  • 401 days today.. that is a record for me in the 5 years that I have been logging my food intake (on and off). I have discovered that logging is the only way that I can maintain any significant weight loss.
  • It seems like I have been playing the yo-yo game for most of my life... I am tired of it. This time around I am determined to break the cycle and being in my 60's also, I think I am hard headed enough to do it. That is my motivation, although if I see myself slipping, I open the book "Thin for Life" by Anne M. Fletcher and…
  • Congratulations. I have come to the conclusion (after years of yoyo dieting) that I need to log in order to lose and that I must continue to log for life to maintain that loss. I've tried to do it without, only to regain and have to start over. I am currently at day 315 and have no intention of ever stopping. Good luck on…
  • My trigger for beginning this "round" of weight loss began in 2017 when I quit drinking alcohol. Without changing my way of eating, I started to lose weight and I knew that it was the right time to get serious about weight loss. I just reached my goal this month and am working on finding the maintenance "sweet spot". Still…
  • Just like others here, I only eat 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner). I also limited total fat calories to be 10-15% of total calories for the day, depending on how fast I wanted to see the scale move. Now that I'm near maintenance, I have increased fat calories to 15-25% daily, while still keeping my total calories below…
  • My fasting schedule is also 18/6. Intermittent Fasting helped me to break through a plateau and now I am 1# from goal. I will continue to use it throughout maintenance. My results are: 20# lost using calorie counting alone and an additional 23# with added fasting.
  • Two pounds from goal of "normal" BMI.
  • Do not allow a 1 day pity party. That will just give you an excuse to continue with your bad eating decisions and possibly escalate them. Get back on the horse, so to speak, and begin again, today. Re-watch some of your favorite diet related YouTube videos, or spend the day reading an eating-for-health book. Remind…
  • @gonzoschicken Yes, it is possible. I also had a self sabotaging cycle of trying to lose 40 pounds that spanned years. It all began with my first pregnancy at age 30. By the time I reached 60 years old and I started having health issues that were weight related, I finally decided to get serious! My first eye-opening step…
  • ddpowell... you posted the following: The questions I have are: Should I be doing this everyday? Are there some books that you can recommend that focus on the protocols, rather than the theory? " Should I be dieting when I am feasting? What is OMAD? My answers: Yes, you should be doing this everyday. I like the book "Eat,…
  • My name is Jan. It has been ten years since I started my journey to get to a BMI under 25. I have managed to lose 40 pounds, but I still have about 10 to go. I started intermittent fasting 2 weeks ago to see if I could break through a plateau I was stuck on. It seems to be working as I am down 3 pounds while fasting 16:8.…
