I'm baaaack!
I've been away for awhile now. I wish I could say I've been busy, but I would be lying. I haven't been taking very good care of myself lately. My eating is out of control. My rheumatoid arthiritis is really bothering me a lot lately. If I go out for a slow, short walk(15-30 mins.) I am in pain for three days. Very…

Update to my on going pancreatitis nonsense.
No attacks since August, but still getting the contractions in my chest every once in awhile. Had an Endocopic ultrasound this week to see if they can find what's causing the pain. Answer, couldn't find a reason for my pain. So, I feel like a fool as usual. On the bright side, according to my meter, my A1C is 6.3%. Now,…

Update on my Disability Tax Credit application.
It's been approved for the years from 2015 to 2028. They'll send me a letter in the mail that will probably explain how to apply to my taxes, my DTC number and other information. I am so glad I did this, and that it's been approved.

Financial relief at last. And more...
The Ontario government gives diabetic seniors $170 a year for their needles for their pens. That will cover the cost of my needles for 1 year. Annnd... There is a Canadian Disability Tax Credit. After all these years, they have relaxed the criteria to some degree. It used to be, if you were type 1, you had to prove you…

6 small meals a day?
Hi everyone. My name is Judy and I am diabetic. I usually post on the Diabetes group, but I am at a loss about this whole concept of 6 small meals a day. I have chronic pancreatitis because of a slip of the scalpel during a gallstone removal. Long story short, I now only have 10% of a functioning pancreas. So, I have what…

Insulin pens left overs
I've another pancreatitis attack at the beginning of the month. So, the regular routine, fluids the a week.. Then what they call 'full fluids' which is things like oatmeal, soups with a bit of texture(no fat). Then slowly introduce more solid, bland food. Once you can tolerate solid food again, start introducing some…

CURE FOR DIABETES!!!!!!
I am so sick of seeing these ads, and the poor gullible people who get taken in. The main culprits I see are, Oprah, Dr. Oz and Dragon's Den. Take a gummy, no more diabetes. Diabetes can't be cured. It can be managed and with a lot of hard work, can be put into remission, which is not the same as cured. After seeing a few…

I think I need a keeper
This morning before I had breakfast I took my insulin according to my ratio carbs/insulin. But, I took my long acting by mistake. Then, since I wasn't sure what to do, I took my fast acting before I ate, I hope that was okay. I'll watch out for a low today.

3 month checkup results
This dr.'s appointment went well and as I was hoping. According to my doctor's scale, I lost 10 lbs, and 10 cm(4 inches) on my waist. I actually thought my waist had expanded, but turns out, it was bigger last time. My A1C was within acceptable limits for my limited pancreas. 6.8%. She lowered my insulin ration from 1:15…

New ratio for my insulin and I'm not pleased.
Last checkup with my doctor in December, she changed the ratio of my insulin from 1unit to 15 carbs, to 1unit to 120 carbs. That was because I was having a lot of lows. So, 2 months into it, my meal time numbers are a little higher than I like. I'm not getting lows, so I guess it's working. I guess I'll see how my next A1C…

Happy New Year everyone
Another year started and the old one is behind us with all the trials and tribulations that life throws at us. I don't make resolutions because most of the time, by February they've fallen by the wayside. The only thing I tell myself is to try to do my best, maybe a little better than last year. Of course, there's a few…

AAARRRRGGGG
Hi, I am the member previously known as Judyvalentine10. I had some major problems trying to do anything with myfitnesspal. I kept giving me application error. In frustration, I tried a new account and voila, here it is. I've sent a 'help me please' text to support. All my data, recipes, streak, weights are gone. I hope…
