  • That sounds lovely - I've recently started checking out different white teas.
  • Finished Holly - Stephen King 5 stars - was definitely King at his creepy best. Next I'll need something different, so going with Dubliners - James Joyce
  • @Catfish_Fan - so glad you caught the first addition. I agree that some expert advise is in order before trying to restore it yourself. Also thanks for the recommendation on Middlegame - sounds interesting. Almost finished with Holly - Stephen King. Wanted to finish it over the long weekend, but we had a lot going on. Will…
  • Thanks for the intel on the Dune prequel series. I was wondering if it would be worth the read. I finished Sea Gate - Jane Johnson - 5 stars - was a different sort of WWII story. I enjoyed it a lot. Next up Holly - Stephen King. About one of the characters from the Mr. Mercedes series. Maybe I can find a local tsundoku…
  • When ebooks started becoming popular I thought that they would be more affordable than real books. That doesn't seem to be the case to me. I hope you find a solution to your lending quandary.
  • @Catfish_Fan - I just finished The Cerulean Sea and really enjoyed it. Now reading The Sea Gate- Jane Johnson. @LadyCalico2 & @FitMary202 - love your reviews. If it's a book I really want to read, your reviews won't dissuade me. Right now I'm trying to find ways to curb the growing of my TBR pile. Can't say I have found…
  • Thanks for the heads up, @FitMary202 - I was considering adding Atmosphere to my TBR since I really enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six by the same author. @Catfish_Fan - that's really exciting. So many of the authors on Good Reads don't friend or follow many people. I think maybe they just use it to hear what's being said…
  • As I recall parts of Mr. Mercedes was really gory. But overall, I enjoyed the trilogy. I started reading Stephen King when I was a teenager. He is a great storyteller. I need to go back to the Gunslinger books. I only got so far in them and there was a big gap between some of them. I think that was when he was hit by a…
  • Finished A Calamity of Souls - David Baldacci 5 stars Next up - The House in the Cerulean Sea - T J Klune @FitMary202 - Kindred by Octavia Butler was really great, and it was storytelling that held up even though it was written in the 1970's. I'll need to move up The Parable of the Sower in my TBR. Was hoping to get The…
  • https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/48604178#Comment_48604178 I finished I Capture the Castle - Dodie Smith over the weekend. I really did enjoy it. Some parts wouldn't play now but as a piece of historical fiction it is still well worth the read. Now reading A Calamity of Souls- David Baldacci.…
  • When I'm not reading - I'm reading about what to read next. LOL! So excited - Dan Brown has a new Robert Langdon book coming out 9/9/25 The Secret of Secrets. Hope it's more like his first couple of Robert Langdon books.
  • @Catfish_Fan - thanks for the recommendation - always good to get some guidance when starting with a new author. I do read on my kindle app - mostly when I'm at an appointment waiting or something like that. It is convenient. @FitMary202 - I saw that James won the Pulitzer as well. It's definitely on my list to read. So…
  • I agree @FitMary202 - it does look cool. I still prefer my real books though. I finished Starter Villan- John Scalzi- 4 stars. That was the first of his stuff that I had read. I'll have to check out some of his other stuff. Now reading I Capture the Castle - Dodie Smith. It's been on my TBR list for awhile. Hoping to clear…
  • @FitMary202 - is that the Cowboy version of the Macarena?? LOL! I finally finished Southern Man - Greg Iles - gave it 4* mostly because I really enjoyed the other Penn Cage books. Now on to Starter Villan - John Scalzi - I needed something a little lighter.
  • Hi @quietmousie - I've enjoyed Anne Rice's vampires and witches. You'll have to let us know what you think of The Passion of Cleopatra. @Catfish_Fan - when suffering from a book hang over I usually go for something light and completely different from the book I can't get out of my head. I'm still making my way through…
  • @FitMary202 -enjoy!
  • Finished The Book of Magic - Alice Hoffman - it was definitely my favorite of the series. Next up Southern Man - Greg Isles @Catfish_Fan - I agree it is a shame that public libraries are losing their funding. I don't know what my life have been like had I not had access to both school and public libraries as a child. There…
  • @Catfish_Fan - that is a great quote George R.R. Martin. I'm still reading The Book of Magic - so far I think it is my favorite of the 4 books in the series. I hope the 2nd Practical Magic movie follows along this story line. @FitMary202 - What you were feeling about Dark Matter sounds about like how I was feeling about…
  • @FitMary202 - I've read the 1st 4 of the Outlander series. Look forward to hearing what you think of them. I need to pick up where I left off. I also need to get back to the Game of Thrones series. I read the 3rd one when I was sick in bed. It was a little bit too bloody for a sick person, but I keep thinking about the…
  • @FitMary202 - You're right TBR never gets any smaller and thanks to your review I've added Babel to it. I finished The Silkworm finally - sad to say I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as The Cuckoo's Calling. 3 stars. Next up the final book in the Practical Magic series -The Book of Magic - Alice Hoffman. I also read The…
  • I agree with Doug - Outlander books are great. I've read the first 4. Need to pick that series back up and continue on. I've finished The Nightingale - Kristin Hannah- definitely 5 stars. Need something a little lighter after that, so next up is The Silkworm - Robert Galbraith. I really enjoyed the first one in the series…
  • Finished Starling House - Alix E Harrow 4 stars. Was good, but I had trouble getting into it at first. I enjoyed her Once and Future Witches much more. Next up The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - this one has been on MT. TBR for quite a few years. Part of my goal this year is to get through some of the books that have been…
  • @Catfish_Fan - great article. Now I have scientific proof I need to curl up with a book.
  • That does sound tasty - and I love oolong tea.
  • Finished Practical Magic - Alice Hoffman - enjoyed it more this time through - though I do still prefer the movie, which is unusual for me. Next up The Book of Lost Names - Kristin Harmel. @FitMary202 - let us know how you like The Sellout - I need to know if I need to add it to Mount TBR.
  • Last month we went to visit relatives and spent a day in Durango Colorado. There was a tea shop in old town Durango. I got some loose-leaf tea and some lavender syrup to put in my Chamomile tea. Syrup is almost gone. Going to have to see if I can order it online - I've really come to enjoy it in my evening tea.
  • Cool - now you know it's genetic. Other hobbies are important too. I go through phases with mine. My GoodReads goal this year is 28 books.
  • @Catfish_Fan - hope you enjoy the Robert Langdon series. I loved the first 2 books - the ones after didn't seem to have the same depth as the first ones. I finished The Station. 3 stars on GoodReads. Didn't care for it all that much. One of the reviews said that the HBO series was much better, so I'll have to check that…
