  • That medicine you are hanging onto cannot help you unless you take it as prescribed. I was diagnosed type 2 in my mid 30s, 25 years ago. Most of this time I have tried to get around healthy eating by not doing it. Instead I relied on the medicine to keep me from experiencing the negative consequences I saw happen in my…
  • Update: Dr appt due to having low blood sugar numbers. Lost 5 pounds, since 1/28. Lowered insulin again to 50 units, from 80 originally, and eliminated Glipizide entirely! 😊
  • Every night I make a concoction of chocolate protein powder in heated water and 1%milk. Add a tblsp. fat free half n half and sugar free torani syrup (lots of flavors, my fav is english toffee). I usually mix in a rounded tsp instant decaf coffee. Gives me a hot chocolate fix!
  • I can relate to the weigh-in scenario. Years ago I was on Jenny Craig and got weighed weekly by this tiny little gal who did not understand how it was to try to lose weight. I would stay on the plan and go to the gym faithfully and weigh-in .8 pound heavier. She would berate me and infur that I was lying. So I would go on…
  • Hi 😊 Sorry I haven't checked in. Nathan, hope you are doing well and still sticking it out. Kelly, congrats on the weight loss and I hope you find the encouragement to continue. Sometimes if you pinpoint where the problem is, ie weekend, it helps to change your habits and routine. Get in a good mindset at the start of the…
  • It is possible. This is my one month anniversary of tracking my food. Last week (at 3 1/2 weeks) I had my doctor appt for A1c. Last check in was 8.3 beginning Nov. Last week was 6.2! I had lost 12 pounds (since before Christmas, it had probably been up over the holidays). I've been waking up with low blood sugar numbers…
  • Update: doctor lowered insulin to 60 units. 😁
  • I just want to offer my words of encouragement. I began drinking in my teens and quickly lost control. My last drunk was days before my 21st birthday. Now I'm looking at 60. I got a lot of help and encouragement in AA. I also had help in church. I went into treatment at 20 and my last drink was with friends I made in…
  • Hi there young man. I'm looking at 60 and not liking what I see in the mirror. I have type 2 diabetes so it is imperative that I cut the sweets. I want to see 70s. I started back up again a month ago and as of last week, had lost 12 pounds, not much but a starting point. I'll regularly keep in touch if you want to friend…
  • Thank you all for some very interesting ideas I'll need to check out. It's always good to switch things up 😉
  • It's worked well for me. Tonight was the second time that I have had it. So it's a great reward for me in the evening. Give it a try and let me know what you think 😊
  • I agree, potassium is a struggle. I looked it up and saw that it isn't necessarily a good idea to get too much. Thank you for the comments
  • My situation is different. I have type 2 diabetes but crave chocolate and sugar. So for me, it works. Also, I don't eat much meat since it sometimes doesn't digest well for me. So the extra boost of protein is a plus in my eating plan. Thank you for your response. Have a good one
