Well, after I read how Jardiance works, I did a bit of research. Did you know, that in the middle ages, and maybe earlier, that doctors diagnosed diabetes by tasting the urine. A sugary urine indicated diabetes. I don't know what they would have done about it. So since Jardiance, and I guess Farxiga work to get rid of…

That really does help. Thanks. So far(knock on wood) no side effects. I do drink lots of water, shower and change after a workout(not that I needed to be told). I do watch for the infections and such. But I have to say, I was hoping I would lose more weight, but that's not happening. But, life goes on.

I get it! I was told not to worry about my weight by my doctor. Easier said than done. Focus on blood sugar levels and controlling my pancreatitis. So, I`m pretty good, most of the time. I use the 80/20 rule. Follow my eating plan 80% of the time, 20% not so much, within reason. And, I've been holding steady at this…

Wow, congrats to all of you. I do track my carbs and other nutrients as advised by my doctors. I have a major junk food addiction. I love my chips with a chocolate bar to wash them down with. But, I can honestly say, I have been junk food free for 2 months now, and my numbers have improved. After all these years of being…

Not at all! I did do a very slow 5K's. I had an angioplasty in July. They had to put two stents in my right coronary artery to correct and 80% blockage. The doctor feels that that may have affected my difficulties getting my exercise in. So, I am walking three times a week, at least one bike ride. And, I start an exercise…

How do you survive on 20 carbs a day? Personally, I know I couldn't do it. I have about 120 to 145 a day. ANd, here is the question that is foremost on my mind. Aren't you afraid that if you add carbs back into your diet, you would gain any weight back within months.

Thanks for asking. The Jardiance is really helping with my blood sugar levels. Most days now, before meals is below 6(CDN), I used to know how to convert to American numbers, but I forget now. And my A1C this month was down to 7.3%, which is down a little. My GP doesn't want it too low, so probably closer to 7%-7.1% so I…

In order to avoid flare ups as well as more damage to my pancreas, I take digestive enzymes, and was told to have no more than 40 grams of fat per day, 10 per meal. For the most part I do pretty well with that. I do have an occasional 'cheat day' where I go over all my allowances, carbs, fat and now cholesterol. I swear,…

Unfortunately, we all have trigger foods, or treats, and keeping them handy which eventually will wear us down. A friend of mine has joined an online group called FOOD ADDICTS ANONYMOUS. She is finding it so helpful, and has lost 28 lbs in about 1 1/2 month. She feels healthier, has the accountablility, sponsors, and tools…

Not at all helpful. I don't have a well functioning pancreas. Due to a little error in a gallstone removal, I contracted an infection, that became necrotizing pancreatitis. Over the course of a year, I went from 50% functioning pancreas to 10%, maybe less now. I can't follow a LCHF diet that you push, because too much fat…

I don't know how it works in the States, but my doctors are great. They treat the whole person with diet and exercise, and as a very, very last resort, I had to go on insulin. But, keep in mind, my pancreas was almost completely distroyed by a surgical error.

What do you mean by 'dial it in'? Was your doctor talking about dieting to see if that helps with weight and blood sugar? As for the CGM, because it tests the fluid just under the skin, not your actual blood. I stick with the finger sticks, because I am allergic to adhesive on anything. In my opinion, if Januvia is working…

Unlike you MargaretYokada, I like to walk during the day. However, if it's too freakin hot, I can't manage it. I don't do well in the heat. So, if I don't get it done first thing in the morning when it's cool, I don't do it. This has lead to weight gain and higher A1C. I like your idea of the alarms. I''m going to give…

Congratulations for all your success. You took the bull by the horns and got the job done. Keep up the good work!

Well, I must admit I am a junk food junkie. And I love jujubes and chips. I did pretty good today. I stuck to my list with one exception. I bought a jar of dill pickles. When I got home, I was feeling rather sweaty. Checked my sugars and they were 3.9(Canadian). Must remember to eat before shopping.

Thanks for the info. I don't count protein as 1/2 carbs when I use my insulin. Didn't know we were supposed to. I know we can subtract the fibre from the total carbs, but I never do. I am assuming the CGM is one of those fancy smancy things you stick on your arm to check your glucose level? I can't use them because I have…

I do log it all at each meal. I weigh and measure everything as well. If not, I blow the day all to hell. I do allow myself one 'free' day, or else I would really go off the deep end. By the way, what does FWIW mean?

I hear ya about the carb addictions. I have a real sweet tooth that will kick in, then all I can think about is chocolate, or some kind of candy. I do walk or bike at least 4 times a week. I also do 'races'. I walk 5K's since 2018. That's when I will get lows, when I'm 'training' and drinking lots of water. Thanks everyone…

That`s pretty much what I do too. I just get so tired of it sometimes. Because I have chronic pancreatitis from a surgery gone wrong, I not only have to watch my carbs, but also the amount of fat I eat. I can be a little daunting sometimes. When I do take a break, say one day a week, it sometimes takes a week for my…

Pretty much. I mean, the solution is free, but strips aren't. Thanks for answering.
