Last Dr.'s appointment, my doctor lowered my insulin ratio. So, I thought YAY. My sensors kept acting up though. They kept losing the signal and wouldn't scan. When I called ABBOTT for help, it turns out the sensors aren't compatible with Apple Iphone 7. Something must have changed when I updated the software.
Sooo, they sent me a new sensor, and the reader. Then my phone died completely. I bought a new phone, but still use the reader until this sensor has to be changed.
All that to say, I felt unsettled. My readings were unexpectedly high. Sometimes, when I expected it to be high, lo and behold it was normal or low. I even did finger pricks to double check. I went back to my original insulin ratio because I wasn't happy with the results I was getting. I have been told that because of the damage to my pancreas, and that diabetes is progressive, I may have to deal with a higher A1C. It's been 11 years since a surgery error wrecked my pancreas, so maybe I should have expected it. Every pancreatitis attack causes more damage to my pancreas to the point I'm not sure if there's any left that's working.
So, I had my A1C yesterday. I am very upset, 7.6%. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. I have been exercising more since the weather has turned to fall temperatures. I either walk in the forest, or go for a bike ride.
I AM going to get this down again if it kills me! Whining over.

Arrgh... That all sounds so frustrating. The whole point of the continuous monitoring is to be able to stay on top of what is going on.

My heart goes out to you...

I feel your frustration. Mine was 7.0 and is now 7.6 too. Time to grind. I just told someone else, it's like the life of an addict. We have the tools and the knowledge. We know what to do. Supporting and praying for you.

In three months, with diet and exercise, no meds, I've lowered mine from 10+ to 7.8 I'm worried I won't be able to get it lower without medication. Is it possible?

That is amazing progress. Possibilities are hard to know, but if you have done that in three months, it is trending down for sure. Congrats!

Hi, I was just sitting here reading some of the posts and was going to check in. It's been so long and sorry for the absence. Things have changed for the better the last while. My doctor left her practise to work in the long term care part of the hospital. She did get me another doctor to take her place for me, but he's a MAN. I haven't had a male doctor in over 25 years. Well, my pancreas team is mostly men but they only see me every 6 months or so. My last A1C was 6.8%(148) which may seem a little high but considering all the damage my pancreas took, the doctors love it. And that's the lowest it's been in over a year. My weight has stayed pretty stable since November last year. Then I was 165, today I am 154 and holding. I would like to lose another 14 pounds but it I don't, well life is too short to worry about it. I'm going to have another MRI soon to check my pancreas again. They like to keep an eye on it in case it becomes infected or cancerous. When they tell me they test for cancer, I panic. 3 brothers 1 sister and my father all had cancer. My sister is in remission now, but that diagnoses scares the bejesus out of me. I have seen a lot of lows the last 2 months so I think I may have to lower my insulin dose. My new doctor told me that would be okay, but only 1 unit at a time until we see the effects.

Other news: My granddaughter was taking a college course on production and development of film and TV programming. We went to see the presentations of her and her fellow classmates. The judges named her film 'the judges favourite' She is finished her course and now is doing an internship at Cable public affairs channel.

My daughter has gained an awful lot of weight over the last two years. I'm sure she is over 300 lbs. So, on April 11, she is having bariatric surgery. She is very casual about it, but I am terified. I can't help remember what happened to me with just a gallstone removal and how it has affected my life ever since. I would like to go with her, the surgery is in Montreal, but she doesn't want me there, she said it will make her nervous seeing my worried face.

I worry because I know what can go wrong.

Anyway, sorry for the long and rambling message. I hope all of you are doing well.

Judy - you have a lot going on. Best to stay on top of that pancreas. Your team is looking out for you.

    Congrats to the grand-daughter!

I wish I had some wisdom about the daughter. I have one on a GLP-1 right now.

That A1C sound pretty good to me all considered!
