  • Homelessness in our small town. We have a lot of homeless people, druggies, getting gang members into the area, a big increase of violence. Our town is 6-7K people and it's never been like this. :( Our whole state has been peaceful, kind, beautiful; that's slowly eroding away. A woman, 61 yo has disappeared while on a…
  • Watching 10 seconds of him and his excitement about going to Mars was all I could stomach this morning. Wish we could clean up and take care of the planet we have instead of spending those billions on this sh...it.
  • 2 bags of groceries including Drake's Apple Pies for hubby and nonfat Stoneyfield yogurt for me. Only 70 bucks! :/
  • So my computer says it's -13. My phone says -6 and my car says -8. All I know is it's not 70 and sunny out.
  • I'm a very late bloomer. I just finished all the seasons of Schitt's Creek. :) May have to rewatch them.
  • I absolutely loved that book; very eye-opening and sad that things like that used to happen and who knows maybe they still do.
  • Just finished The World According to Bob by James Bowen(a feel good book), now reading Bad Liar by Tami Hoag(good thriller) and next up will be The Memory of an Elephant by Alex Lasker, which I've been told is sad but good ending.
  • Irked that I have such a weak will and am now back to losing the 14# I gained throughout Oct-Dec. :( Feeling like an unhealthy sloth is no fun.
  • I read a lot. Watch movies. Hobbies seem to come and go for me. Something I've been watching lately are youtube videos of treasure hunters, using metal detectors. I've always had an interest in that, eversine finding 2 silver pennies in our backyard when I was a child. I'm thinking of getting a metal detector and just…
  • Wow, your progress pictures are all so amazing!! It's hard but worth it!
  • My current irk seems to be trying to see the latest posts of a certain topic, but it won't allow me too.
  • Is your cholesterol issue hereditary? I didn't read everything completely but diet/exercise can only do so much if it 'runs in the family'. I had a neighbor who had very high cholesterol due to genertics; even his doctor told him he was the fittest unhealthy person he knew. :/
  • No picture but since the fall weather has arrived, so have thoughts of apples and pumpkins. So I'd take a whole pan of apple crisp smothered in vanilla bean ice cream or a whole loaf of fresh apple bread. Or no calories? Gimme both please. :)
  • I indulged and bought a salmon fillet last week. My protein amount soared. I'll sometimes just dump a can of tuna on my veggie salad. I love plain baked chicken breast with hummus, along with fresh sliced veggies for a meal. I don't cook much but do try to get enough protein in every day. For the eggs you could use 1 whole…
  • I am amazed!! You have done such a great job and are an inspiration! As they say.....it's not easy but it's worth it!
  • My response might sound flippant but I often feel that 'stuck in my life' way. I have 2 dogs and honestly don't know what I'll do without them. They're both 12.5 so I know their time is limited. Dogs are such great lovable companions. They take you out of your own head, keep you occupied, love you unconditionally, etc. But…
  • Yep, I've heard comments like that as well. :( 'Think happy thoughts. Put a smile on your face and it'll all feel better, hang out with positive people, fake it till you make it'. To comment on the original question: they put my son on Ozempic quite awhile ago and while it was to treat his diabetes, a side affect of it was…
  • Argh bingeing...that uncontrollable urge to wolf down anything and everything in sight, even if you don't like it all that much. :( I, too, suffer from it. I'm sure therapy would help some people; not sure it would for me. :/ I HAVE to keep trigger foods out of the house. Unfortunately, my most common one is peanut butter…
  • You know what I'd do with those eggs? Mix them in with some sugar, flour, canned pumpkin, baking soda and spices, bake in a couple loaf pans and enjoy. But that's just me. :) An egg fast is one diet I've never heard of. I've tried a lot of different diets in my day. I think the worst one was making my own liquid diet(found…
  • I noticed that the other day when I was adding sugar to my meals, in my coffee. Breakfast sugar was 4 g. of sugar, then the sugar I added for my mid day coffee was 100 g.
  • Coffee at 4. Then 2 lite toast with 1 T. of peanut butter and a dozen cherry tomatoes.
  • I want to see an update to how people are truly feeling today!! I need some positive reinforcement. :) I'm feeling better than I was on Monday. Yeh, it's only Wednesday but with 2 positive days under my belt, I can gain a forward momentum instead of feeling this huge wall sitting dead ahead of me. I've been walking and…
  • Wow, I'm right there as well. :/ Gained 20# in the past year, lost some, gained some, complete yo-yo trend now. I feel miserable about my lack of control. And someone mentioned peanut butter. Eeks, that has been the worst for me. :( And those calories mount up fast. I have a doctor's appointment Sept. 23rd so I'm hoping I…
  • Truthfully? Not very hopeful or positive. But that could change any minute. :) I keep worrying about the future; we're not getting any younger(I'm 70 and dh is 73), my dogs are both seniors and changing every day. My sister just turned 80 and has lots of issues. I'm stuck in a place mentally and physically that doesn't add…
  • It's a vicious cycle. You don't feel great emotionally or you feel badly about yourself, you tend to stop all the positive activities in your life. Then the less you do those things, the worse you feel and it gets harder to re-establish them. I've been going through one of those slumps in my own life, very depressed, just…
  • I must be blind because I still can't find anything. :( But thank you!!!
  • Happy Friday everyone!!
  • Inelegant? Only cultivated and elegant women allowed? Wow, I'm so glad I don't live there. :/ I'd never fit in. :)
  • Yes. I cannot keep sweets in the house. If dh wants them, they get hidden by him. I've never been the gal who can eat one serving and be done. :( "It has nothing to do with hunger for me, and I realize it is coping mechanism for emotions, loss, grief, stress etc etc." The above poster hit the nail on the head for me too.…
  • I read all these wonderful tips and suggestions. They all make so much sense. But how do you get past that mental part? How do you flip that switch in your brain that's telling you you HAVE to eat? You have to fill up that empty part of yourself? You need that rush that food gives you? Did any of you watch The Whale with…
