  • Yes there is a soy based cream, I have tried this with very good results: https://www.iga.net/en/product/soyaprep-for-cooking-organic/00000_000000067449111175 It's more of a cooking cream than a whipping cream. I would not use evaporated milk because that is still a dairy product.
  • I have a similar request. I would like to be able to enter an exercise like: Walk to IGA which would involve going to the store (time / distance), around the store (speed / time / distance), and walking home with groceries. Also I didn't find: Walk with a bundle buggy. Sometimes you have to buy a lot and can't carry it in…
  • I can;t click to vote on this one, but I agree.

  • I second this -- think about an "old school" step tracker that clips onto a belt. Not everyone has a cell phone!
  • I'm finding the opposite -- my sodium numbers are scary high. Yes I know that sodium lurks in a lot of packaged food. But in fresh honeydew melon? Homemade chocolate chip cookies? Unsweetened juice? Spring Mix salad without dressing?! Come on. This gives me serious doubts about the accuracy of what I'm trying to track.
  • If/When the database is cleaned up: -- please retain the Canadian entries, i was very pleased to find such extensive entries for Canadian brands, including local store brands, even Dollarama! -- please introduce multilingual support, so that foods entered in English and French show up ONCE not twice I saw several chain…
  • An update to yesterday's meals: I reached out to the caterer who replied this morning, it was a cranberry and caramelized onion with brie tart. And it weighed 60 grams -- I know because I brought home two leftover lunch boxes. I logged it as 0.272 of an Iku caramelized onion tart (220 grams).

  • Oh I definitely eat it. I have 29.5 sweet teeth. Today's totals are a bit wonky because I was at a funeral so my meals got a bit messed up. But I need to see the total because borderline diabetes runs in the family, plus it's my doc's idea that I lose at least 50 lbs. Breakfast included: 1 banana, 1 small glass unsweetened…

  • I would like to see this feature. I love desserts of all kinds -- and right now it's like penalizing someone for eating fruit. 🍌

  • There is a food show every 2 years in Paris called SIAL, it's on my bucket list to go. I would eat my way from one end of the convention center to the other, taste EVERYTHING and truly savor each item. I usually pick up tons of freebies at trade shows, but I guess I wouldn't worry too much about that, if this is my last…
  • Gingerbread Oreos. Apparently this was a Christmas thing, but i only discovered them in a bargain cart a few days ago. And now they're sold out. AAAAAA 🍪
  • Only last year. You can still buy Imperial soft marg in a tub, but that stuff is horrible for baking. I switched to butter, watching the specials like a hawk and stocking up when I have freezer space. When the Imperial hard margarine was gone for good, it got replaced in the stores by Becel plant based blocks (salted and…
  • Most of my breakfasts are toast with peanut butter, juice, tea, and fresh fruit. Up until last year, it also included a newspaper delivered to my door. [Since the home delivery got screwed up last year (partly due to construction next door and partly due to ineptitude at the newspaper), I now buy a paper at the store just…
  • Looking back on the recipes (sweet and savory) I;ve already entered.... "egg whites" = not the crack an egg and separate it kind, but some commerical egg replacement. "salt and pepper" = potato chips? Something salt and pepper flavored, not the spices. Another recipe turned an unusual imported abbreviation into 1/2 CUP of…
  • Here is my recipe: https://www.canadianliving.com/food/baking-and-desserts/recipe/corn-bread-loaf Instead of baking it in 9x13, I made 3 mini loaves. One of these was hiding in my freezer till recently, the other 2 were given away by the Food Fairy. This isn't something I bake regularly, but when I get stuck with half a…
  • Koogle peanut butter -- a flavored peanut butter from the 1970s(!) Apple Dapple ice cream (don't remember the brand) Blocks of margarine to bake with. When Imperial got discontinued, a friend and I bought 17 packages between us at $2 each, clearing out my grocery store and stuffing our freezers plus my senior friend's…
  • Squeak squeak, my inner mouse was thrilled to find this thread 🐭 I am fond of sampling different cheeses, as long as they aren't the smelly or blue kind. Aged cheddar makes the best mac & cheese. cheese is great just to nibble on too, with crackers. I miss the cheese festival that usually happens in February -- the Excuse…
  • All of it. The sports, the repetitions, the machinery, the weights, the jock coach yelling at you because whatever you're doing isn't good enough, the pretentious sweaty idiots next to you, the creepy locker rooms -- NO NO NO. It's all pointless and unnecessary. As someone wrote earlier, don't do exercise just for the sake…
