  • @Caroline_slowandsteady I track fiber and try to get a lot of it. Today I have had 38 grams, pretty typical for me. In reviewing what I eat, it is not so much that there is one superstar food, but that there is very little I eat that does not have at least a gram or two of fiber because I try to eat whole real food with an…

I also repurposed one of those things I could not let go from my parents estate that had been in my garage (after…

  • @MadisonMolly2017 Really interesting topic. I searched under groups for ¨Building Better Habits¨ but nothing came up for me. Can you share a link? My first attempt- ¨I am a health foodie¨ or maybe ¨I am a REAL foodie¨
  • ✅ Exercise: 30 minutes swimming, 45 minutes walking ✅ Calories ✅ Tracked 0 pass days used ( ) Sleep can be a real problem for me. My sleep problems and afternoon or evening exhaustion was largely what made me believe I needed to retire from my job and focus on my health-- even though I really did not have any kind of…
  • @BCLadybug888 If there are not typos in there Canadian tests are reported differently than here. Do you think that was supposed to be triglycerides 166 and HDL 107 (that would be poor for triglycerides and amazingly good for HDL, which is the ¨good cholesterol.¨ 1.66 for triglycerieds on an American scale is unfathomably…

  • ✅ Exercise: 45 minutes swimming ✅ Calories ✅ Tracked 0 pass days used ( ) I do take rest days, ever since a physical therapist told me I should have at least one rest day a week. However, that was rest from the intense exercise I was doing. Now walking 10,000 steps might still be a rest day. I went through a long plateau…
  • ✅ Exercise: 75 minutes walking ✅ Calories ✅ Tracked 0 pass days used ( ) What I do for binge mitigation: 1. Record what I ate in the binge. 2. Review what I was telling myself during the binge and what I wished I had told myself, if different. 3. Visualize hugging and nurturing my inner child in a way that does not include…

  • @BCLadybug888 I am watching this video this morning. I think I remember that you ordered the book Metabolical, but I didn´t know if you have finished it. This is an interview with Robert Lustig, the author. In the book he talks about how to interpret your lab results, but he goes on and hits some additional points here.…
  • February 5 ✅ Exercise: 20 minutes walking, 50 minutes swimming ✅ Calories ✅ Tracked 0 pass days used ( ) What are your goals? How are your working to achieve those goals and how important is exercise to that mix? I am trying to get down into a normal weight range, reverse my insulin resistance, and improve the biodiversity…

  • I customized MyFitnessPro to report fiber. For me, I consider it one of the more important things to track, because high fiber days tend to be the healthiest days. Tracking has always been helpful to me because it makes me think about food in a way more based on the nutrition and less based on the impulse of desire. I was…
  • @Elbee1 I can´t imagine how difficult that would be dealing with that loss and also dealing with the continuing illness of your mother. I hope you can keep posting here and that it helps to support you and help you give yourself grace while working on taking care of yourself in addition to your more.
  • @four__db I think of it as basically four things to do, which become a habit. 1. Track. 2. Try to stay below your calorie goal. 3. 20 minutes of exercise activity. and 4-- at the end of the day or the next day, post on the thread for that day. That´s it. The tracking helps you become more conscious of what you are eating,…
  • BCLadybug888 PUFA = polyunsaturated fatty acid I now use avocado oil for everything that I used to use other vegetable oils in for cooking-- frying, sauteéing, etc. There seems to be some disagreement among the experts over just how hot you can go safely with extra virgin olive oil, so I play it safe and use avocado oil…

  • @mshawski I use coconut aminos as a gluten free substitute for soy sauce in most things. (Actually I prefer the flavor.) If you have never tried it, I recommend it.
  • @BCLadybug888 He does prefer butter (saturated fat) but these three other oils are not on his list of seed oils to stay away from. The PUFA seed oils he is warning against (like cottonseed, corn, peanut, canola, sunflower, safflower, etc) are all high in Omega 6s and all are only made possible through modern techniques…

  • I watched these two videos of Dr. Chris Knobbe this morning (they are both very similar, the first one has a little more emphasis on obesity and the second a little more emphasis on Macular Degeneration) and wondered if this idea that the consumption seed oils are playing a critical role, perhaps even more than sugar, in…
