Glad to hear your MIL is coming along. I guess a bad mood is to be expected from anyone in the hospital, but "a few weeks" seems extreme! I hope she cheers up soon. You're really crushing it with the moderation - keep up the great attitude!

Good news from the visit. I get the concern though, it often feels as if doctors are just rushing you along to see the next patient. Did he describe a heart healthy diet or have you just been researching on your own?

MMM, Elderberry Lemon Balm tea sounds delicious!

I'm very happy today - got through my mini 4-day challenge AF (on day 5 today), and really wasn't even tempted. As a matter of fact, yesterday my DH called on the way home and said he was stopping at the store, did I want anything. I asked him to pick me up another 6-pack of AF Stella, and he ended up bringing home the…

That's such a frightening thing to happen, and I'm sorry you have to be going through this with such little support. Glad to hear you were able to resist temptation, it's not very easy when going through such stressful days.

Stress is a big trigger for me too. I keep trying to get into meditation, but it's just so much easier to crack open a bottle of wine and just keep pouring. I've been doing a bit of reading on breath work and think I might give that a try. I hope your recovery is quick and as painless as possible.

@rocket39 welcome to the chat!

Sorry, I did a quick check-in yesterday morning and never got back here to post. @chicbuc, @I_am_motivated, @Michieb125, thank you all for the encouragement-- it has definitely helped. I'm on day three now and haven't even thought much about drinking. I'm sipping on some AF Stella tonight, but no desire for wine. It's odd…

I'm a little upset with myself this morning - my A days are growing and I'm having a tough time stringing together more that 2 AF days in a row lately. Stress and "celebrating" silly small things are the excuses I've been giving myself. Today I'm challenging myself to shoot for at least 4 days in a row AF.

My grandparents always had birch beer in the house when we would visit them in upstate NY, loved that stuff. I don't drink soda with sugar anymore just the diet versions, although that's probably just as bad.

@NonnieDoiron my BIL had a pacemaker put in about 6 months ago and is doing very well with it.

I find that when I don't track I gain weight, so I try to track regularly. I also weigh/measure when I'm trying to lose weight, not so much when I'm not trying to lose.

Sorry to hear about your MIL's health and surgery, sending out hugs and positive thoughts to you and your family. Stay strong and take care of yourself 🫂

Two other teas I like are Passionflower (Tazo) and Hibiscus (from a local tea shop).
-
@chicbuc , @tmbg1 and @Michieb125 (and anyone else who has mentioned herbal teas) - I also love them. Lately I've mostly been enjoying Twining Camomile, Honey and Vanilla. I kinda have to be in the mood for Roobios, but I didn't know it was good for sleep so I may have to start drinking it more often.

WooHoo, good for you Darlene! I'm so happy to hear that. Keep focusing on the good you're feeling and you'll be able to keep pushing for more days. Hang in there.

@NonnieDoiron that's a bummer that you went up, but it sounds like you're planning a successful follow-up week. Good job on avoiding the drinks when you were out. I did really good yesterday - we spent the last three days power washing the driveway (a big driveway, and a pain to power wash), and normally I would celebrate…
