It sounds like you could eat any meat and veggies. A nice roast like 2t9nty suggests with lots of veggies, I would add potatoes, because I like potatoes with a roast. Chicken stir fries. If you're not allergic to tomatoes or tomato sauce, a big batch of spaghetti sauce or veggie and beef soup is good. I'm sure you can find…

That is excellent news. Keep up the good work!

That is great! A1C of 6 or6.1 is excellent.

I've never tried the spiraled zucchini, but I do use spaghetti squash. If it's big enough, once you cook it in the oven, when you scrape out the insides, it comes out just like spagetti. Smaller ones are good too, the insides just come out a little different. To lessen your hunger, try a snack in the evening before…

that's just it. It doesn't show me any pictures, it just verifys and that;s all. But it has stopped/

Well normally they say it's uniterpretable, so most times I don't get any results from my urine sample. My doctor was quite happy with the 6.9%, and was surprised that I was disappointed. Well, I shouldn't have been. My ultrasound on my veins showed some minor vascular blah, blah. So she is sending me to a specialist for…

I always check with Dynacare before the doctor lets me know. Like you, I want to see the numbers. She just recently abandoned the portal. She explained to me today that she has 1000 patients, all sending her emails more than once between visits. I write down any questions I have for her, and ask her at my appointment.

I have noticed that my blood sugar peaks just before dawn and goes down when I get up. If it's low when I wake up(below 4 Canadian), after a cup of coffee it returns to normal. Eating proper meals with lots of veggies and a fruit for dessert keeps my blood sugar readings at a steady 5.5 to 6.6.

Blood work is back. A1C it up a point to 6.9%. Considering my eating lately, I'm not surprised. It's still below 7%. And, I had reduced my insulin ratio per meal. Low plateletes, that's also pretty normal for me. Low sodium. And after all that water I drank, my sample was corrupted during transport. So, my doctor won't…

Oh, you and me both. It should be ready by end of day.

It really seems hit and miss if you get a good doctor or not, I've been very fortunate, or unfortunate, depending on how you look at my situation. If you check out your local community services, they may be able to hook you up with some diabetes classes and support groups. Or maybe the American Diabetes Association, if you…

I hear ya about being scared being put on insulin. I cried when my doctor told me I needed insulin. My support group and diabetes educator made me realize that it's just another tool to control my condition. I was soon in a better head space and have never looked back. I'm not sure if I've got this right, but a pancreas…

When I was diagnosed, my sister was quite snotty about it. She said to me "It's your fault because of your lifestyle." I was so insulted. I reminded her that I had spent 4 1/2 months in the hospital fighting necrotizing pancreatitis caused by the surgeon who removed a gallstone and nicked my pancreas. And, since she had…

Good job on the weight loss. When I was put on Metformin, I was prescribed 2 pills, 2 times a day right off the bat. I use the freestyle Libre 2 sensors to monitor my daily glucose. I love it. My blood pressure is still a little high, but I'm pretty sure if I exercise more it would go down. Best of luck!

I can't get over the treatment some of you receive from doctors. I have had great doctors in my life, before and after diabetes. But, I get that some doctors get fed up with some patients. Despite warnings from my doctor, I was a smoker, overweight, and not active at all. Then I quit smoking, and started biking to work…

MargaretYakoda. I couldn't agree more with your rant. I belonged to a diabetes support group when I was first diagnosed. I was actually underweight because of my pancreatitis. Everyone in the group commented that I shouldn't be diabetic at my size. The diabetic nurse said, 'If weight caused diabetes, then every overweight…

I think it was the nurse at the diabetes clinic that gave me a one touch metre, and the doctor gave me the prescription for the strips. I don't really use it that much anymore since I use Freestyle Libre 2 now. I'll double check with a finger test if the reading on my scan seems out of whack.

Didn't you say you eat less than 10g of carbs a meal at one time? I can't imagining it, but I want to ask, is this mainly a veggie/fruit based diet? I just watched ANderson Cooper on Sunday, and with excerise and meditation that will help stave off Alsheimer's as well(my 2nd biggest fear).

That sounds good! Keep up the good work. Will you be increasing your Metformin? I take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Doctors orders.

I've never heard our blood described quite like that. Welcome to the group.

Thanks guys. I'm glad to be back and have someone to talk to about my challenges. We all have them, and sometimes they seem insurmountable. I do not like the summer. I can't take the heat. No excuse. I will start going back to the pool in my apartment building when it's too hot for outdoor activity. In the meantime, I have…

All good advice by the others. What saved me was a diabetic classes that taught me how to check blood sugars, different excercise choices, and a diabet group led by a diabetes educator. The group was a support group, and we had a lot of laughs, but we did check in with other when we weren't meeting. You can do it alone,…

First things first, don't add salt to anything. But I guess you knew that. I found a delicious mix of lemon pepper at a farmer's market. It is great on fish and/or chicken. I usually use separate spices when I cook(which isn't that often). Also, a great chinese spices mix. It does had some salt, but you only need a pinch…

It does take determination to change your diet for the long haul. Baby steps. This app is definitely a huge help for me. Carbs, are carbs, are carbs. fruits and veggies. whole wheat instead of white breads. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Hello Dave. I am a T3C which is caused by trauma to the pancreas. No matter what I do, I will always need insulin and meds. When I was first told was diabetic, I was expecting it, so I wasn't too upset. I thought I was doing everything right, but I had to start taking insulin. That was more upsetting that being diabetic.…

Thanks. I did a bit of research, and they will apply it to the taxes for 2015 and 2022 automatically. Then, I claim the amount on my income tax for the following years. So, all's well that ends well.

Update from Revenue Canada. I have been approved for the Disability Tax Credit for the years from 2015 to 2028. They'll be sending me a letter in the mail. I know I get a certificate number for future tax returns but not sure how to apply it to my past returns. Hopefullu the letter explains it all. But, I'm so glad that I…

I hear ya about the portion control. My problem with buffets is that I see one thing, then another, and before I know it, I've chosen the things I want but not the things I need. And of course, portions.
