use are 3 lb and 5 lb weights (Walmart). Luckily, I already have a padded rug…

I'm in an area that doesn't get very cold, so I'm hoping to keep running throughout the winter. I'm relying on lots of layers that I can remove between laps if I start getting overheated. It's mainly just my nose that tends to get cold and my ears ache if there's a cold wind. Easy enough to cover my ears but I haven't…

Before following along with my workout video, I do a couple minutes of jumping jacks and hip and knee circles. That seems to work pretty well. Before running, I just walk for a couple minutes. That's all the warm up I do.

Thanks for weighing in, everyone. It's interesting to see what everybody's methods are. I'm not training for a marathon or anything, just running for fun and general health (mental benefits as well as physical). I've been at it a couple months now, and am still trying to get a sense of what kind of goals to set myself.…

If your friend is seriously bodybuilding while you're following a more typical diet and exercise routine, I would think the methods (and calories) that work for him will be different from what works for you. My own experience is that "free days" never worked quite the same for me as they did for my husband when he was…

Sorry you're having a tough time, tabilw. I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you're doing all the things and yet weight loss has ground to a halt. Some suggestions: Try eating low calorie prepackaged meals for awhile, so you'll know exactly how many calories you're taking in for every meal. Weigh yourself…

I hate anything green - except jalapenos.

This thread is dangerous. ;) Too many pictures of delicious food. *backs away slowly* Also, a crispy chicken biscuit with hash browns. That's what I want right now.

Try a cup of pretzels? Or a pack of freeze dried fruit crisps? Those are my go-tos when I've got the munchies in the evening. Nibbling slowly makes the snack last about ten minutes, which feels like a satisfying amount of time. If I've had my pretzels and fruit crisps for the evening already and still want something else…

Some of my faves: Arby's - classic roast chicken sandwich (370 cals). Chick-fil-A - grilled chicken sandwich (320 cals) or grilled wrap (350 cals). Sonic - grilled chicken sandwich (470 cals, less if you ask to leave off the mayo) or grilled chicken wrap (480 cals). I fall back on chicken a lot. :)

I weigh at the same time every day, before eating. I expect about 1 lb of fluctuation on any given day and don't get discouraged by that. I find the daily weigh-ins motivating, plus it's interesting to see what all goes into the fluctuations. I also feel like watching every day allows me to correct course early if…

I run for an hour 6x per week, do a workout DVD for half an hour 7x per week, walk my dogs for a half hour about 3x per week. Occasionally, I'll mix in some bike riding or swimming or do an extra workout DVD but I don't do those extras regularly. I aim for an hour and a half of intense exercise per day and then maybe a…
