@nay0m3 you are most welcome :) I know how you are feeling, I have been there for 30 days straight, at times feeling like I have hit an invisible wall and the whole world is against me. It's a long term goal and slow and steady wins the race. Just enjoy your vacation and focus on nourishment.

I have been stuck in a plateau since the last week of January. Today, I have finally broken that plateau with zig zag diet (discussed here separately). This has given me hope that food is the biggest helper in our weight loss journey and we all can do it! We all can lose weight as much as we want if we let our food help…

Prayer has helped me a lot too. Attitude of gratitude- mindfully being grateful for everything that you have, will help lessening stress and negative thoughts. ( you can read about it here) Always look at people who are in a lesser position in life than you. That helps looking at things in perspective. Consciously think of…

I wfh too. And I use a simple trick to keep drinking water. I keep my coffee mug filled with water next to me, and sip through the day. I call it "snacking on water" :)
-
@Sistersue3285 Keep drinking water with whatever you eat. Make a rule to take a sip after every morsel. That way, you can control the calorie intake.
-
started eating zigzag calories since yesterday. Will try it for a few weeks, stuck on 164 for the last 4 weeks.

3 days ago, I made changes in my diet and increased the amount of fruits, vegetables in my meals. The scales have moved. Good.

Did I say "spices and herbs contain lots of salt and cause water retention"? Where?
-
try using 100 grams of spices :)
-
snack on soups first, then any solid thing. This way, your cold will improve and you'll not eat too many calories :)

Same here, been 3 weeks, nothing changes. But I am also encouraged by the fact that I haven't gained anything. I have learned in this journey of weight loss that patience and consistency are virtues and scales don't always tell the truth, clothes do. So, I keep trying those clothes that I was unable to wear 3 months ago…

@RubyRed427 Thank you for this challenge. I am happy with my January round and not only lost 5% of my total weight, I feel more energetic, more active than I have felt in the last few years (which were not good for my health for various reasons). In this round, I'm focusing on fitness, apart from losing another 5% of my…

My apologies, didn't get it at first <3

the 1200 calories people are not saying it is. Are they? They are just trying to motivate those, for who it is.
-
The thread is abut positive stories about 1200 calories. So I'm skipping all the negative stories. Long live the 1200, positive stories thread :)

Count me in for the February challenge.

Thank you everyone for your support and insights! I have a very sedentary lifestyle (am a writer, so I sit in front of my laptop the whole day, except for walking a few steps inside my home). And I have gluten +dairy allergy. So, I eat mostly local food which is made from fermented rice (lots of fiber, less calories), and…

I so very much agree with you. I never paid attention to portion control, but learned about it in these community boards. And now I realize, with portion control and sipping water with my food has produced amazing results for me.

MFP recommended 1200 calories for me. I have been following it and by a simple deficit of 150 calories a day, I have lost more than10lbs in 90 day. As per online sources, one needs a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose one pound. And I have accumulated a deficit of 35,000 calories over a period of 90 days (since Nov '22),…

Yesterday had some friend food. Repenting it now. Overall on track.

@GinLee61 wow! congrats!

Kindly check YouTube for "extreme grocery budget for keto diet"- there have been lots of videos about healthy eating on low budget and I'm sure you'll get some useful ideas from there. And yes, I have also found that eating protein at night (in dinner) makes me quickly lose weight.

Everything happens for the best. I had an old weighing machine which was more precise than the old model I had for years. The old one showed the difference only in one pound. So, it didn't budge often, the new one did. Recently, I was noticing that the new scale would keep showing the same weight for many days, then it…

@55isfly22 Here is a tip to eat junk food and still save you calories. Keep a glass of water with you when eating something high calorie. Take one sip of water after one morsel of whatever you are eating. Soon your stomach will be filled with water and you won't be able to eat any more. I used this trick when I felt like…

@cgm117 agree with you! Slow and steady wins the race. The important thing is to get a clean eating habit in place. Weight loss is just the side benefit of a healthy eating habit. Have been trying to cultivate that and enjoying the slow progress.

From MFP blog section: How Much Water Should You Actually Drink?
-
@taxgirl1 - This week, I have been counting how much water I drink in a day and tried to drink (sip) 8 cups a day (but can't go beyond 5-6 cups) and I have observed many benefits including- 1) water retention has gone down (I suffer from food allergies and water retention is a big problem for me). 2) I feel fuller through…

@Lietchi @kshama2001 Thank you for your recommendations! @herblovinmom It's such a relief to know someone else is in the same (allergic) boat! I also tried goat cheese, but as you said, the allergic response is still there. And yes, gluten is totally avoidable. Dairy, I stumble from time to time. So yesterday I followed…

@AnnPT77 thank you for such insights and those helpful links! Yes, I cannot count water retention and water loss as weight loss. So, I'll continue to focus on my long term weight loss, instead looking at day to day fluctuations. My aim, after all, is to be long term healthy!
