@cory17 I have MFP set up to lose 2 pounds a week, so they are set at 1200, plus most days I eat back 100-200 exercise calories. I walk the dog twice a day and usually get over 10,000 steps.

Well you could get a fitbit and that would tell you how many calories you are burning and then you'd know what your calorie burn is every day and how much you can eat and stay in deficit. I was given 917 calories "extra" for 14,407 steps (so far) today. So yeah, it does seem like odd that I have less extra calories extra for twice the steps, but I don't really know how accurate fitbit is with its calorie estimation and awarding of extra calories. I'm around 176, 5' 4". about 40 lbs overweight.
