Welcome to the group! I have found a lot of wisdom and good advice here and hope it will be the same for you. Feel free to send me a friend request. Carol

Oh, gee. @bebeisfit--I can relate to the bunny story. Sugar is my kryptonite. I've been overweight since infancy; I remember my mother giving me hot jello water in my bottle. (She didn't know any better at the time.) A pre-detox sugar binge (for me), would certainly slow down or obliterate any benefits of the subsequent…

I see I am not the only one who's nuts about nuts! Sorry, I'm feeling goofy this morning. :D Carol

Hi @CeeBeeSlim, I honestly don't know the answer to your question. I had my procedure done at an eye center and received some sort of IV anesthesia, though I was awake for the procedure. The entire process, from check-in to exit took about an hour. I only felt discomfort one time, and it was just for a second--but I…

Welcome to the group! I too, am sorry for your loss. You sound ready to improve your health and wellbeing. I hope you enjoy the group and MFP. Carol

Hi Liz, Last summer I had cataract surgery on one eye, and was amazed by how it improved my vision (and outlook, too). I think there will be some bike rides in your future! Cheers, Carol

Hello! It is great to have you here. :) Carol

Welcome! I also have a history of backsliding, but have enjoyed logging my meals on MFP. It has helped me stay on track. Spring is on the way, so hang in there! Carol

I thought the adaptation of Legends of the Fall was stronger than the spare and distanced narration in the book (maybe one of my least favorite of Jim Harrison's). I could not agree more about Misery--scary as hell both ways! Carol

Hi Liz! I am glad you found this group. Wishing you great success with your health goals. Carol :)

I lost about 4 lbs. in January, and though it's a small portion of what I need to lose (over 100 lbs.), I felt happy about it. For me, tracking is essential and it seems to be easy for me to track with MFP. I wish all of you a happy, healthy February!

The orange and zest sound like a fine addition. Maybe I will try this!

Hi, I'm Carol. I enjoy reading fiction (including contemporary Westerns and underdog tales), poetry, and children's lit. I have to do a fair amount of reading in relation to my work, but I tend to read slowly when reading for pleasure--so, my book list just keep growing. Recently, I finished Daniel Nyeri's Everything Sad…

Thanks for sharing the produce thread. I bookmarked that one. Yesterday I signed up for a Misfits food box, a collection of "ugly" fruits and vegetables that will be delivered to my door every other week. We eat a lot of produce, and I am hoping the box will expand our repertoire--at least during the winter. I aim to make…

As I read these posts, I realize how much I love breakfast! There's nothing here that sounds unappetizing. :)

Something I love that I don't see mentioned is my fish spatula. It makes for neater, more intact fish. :)

I too, love Brussels sprouts and eggplant. One great way to use eggplant and zucchini together is to make ratouille. I usually use the recipe from The Joy of Cooking, though there are many simiar ones available on the web. Vegetables were never my thing until I spent six weeks in Spain, where I was fed copious amounts of…

Congratulations on getting started, and on already losing weight. My advice is to treat yourself as kindly as you would a friend in your spot. Don't expect to be perfect and forgive yourself when you miss the mark. Keep your goals realistic and give your body the fuel it needs to be healty. Consider seeing a specialist as…

Hi Margie! It's great to meet you. :)

Welcome, Margrit! Feel free to send me a friend request. I think Maine is beautiful.

Salmon, with baked potatoes and zucchini--I had half of the smallest spud with some plain Greek yogurt and chives on it. 🥔

It sounds like your week was difficult on many fronts. Try to be patient and kind with yourself. It's wonderful that your folks got vaccinated! <3

I have never thought about gamification! I'm going to put my small collection of marbles to use today. Thanks for the ideas. :)

Welcome, barbmid! I struggle to get enough water even though I try to keep a cup next to me at all times. Does anyone have ideas for increasing water intake?

Wow, you are inspiring. Thanks for sharing your story and pics. :)

Thanks for taking the time to share your story. You are an inspiration!

Reynold's book sounds interesting. I think I'll request it from the library today (and Shuggie Bain, which I've been wanting to read). :)

Thanks for the inspiring post! <3

It's great to meet you, Cindy. I am also new to the group and to MFP. I have been overweight since infancy, and have lost weight on my own and on occasion, through Weight Watchers. I have always regained it though, and now my health is in jeopardy. It's been fun and easy to use the tracking tool in MFP, and this encourages…

The cat photos gave me immense pleasure! Thanks for sharing them. Carol
