Freestyle Libre system
Good morning everyone. I have been using this system since the middle of September. The first sensor I used was completely out of whack compared to the strip. It was a free sample, so no big loss. I called the manufacturer to ask them about the difference. They said it was definitely not working right, so they sent me a…

September challenge
Hi everyone. I have joined a challenge to get 30 minutes of activity for every day in September. It is in support of the Ottawa Heart Institute. Last year, I had an angioplasty to have two stents in my right coronary artery. Just another joy in my life(lol) Anyway, I'm hoping it will help with my diabetes as well. I have…

Six small meals a day
I have been stuggling with this concept ever since I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. I am not supposed to have more than 40grams of fat per day, no more that 10 grams per meal. So here's my problem. What is a small meal? Does that mean 'snack size' meals? For anyone out there who has to follow a meal plan like…

Control binge eating?
Let me start by saying I am type 2 diabetic with mitigating circumstances. In 2013 I went in for a routine ERCP to remove a gallstone. The doctor nicked my pancreas, it got infected with C-difficle. It developed into necrotizing pancreatitis. 4 months in the hospital fighting the infection and losing 50% of the function of…

Dexcom G6
Hi Everyone. I'm trying out the Dexcom G6 system. It's a free offer, and I couldn't pass up the chance. I want to see two things. 1) how it tracks my numbers 2) if I get a rash from the adhesive. I'm allergic to most adhesives, depending on where I put it. If I've had bandages somewhere before, I'm okay, but a new spot, a…

Reducing insulin dose
Good morning and Happy New Year, Before Christmas, my doctor lowered my insulin dose from 1:15 ratio to 1:20 ratio. Of course, my finger tests where a little higher, not by much, but there you go. So, my question to you all, how long do you think it would take for your body to adjust to the new dosage?

Low blood sugar and cravings.
Has anyone noticed a rise in cravings after a low blood sugar incident? If I have a reading between 4(64.8) and 2.5(40.5) I I hope I did the math right. I correct for it with juice or glucose tab, but then I always seem to want something sweet after that. Anyone else?

Sorry for the TMI but...
Have you ever peed and it smells really sweet? Jardiance is supposed to help your kidneys flush out excess glucose in you blood. So, since I've been taking it, every now and again when I've eaten a little more carbs than I should, the next day, when I pee, it really smells sweet. I guess that means the Jardiance is doing…

Jardiance
Good morning everyone. Hope you're all doing well. My doctor has added Jardiance to my medications. My A1C was higher this month, so she was a little worried that I was heading down a dangerous path. I am feeling kinda depressed as well, so before she changes those meds, she is going to get me into a treatment program.…

Jardiance, heart and angioplasty
Hi everyone. Since taking Jardiance, my numbers have definitely improved. Also, less urges to overeat. Turns out, it was my cardiologist that recommended I take Jardiance because, as a diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, my poor old heart was at risk. In the meantime, I was scheduled for an angiogram to check…

A neat trick when you're shopping
Good morning everyone. Another month of out of control eating, weight gain and sugar highs and lows. But, I belong to a diabetes support group here in Ottawa, Ontario. We're going virtual right now so we still get to 'meet' once a month. Last month, we were talking about losing control and how to avoid those junk food…

Dealing with lows
Good morning. After years of being diabetic, it seems I may need a refresher. I when I get low reading, if it's right before my meal, I just eat my meal and test again a bit after and all is good. If it's just out of the blue when I feel the symptoms, I drink some juice and wait for it go get back up there. So, if it…

Precise measurements of food
Okay, so I'm getting diabetes burnout. When I was first diagnosed, man I weighed and measure everything that went into my mouth. As I was learning how to deal with it, and the chronic pancreatitis, my numbers kept going up, then I was put on meds. Fast forward 8 years, my numbers are kinda steady, but they're higher than…

Control solution for test strips
Good morning. Not sure if I've asked this before, but here goes. My control solution expired this morning. Do we REALLY need to do a control test every time we change vials of test strips? Or, can we only do it if the vial gets damaged somehow. Thanks.
